Freehold Township played on the defensive for the majority of the game but cashed in their second scoring opportunity. In the 60th minute, following a free kick that was knocked out of bounds by a Colts Neck defender, senior Gino Castaneda served a corner kick to the middle of the box. Senior defender Bobby Lockard pushed up and headed in the corner for a 1-0 lead.
Colts Neck caught a break in the 73rd, when Castaneda drew his second yellow card of the game, which sent him off for the remaining eight minutes of the match and left Freehold Township with 10 players the rest of the way.
The Cougars took advantage with just over a minute remaining, starting with Moore winning the ball in the middle of the field. He slid the ball over to senior Ben Kazani on the left side, who slid the ball to Kruglyansky in the middle of the 18-yard box. Kruglyansky turned and fired a low shot from 15 yards out that tucked into the lower left of the goal with 1:04 showing on the game clock.

It took Moore only 52 seconds to finish the golden goal, which started with Kruglyansky winning the ball near midfield and knocking it forward 10 yards to Moore. The junior striker took on three defenders, dribbled to a spot on the left side of the box, stopped his dribble and slid a shot to the far right post for the winner.
(4) Middletown South 2, (1) CBA 1
The Eagles (11-3-1) scored off two first-half corner kicks and withstood a CBA second-half surge to knock off the top-seeded Colts (13-2-4) and advance to the SCT championship game for the first time since 2003.
In the 22nd minute, senior Luke Strada served a corner kick into the box that senior defender Ryan Kapler headed past CBA goalkeeper Brady LePore. A CBA defender cleared the ball out of the goal before it reached the back net, but the sideline assistant referee ruled the ball cross over the goal line for a 1-0 Middletown South lead.
Ten minutes later, Middletown South won another corner kick and again, Strada served a dangerous ball into the box. Kapler bid for his second goal and after a wall of CBA defenders slowed the ball down, Matt Sekular delivered the finishing touch for a 2-0 Eagles lead heading into halftime.
CBA fired out of the halftime huddle and broke through with its first goal in the 51st minute. Junior John Little beat a defender along the end-line and found senior Ryan Asadi at the near post. With his back to the goal and a defender on his hip, Asadi turned and slipped a shot from the edge of the six-yard box to the far side netting to cut Middletown South’s lead to 2-1.
Middletown South’s defense withstood a flurry of CBA threats for the next 15 minutes, then regained its defensive stronghold over the final 15 minutes to run out the clock on its first semifinal victory in 22 years.
Middletown South and Colts Neck will meet in Saturday’s SCT championship game, which will be the first SCT final without CBA since 2019.
