Senior Tessa Liggio scored 18 of her game-high 21 points in the first half while shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point line and the Caseys (26-2) withstood a furious comeback by the Lancers (23-3) to win their second straight Shore Conference Tournament championship.

Senior and McDonald’s All-American Addy Nyemchek scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter to help RBC respond after St. John Vianney took its first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter. Nyemchek also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out six assists and picked off a pair of steals.

Senior Stella Lockhart led St. John Vianney back from a 17-point first-quarter deficit and gave the Lancers their first lead with a basket on the first possession of the fourth quarter, 42-40. Lockhart later hit a three-pointer to put SJV up, 47-45, after Nyemchek converted a three-point play to give the Caseys a one-point lead. Lockhart finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lancers.

St. John Vianney’s largest lead in the fourth was three points, which Nyemchek cut to 49-48 with a basket in the paint with just under two minutes left. Senior Katie Liggio then banked in a leaner near the left block to give the Caseys a 50-49 lead with 1:12 left.

Nyemchek hit a pair of free throws to stretch the lead to 52-49 with 22.7 seconds left and Tessa Liggio sealed the victory by hitting the second of two free throws with 5.9 seconds left.

Senior Sophie Smith scored eight of her 11 points in the first quarter to help stake RBC to a 22-5 lead. After Tessa Liggio’s third three of the half made it 27-12, St. John Vianney hit four consecutive three-pointers  by four different players — Lockhart, senior Madison Kocis, senior Charlotte Bradley and sophomore Gianna Sano — to pull within 27-24. Liggio then stopped the run with her fourth three of the half to send the Caseys to the break with a 30-24 lead.

Kocis and senior Taylor Sofilkanich each added 11 points for St. John Vianney, with Kocis also handing out three assists.

No. 10 Brick 61, Brick Memorial 34

Sophomore guard Kendall Fredricksen scored a game-high 14 points as the Dragons (17-8) overwhelmed the crosstown rival Mustangs (13-13). Sophomore guards Ariana Wissen and Chase Stansbury each added nine points. Sophomore guards Olivia Dolan and Ilyani Pozo each chipped in eight points.

Senior guard Olivia Emanuele scored a team-high 10 points in the loss. Senior guard Jaedyn Kemprowski and junior Avery Nalducci each chipped in six points.

No. 6 Howell 56, Jackson 39

Senior forward Kylee Beam poured in a game-high 20 points including a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line to lead the Rebels (21-5) past the Jaguars (14-10). Senior guard Payton Smith buried three treys and finished with 15 points. Senior guard BellaRose Marino added 12 points.

Senior Isabella Finer scored a team-high nine points in the loss. Senior Avery Brooks and freshman Mya Grzyb each added eight points.

No. 8 Neptune 59, Manchester 56

Junior guard Lana Ellington poured in a team-high 24 points as the Scarlet Fliers (16-3) edged out the Hawks (10-13). Senior guard Majiah Quarles finished with 12 points. Sophomore center Bryanna Edgerson added nine points.

Junior guard Madeline Nolan went off for a game-high 28 points in the loss. Sophomore guard Jesse Sarana threw in 18 points.

Ranney 61, Donovan Catholic 50

Sophomore guard Savannah Jackson poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the Panthers (4-16) past the Griffins (11-12). Sophomore guard Kayla Matos knocked down three treys and finished with 17 points. Sophomore guard Lucy Eibeler added 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

Juniors Sarah Franks, Jordyn Passes, and Kaylen Wright each scored a team-high 12 points in the loss.

Non-Conference

Raritan 56, Calvary Christian (Old Bridge) 46

Senior guard Brooke Shea poured in a team-high 18 points to lead the Rockets (2-18) past the Lions (8-14). Freshman center Michaela Kurdes threw in a career-high 16 points. Sophomore guard Ava Facendo added nine points. Senior guard Gianna Manfredi chipped in seven points.

Matawan 31, Manville 28

Freshman Leilanee Ong scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Huskies (13-11) past the Mustangs (17-8). Senior Abby Neilson chipped in six points.

Senior forward Sadie Fleming registered a double-double with a game-high 15 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Caldwell 53, Colts Neck 37

Sophomore Julianna Jasina scored 14 points and sophomore Allison McAndrew added 13 points, but the Cougars (19-6) fell to the Chiefs (22-2).
