Central Jersey Group IV

(5) Marlboro 1, (13) South Brunswick 0 (OT)

Junior Nick Hramyka scored the golden goal off a feed from senior Vinny Pollifrone during the 16th minute of overtime and the Mustangs (9-7-4) battled past the Vikings (6-13-1) to reach the sectional semifinals Tuesday.

Pollifrone sent a pass across the box for Hramyka, who one-timed a shot back over goalkeeper Vikram Chandola and into the far right corner of the goal for the game-winner with 4:08 remaining in the second overtime period.

Marlboro will host No. 9 North Brunswick Tuesday after North Brunswick upset top-seeded Monroe on Friday night.

 

Central Jersey Group III

(1) Colts Neck 2, (8) Lawrence 1

Senior Ben Kazani drilled the game-winning penalty kick with one second remaining in regulation and the Cougars (18-2) rallied from a one-goal halftime deficit to escape an upset bid by the Cardinals (12-9-1).

Senior C.J. Collins made the breakaway run and drew the foul that led to Kazani’s game-winning penalty, which sends Colts Neck to Tuesday’s sectional final against the winner of No. 5 Brick Memorial and No. 13 Red Bank.

Senior Gabe Kruglyansky tied the game 10 minutes into the second half by heading in a cross from Kazani.

(3) Northern Burlington 3, (6) Brick 1

Monroe Castor scored a brace and Elijah Font added a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds (14-5-1), who rode three second-half goals to a win over the Green Dragons (12-7-1) that sends them to a sectional semifinal match at No. 2 Middletown South on Tuesday.

Junior Nana Boakye-Yiadom scored the lone Brick goal, which also came in the second half.

(2) Middletown South 1, (7) Long Branch 0

Senior Luke Strada scored the game’s lone goal in the 18th minute and the Eagles (14-3-1) held on to knock off the defending champion Green Wave (15-5-1) while advancing to the sectional semifinals for the second straight year.

Junior Connor Saul headed a throw-in to the right side of the 18-yard box, where Strada shielded a defender, collected the pass, turned and fired a right-footed strike to the far left corner of the goal.

Strada nearly put the game out of reach on a similar shot in the 66th minute, but his left-footed strike off a turn clanged off the bottom of the crossbar and stayed in play.

Middletown South’s defense and senior goalkeeper Carson Perry held off Long Branch’s push to equalizer, nailing down their ninth shutout of the season.

(5) Brick Memorial 5, (13) Red Bank 0

Senior Alex Santos scored a goal in each half and the Mustangs (16-7) rolled to a win over the Bucs (8-13-1) to reach the sectional semifinals Tuesday at No. 1 Colts Neck.

Junior Nate Stryker assisted a goal by Elin Torres, then assisted Santos’s goal just prior to halftime before adding a goal of his own to cap the scoring. Senior Sebastian Milan scored the first goal of the second half and Santos’s second goal extended the Brick Memorial lead to 4-0.

 

Central Jersey Group II

(11) Wall 3, (3) Point Boro 2

Junior Shane Womack scored the game-winning goal with under three minutes to go for a second straight game, this time burying the tie-breaking goal in the 79th minute to lift the Crimson Knights (10-10) to another wild road win over a Shore Conference opponent.

Senior Shea Davis scored off a scramble following a corner kick to open the scoring for Wall and the Crimson Knights took a 2-0 lead late in the second half on a finish by senior Evan Kerr after Womack set up the play with a run to the goal.

Point Boro (13-8-2) rallied to tie the game, starting with a goal by senior Alberto Boscolo-Cegion to cut the deficit in half. In the 76th minute, senior Jake Greene headed in a corner kick to knot the score, 2-2, and set up another dramatic finish involving Wall.

In Tuesday’s first round, Womack scored two go-ahead goals in the final eight minutes, including the game-winner in the 78th minute to close out a 5-4 Wall victory at Ocean. On Friday, Womack found the ball in his area on a corner kick and finished it off with under two minutes to go on the clock.

Wall will make its shortest road trip of the playoffs on Tuesday, when the Crimson Knights travel to No. 7 Manasquan for the Central Group II semifinals.

(7) Manasquan 4, (2) Cinnaminson 3

Senior Cruz Farkas went off for a hat trick, including the tie-breaking penalty kick that capped the scoring midway through the second half as the Warriors (13-7) outlasted the Pirates (12-6-1) to advance to the sectional semifinals Tuesday against No. 11 Wall at Manasquan High School.

Farkas kicked off the scoring early in the first half and scored again to tie the game, 2-2, before halftime. Junior Quinn Juska struck for Manasquan’s third goal and with the score 3-3, Farkas stepped to the spot and buried the winning penalty kick with just over 20 minutes left in the second half.

Junior Adam Rodricks and sophomore Travis Levy each dished out an assist for Manasquan.

(4) Robbinsville 1, (5) Holmdel 0

Senior Max Goldberg scored the game-winning goal in the second half off a pass from classmate Henry Honeywood and the Ravens (14-7-1) continued their three-time sectional title defense by clawing past the Hornets (11-7-2).

 

Central Jersey Group I

(5) Middlesex 1, (4) Shore 0

Senior Antonio Dimitrijoski scored in the seventh minute and the Blue Jays (13-6-2) sat on the lead for the final 73 minutes to knock out the Blue Devils (13-7-1), earning Middlesex an opportunity to host the sectional semifinals Tuesday.

(16) Florence 4, (9) Point Beach 3

Sophomore Evan Hajeski scored his second goal of the game to pull the Garnet Gulls (12-8-1) even in the second half, but the Flashes (9-7-3) delivered the knockout blow to advance to the sectional semifinals as a No. 16 seed with their second straight road upset.

Hajeski scored to tie the game, 3-3, off a pass from junior Brody Powers, who opened the scoring in the first half with his 27th goal of the season. Hajeski’s second goal gave Point Beach a 2-1 lead early in the first half off a pass from senior Dylan Ryan, but Florence countered with two straight goals to take a 3-2 lead before Hajeski’s second goal tied it.

Florence moves on to face No. 5 Middlesex Tuesday in the sectional semifinal round.

 

South Jersey Group IV

(5) Southern 2, (4) Egg Harbor 0

Senior Brody Nacarlo scored two goals in the second half off passes from classmate Caden Schweigart and the Rams (14-6-2) shut down the Eagles (13-4-3) to carry their South Jersey Group IV title defense into the sectional semifinals Tuesday at top-seeded Washington Township.

Nacarlo broke through with the winning goal in the 48th minute, then added an insurance goal in the 70th to put the game out of reach for Egg Harbor, who could not crack Southern goalkeeper Kyle Sininsky.

 

South Jersey Group III

(2) Toms River East 3, (10) Lacey 0

Sophomore Brennen Hutton scored two goals and the Raiders (17-6) rode a standout offensive performance from a trio of underclassmen to a win over the Lions (10-11-1) that sends Toms River East back to the sectional semifinal for the second straight season.

Hutton scored off the first of two assists by fellow sophomore Brady Gillen, which broke a scoreless tie in the 48th minute. Hutton scored again in the 59th, this time off a feed from senior Aiden Reis.

With Lacey playing with nine men due to a pair of red cards, Toms River East capped the scoring in the 76th on the first varsity goal by freshman Jack Gillen, set up by Brady Gillen.

Toms River East will host No. 6 Delsea in Tuesday’s sectional semifinal after the Crusaders upset No. 3 seed and defending Group III champion Shawnee on Friday.

(4) Toms River South 1, (5) Ocean City 0

Senior Jimmy Aguilar Ochoa scored off a touch from classmate Shane Gambarony in the 63rd minute and the Indians (15-4-2) held on to beat the Spartans (14-8), advancing to the the sectional semifinals Tuesday at top-seeded Moorestown.

Senior Jake Myers found Gambarony on the right side making a run into the box and the senior forward battle through a defender and poked the ball toward Ocean City goalkeeper Eddie Fuller. Gambarony did not hit the ball with full force, which allowed Aguilar Ochoa to slide into a shot before Fuller could reach the ball and knock it into the open goal for the lone score of the match.

Fuller denied Gambarony on a penalty kick in the 12th minute after Gambarony was knocked down inside the box. Junior Christian Oberti drew the assignment marking Ocean City leading scorer Chase Bowman and kept him from scoring his 19th goal of the season. Bowman did unleash a near miss in the 26th minute, when he ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box off the left post.

Freshman Connor Starr and the Toms River South defense nailed down their 12th shutout of the season, which matches a single-season program record.
