No. 10 Neptune 52, Holmdel 39

Junior Lana Ellington and sophomore Bryanna Edgerson each scored 15 points as the Scarlet Fliers (1-0) kept the Hornets (0-1) at an arm’s length. Junior Jacenia Furman and sophomore Tyeera Howard each added seven points.

Sophomore Claire Gillespie scored 15 points and sophomore Casey Zammit added 14 points in the loss for the Hornets.

Monmouth 44, Pinelands 15

The Falcons (1-0) cruised past the Wildcats (0-2) in their opening game of the season behind stingy defense and a balanced offensive scoring effort. Monmouth came out of the gate strong with a 13-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Junior Peyton Ryan scored a game-high nine points as she converted on three three-pointers. Senior Ava Augusta finished with eight points and five rebounds. Junior Sam Oliveri added eight points. Senior Angela Carter chipped in seven points and pulled down five rebounds.

Sophomore Ava Plant scored a team-high seven points in the loss for the Wildcats.

No. 3 Trinity Hall 44, No. 6 St. Rose 38

The Monarchs (1-0) rallied from a 37-32 deficit with 4:08 remaining in the game with a furious 12-0 run to earn a big opening night victory over the Purple Roses (0-1) in a battle of top ten teams. Seniors Grace Feeney and Bridget Rigney each finished with a team-leading 10 points. Freshman guard Ella Krayl finished with seven points in her debut. Senior guard Whitney Hobson added seven points. Sophomore guard Lyla Lu chipped in with six points. Trinity Hall knocked down only two three-point shots throughout the duration of the game, but were solid from the free throw line where they finished 17-for-22.

Junior guard Callie Decker scored a game-high 15 points in the loss for the Purple Roses as she converted on five three-pointers. Senior guard Belle Alvarado added seven points. The Purple Roses knocked down seven three-pointers as a team, but shot just 9-for-16 from the free throw line.

Lacey 47, Raritan 14

Senior forward Brooklynn Bell notched a double-double with a game-high 15 points and 15 rebounds as the Lions (2-0) cruised past the Rockets (0-1). Bell also blocked seven shots on defense nearly approaching a triple-double. Sophomore Lena Little added 13 points and five rebounds. Senior Ava Flanagan scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Demarest 48, No. 5 Colts Neck 34

Shore 52, Newark Central 34

Senior guard Ava Coyle registered 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and six steals as the Blue Devils of Shore Regional (1-0) pulled away from the Blue Devils of Newark Central (1-1). Freshman guard Sydney Tilton added 11 points, five rebounds, and three blocks in her debut. Sophomore guard Scarlett Watson chipped in 10 points.
