Circle the Wagons: 2025 Freehold Boro Football Preview
Having to replace the leaders at every major statistical category will be a daunting, but not impossible task for third-year head coach Derek Reichenbecher. The young Colonials will look to be competitive in the tough Class B North division. The Colonials will have to battle in the trenches each week, but they have the utmost confidence that if they can get their play makers the ball in the open field that good things will happen.
“We have dynamic skill position players, ” said Reichenbecher. “We will need to scratch and claw, run the ball, and stay healthy to be successful.”
Taking over at quaterback will be Julian Isaacs (Sr, 6’0, 175), a dual threat with a strong arm. Running Back Jamar Reed (Sr, 5’9, 175) returns after a limited role in the Colonial backfield last season (18 carries, 66 yards). Joining Reed in the backfield will be Tyshawn Hairston (Sr, 5’10, 175). The starting wide receivers in Freehold’s spread offense will be Jordan McKenzie (Jr. 6’0, 160), Mike Tracey III (Jr, 5’9, 155), and Ben Brooker (Sr, 5’6, 155).
The offensive line will be led by a bunch of big guys who will look to protect Isaacs and open holes for Reed and Hairston. Starting across the line will be left tackle Ryan King (Jr, 6’0, 235), left guard Nick Carovillano (Sr, 6’3, 275), center Erol Bayrasli (Sr, 6’3, 235), right guard Carson Fusco (Jr, 5’11, 200), and right tackle Xavier Farina (Jr, 5’8, 235). The tight end spot will be held down by Dom LaRosa (Sr, 5’11, 190).
The defensive line will be one of the strengths of the 4-2-5 formation for the Colonials. Rushing the passer from the defensive end positions will be Bayrasli and Edwin Para Nova (Jr, 5’7, 175). Big Nick Carovillano (DT) and nose guard Davon Williams (Sr, 5’10, 200) will be counted on to clog up the rushing lanes for opposing running backs. The linebacker corps looks to be strong and athletic, with Hairston and Reed on the outside and Mateo Poole (Sr, 5’10, 190) filling the inside linebacker spot. The defensive backfield includes corners Isaacs and Damier Lester (Sr, 6’0, 170), both with good size and speed. At strong safety, LaRosa will anchor the defensive backfield, while McKenzie will roam as the free safety.
Dom Bryant (So, 5’10, 180) will handle the place-kicking duties, while Isaacs will be in charge of punting for the Colonials.
