The catcher position at Middletown South has been a program strength for the perennial Class A North and state-tournament contender, so Grigos had a high standard to meet in his first season as a starter. The junior backstop delivered: Grigos handled a diverse pitching staff, controlled the running game with 10 caught-stealing attempts for a 17-percent caught-stealing rate and his eight extra-base hits were tied for 10th among regular catchers in the Shore Conference.

An all-division selection by the Class B South coaches, Dinicola was a threat in the heart of the order for a Central squad that won 16 games in 2025. He was fourth on the team with sixth extra-base hits and one of his five doubles came in a 5-4 loss to Point Pleasant Beach while Central was still battling the Garnet Gulls for the B South division title. Dinicola’s biggest game came in a regular-season win over New Egypt, during which the left-handed slugger went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.

Central is well-represented on the All-Shore Team, with catcher Jack Tietjen grabbing a Third Team honor and both Dinicola and Truzzolino racking up the fan vote. Truzzolino was a spark at the top of Central’s lineup, finishing the season fourth at the Shore in stolen bases and seventh in runs scored. Three of Truzzolino’s seven doubles came during tournament play and against pitchers who were named to a Shore Conference Coaches’ all-division team, Truzzolino went 11-for-20 with a double and six walks.

Melton was a go-big-or-go-home player for the No. 4 team in the Shore Conference to finish the 2025 season – all after missing the entire 2024 season due to injury. The junior did not hit a double in 2025, but he did belt two home runs and legged out a triple. Speed was also part of Melton’s game – both on the bases (18 steals) and in right field. In the South Jersey Group III final vs. Toms River South, Melton made a leaping catch at the fence in right to rob Ben McEwan of a grand slam in the sixth inning.

Dufficy was 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings as a starter, while he posted a 2.10 ERA with eight strikeouts and one walk in 10 innings of relief. DeNicola opened the season expecting to be a jack-of-all-trades for Middletown South: some innings first base, the occasional at-bat and a few innings on the mound. Within the first two games of the Middletown South season, however, DeNicola made it clear he would be Middletown South’s go-two pitcher. After three sparkling outings vs. Marlboro (twice) and Manalapan, DeNicola spun a complete-game gem to beat No. 3 Red Bank Catholic and Virginia-bound ace Ryan Prior, 2-1. The junior right-hander went on to pitch in state-tournament wins over Nottingham and Burlington Township.
