Brick Memorial 6, Toms River North 4

Senior Austin Edwards’ 3 goal effort led Brick Memorial (1-0) past Toms River North (0-2). Junior Justin Karlbon scored 1 goal and dished out 2 assists while Senior Matt Malanga, Freshman Brandon Romaine, and Freshman Colin Fanning each added 1 goal for the Mustangs. Juniors Jack Deufemia and Nick Correia each recorded 1 assist. Senior goalie Matt Hillin had a strong performance with 17 saves in the victory.

 

Ocean 12, Brick 0

Ocean Township (1-0) ran away from Brick Township (0-2) for an opening day victory. Senior Vincent Stolowski scored a single-game career high of 4 goals and dished out 1 assist while Junior Connor Holevinski scored 2 goals and dished out 4 assists. Junior Mickey McGovern added 2 goals and 1 assist. Four other Spartans scored 1 goal including Junior Jack Varley, Sophomore Frank Frasca, Junior James Knight, and Freshman Quintin Wade. Junior goalie River Pinto had 2 saves while Junior Ryan Paradiso recorded 4 saves in the shutout victory.

 

Lacey 9, Marlboro 8

Lacey (1-1) held on for a tight victory over Marlboro (0-1) behind hat trick performances from Junior Braedyn Gialanella and Sophomore Luke Miller. Both players finished with a 3 goal and 1 assist stat line. Junior Ryan Gleason scored 2 goals and dished out 1 assist while Senior Corey Smith finished with 1 goal and 1 assist in the win for the Lions.

 

Shore 15, Red Bank Catholic 1

Shore (1-1) earned a strong lopsided victory over Red Bank Catholic (0-4) for their first victory of the season. Junior Reid Spallone led a balanced scoring effort with 3 goals and 2 assists. Senior Tucker Malfa, Senior Lukas Villa, and Junior Jack Madalone each scored 2 goals and dished out 2 assists. Sophomore Brady McHugh and Junior Henry Azzolini both scored 2 goals. Freshman Ryan Cregle scored his first career goal. Junior John Mazzacco also added 1 goal. Sophomore goalie Joey Longo recorded 4 saves while Freshman Anthony Pernice recorded 3 saves in the win for the Blue Devils.

 

 

Southern 16, Jackson Memorial 0

Southern (2-0) ran away from Jackson Memorial (0-1) behind a total team effort. Seniors Billy Barry, Rob Potter, Liam Griffin, and Joe Kessler all scored 2 goals in the win for the Rams. Eight other players scored goals in the win including Senior Evan Wyrsch, Sophomore Cash McVey, Senior Collin Markoski, Sophomore Kyle Sininsky, Freshman Cole Celeste, Sophomore Jack Ramsey, Senior Ryan Paliga, and Senior Gorzelnik. Sininsky also dished out a game-high 3 assists. Senior goalie AJ Mattern recorded 5 saves while Sophomore Nick Hughes recorded 2 saves in the shutout.

 

Middletown North 7, Colts Neck 2

South Brunswick 17, St. John Vianney 4

St. John Vianney (0-1) fell to South Brunswick (2-0) on opening day. Senior Brendan Allen scored a team-high 2 goals in the loss while Sophomores Ethan Hunter and Daniel Rodman also added a goal. Senior Blake Hawthorn recorded the lone assist for the Lancers.
