No. 9 Manalapan 5, Middletown North 4 (OT)

Senior John Delaney sank the game-winning goal on the opening possession of overtime as the Braves (3-3, 2-1) won a thriller over the Lions (4-1, 2-1) to stay in the hunt for the division title.

Junior goalie Connor Doel made his 400th career save to extend his school record, finishing with 11 saves. Seniors Matt Avivi and Anthony Tufte, sophomore Ryan Seybuck, and senior defenseman Dennis Gabinelli all scored once.

 

Middletown South 12, Jackson Memorial 1

Junior Luke Gaffney scored five goals to continue his strong season and lead the first-place Eagles (4-2, 3-0) to a victory over the Jaguars (0-5, 0-3).

Joe Sarci added two goals and two assists, Jackson O’Keefe had two goals and one assist, and Leo Abate had a goal and two assists. James Pirozzi scored a goal and went 10-for-14 on face-offs and Ryan McCarthy also scored once. Senior goalie Matt Mason made six saves.

 

 

Constitution Division

Freehold Township 6, Brick Memorial 3

A three goal 4th quarter helped Freehold Township (2-2, 2-0) top Brick Memorial (3-3, 1-2). Senior Ryan Rowohlt scored 2 goals and tallied 1 assist while freshman Benjamin Brauswetter scored 2 goals. Senior Patrick Wicke added a goal, and junior goalie Josh Lubin recorded 6 saves in the win for the Patriots.

Senior Austin Edwards scored a team-high 2 goals for the Mustangs while sophomore Dylan VanDeventer scored the remaining goal. Senior goalie Matt Hillin recorded 15 saves in the loss.

 

 

Nondivisional

No. 6 Southern 19, Red Bank Catholic 2

Sophomore Cash McVey recorded a career-high six points on four goals and two assists and senior Liam Griffin delivered four goals and one assist as the Rams (3-1) cruised to a home victory over the Caseys (0-7).

Southern led 12-1 after the first quarter and 17-1 at halftime.

Sophomore Kyle Sininsky had three goals and one assist and senior Joe Kessler tallied a goal and four assists while freshman Niko Iliescu and sophomore Shea O’Donnell provided a goal and three assists each. Senior Liam Bates scored twice for his first varsity goals, sophomore Jack Ramsey had a goal and an assist, and senior Ed Gorzelnik scored once. Senior FOGO Collin Markoski had a goal and an assist and won 15 of 16 face-offs to increase his season win percentage to 72 percent. In goal, sophomore Nick Hughes made 10 saves and senior AJ Mattern made three saves.

Sophomore midfielders Jake Bickerton and Jack Denver scored goals and freshman goalie Wyatt Curley made 15 saves for Red Bank Catholic.
