American Division

No. 3 CBA 6, No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven 5 (2OT)

Freshman midfielder Danny Varone ripped home the game-winning goal with 1:45 left in the second overtime period to give the Colts (5-3, 3-0) a thrilling win over the Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1).

Varone scored twice while fellow freshman Chase Grimando also scored twice. Senior defenseman Quinn Kelly scored a goal on the man advantage and senior defenseman Michael Poskay scored the game-tying goal with 20 seconds left in the third quarter. Junior goalie Shayne Boresen was outstanding with double-digit saves, including multiple key saves late in the fourth quarter and during overtime.

Down 2-0 after the first quarter, Rumson scored four straight goals on strikes by Liam Haggerty, Grayson Goldin, Joseph Whitehouse, and Britt Lumsden to take a 4-2 lead early in the third quarter. Kelly’s goal made it 4-3 before Grimando knotted the score at four. Sophomore defenseman John Paik gave Rumson the lead right back off a transition break with 2:10 to go in the third but Poskay answered in the final 30 seconds to tie the game again.

 

 

No. 1 Manasquan 17, No. 7 Wall 8

Seniors Ryan Aldi, Brandon Kunz, and Matthew Schneider all scored four goals and senior goalie Pat Loxley made 13 saves when the Warriors (7-0, 3-0) scored eight times in the fourth quarter to pull away from the rival Crimson Knights (2-4, 1-2) and remain undefeated.

Wall forged an early 3-1 lead before Manasquan rallied to tie the game 3-3 after the first quarter. The Warriors led 6-4 at halftime but Wall answered to knot the score 6-6 in the third quarter. From there, Manasquan mashed its foot on the accelerator to take a 9-6 lead and eventually ended the game with seven unanswered goals after leading 9-7 entering the fourth quarter.

Aldi had a team-high five points with one assist added to his four goals. Junior midfielder Lucas Longo added two goals and one assist and senior midfielder Kai Donahue tallied a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder Jack O’Reilly scored once and freshman Casey Mahoney scored his first varsity goal. Sophomore attackman Kieran Schneider chipped in with two assists.

Senior midfielder Michael Hoarle and junior attackman Wyatt Capro led Wall with three goals each. Junior midfielder Patrick Freud posted a goal and two assists and senior attackman Jackson Lemongelli scored once. Senior goalie Braeden Buckley made 11 saves.

 

No. 5 Shore 7, No. 6 Southern 5

Sophomore Brady McHugh recorded a hat trick and junior Reid Spallone tallied two goals and two assists as the Blue Devils (4-2, 2-1) scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter to outlast the Rams (3-2, 0-2) for a key divisional victory.

Senior midfielder Brendan O’Brien won 11 of 16 face-offs to reach 500 career face-off wins, while sophomore goalie Joey Longo backstopped the victory by making eight saves. Junior Jack Madalone scored twice and senior Tucker Malfa contributed two assists.

Senior Liam Griffin scored three goals, sophomore Shea O’Donnell scored once, and freshman LSM Lukas Iliescu scored his first high school goal to lead Southern. Sophomore Kyle Sininsky had two assists, sophomore goalie Nick Hughes made seven saves, and senior goalie AJ Mattern made five saves.

 

No. 8 Red Bank 6, No. 4 Holmdel 5

Junior attackman Gabe Pape delivered two goals and one assist, freshman MJ Keating scored twice, and junior goalie Owen Montgomery made eight saves as the Bucs (1-4, 1-3) edged the Hornets (2-3, 0-3) to pick up their first win of the season.

Sophomore Justin Valentino added a goal and two assists and freshman Ryder Kunkel had a goal and an assist for his first varsity points. Senior attackman Jack Tavares dished out two assists to help the cause.

 

Colonial Division

Howell 13, Donovan Catholic 1

A career-high 5 goals from junior attackman Mason Morgan helped Howell (5-1, 2-1) roll past Donovan Catholic (0-4, 0-2). Junior attackman Travis Kimball added 2 goals and 1 assist while junior midfielder Cole Reinsdorf added 2 goals. Senior attackman Jayden Devino scored 1 goal and tallied 2 assists. Sophomore defender Anthony Pesina scored 1 goal and 1 assist. Senior defender Tristan DeLucia and junior defender Michael Mangano each scored 1 goal. Senior midfielder Vincent Meehan tallied a team-high 3 assists in the win for the Rebels.

 

Constitution Division

Ocean 14, Jackson Liberty 2

Junior Connor Holevinski exploded for a career-high 7 goals to lead Ocean (4-2, 2-1) to a lopsided divisional victory over Jackson Liberty (1-4, 0-3). Junior Mickey McGovern scored 2 goals and tallied 2 assists while sophomore Frank Frasca scored 2 goals. Junior Jack Varley added 1 goal and 2 assists while senior Vincent Stolowski added 1 goal and 1 assist. Junior James Knight also scored 1 goal. Junior goalie River Pinto recorded 7 saves in the win for the Spartans.

 

Toms River South 7, St. John Vianney 5

 

Freedom Division

Marlboro 14, Central 0

Marlboro (4-1, 3-0) knocked off unbeaten Central (4-1, 2-1) behind a standout defensive performance and a shutout from sophomore goalie Brayden Gallo. Junior Mason Trombetta scored a career-high 4 goals and tallied 1 assist. Senior Tyler Gellis went for his 3rd hat trick of the season with 3 goals and 1 assist. Seniors Sam Shapiro, Braden Dupey, and Shayne Gallo all went for 2 goals and 1 assist. Senior Andrew Silvia added 1 goal and a game-high 3 assists in the win for the Mustangs.

 

Long Branch 7, Neptune 2

A career-high 4 goals from senior Dylan Levin and an 11 save performance from junior goalie Oscar Lemuz-Garrido guided Long Branch (1-5, 1-3) to their first win of the season over Neptune (2-3, 1-2). Junior Jordan Almeida added 2 goals and 2 assists. Junior Samuel Brewer scored 1 goal while senior Jace Fenn tallied 1 assist.
