American Division

No. 2 CBA 8, No. 3 Shore 7 (OT)

Freshman midfielder Danny Varone fought through a check and scored the game-winning goal with 29 seconds left in overtime as the Colts (10-5, 5-1)  rallied for a dramatic victory over the Blue Devils (7-3, 5-2).

Shore led 7-6 with just over four minutes left thanks to a goal by Brady McHugh off an assist from Jack Madalone. CBA tied the score with 1:55 left in regulation on a goal by sophomore Christian Fox.

Varone recorded a hat trick, senior attackman Carter McGuire scored twice, and Fox had a goal and an assist. Freshmen Anthony Lembo and Jackson Chaney scored one goal each and junior goalie Shayne Boresen made 13 saves.

Senior midfielder Tucker Malfa scored four times to lead Shore. Madalone and Reid Spallone had a goal and an assist each and McHugh scored once. Senior face-off specialist Brendan O’Brien won 12 of 19 face-offs and sophomore goalie Joey Longo made nine saves.

 

No. 5 Southern 13, No. 8 Red Bank 6

Senior Liam Griffin and sophomore Kyle Sininsky both scored 4 goals and tallied 1 assist to propel the Rams (6-4, 3-4) past the Bucs (4-7, 1-5). Senior Joe Kessler sank 2 shots and distributed an assist while sophomore Shea O’Donnell scored 2 goals. Sophomore Cash McVey scored a goal and tallied a career-high 4 assists in the win.

Junior attackman Gabe Pape netted a hat trick in the loss for the Bucs. Sophomore Justin Valentino added 2 goals and an assist. Junior midfielder Ryan Deverin also scored a goal.

 

Wall 12, No. 9 Holmdel 10

Junior attackman Wyatt Capro sank 4 shots and distributed an assist as the Crimson Knights (4-9, 2-5) ended a five game skid with a victory over the Hornets (4-7, 0-7). Junior midfielder Pat Freud netted 2 goals, distributed 3 assists, and scooped up 5 ground balls. Sophomore attackman Parker Quinn and senior attckman Jackson Lemongelli both scored 2 goals. Senior Owen Moore added a goal and 2 assists while senior Michael Hoarle added a goal and an assist. Senior goalie Braeden Buckley turned back 9 shots in the win for the Crimson Knights.

Senior attackman Brian Volpe netted a hat trick and distributed an assist in the loss for the Hornets. Junior defenseman Marcus Cermele and freshman midfielder Anthony Serini both scored 2 goals and tallied an assist. Senior attackman Dylan Lee scored 2 goals. Sophomore attackman David Perrotti added a goal and an assist.

 

Colonial Division

No. 7 Howell 8, Manalapan 7 (4OT)

Senior midfielder Nick Turturro delivered the game-winning goal in the fourth overtime period as the Rebels battled back from an early deficit to win a marathon over the rival Braves.

Howell trailed 6-1 before rallying to tie the game 6-6 and then force overtime.

Turturro finished with a career-high five goals while Howell’s defense allowed only one goal in the second half and the overtime periods. Junior attackman Mike Kelly scored twice, senior midfielder Vin Meehan scored once, and senior goalie Adam Baker made nine saves.

 

No. 10 Middletown South 10, Donovan Catholic 2

Senior FOGO Kenny Rodriguez won 7 of 8 faceoffs and fellow senior Ian McQuillan won 6 of 7 faceoffs as the Eagles (7-5, 6-2) dominated possession and played stifling defense in a win over the Griffins (2-7, 2-5). Senior goalie Matt Mason recorded 8 saves. Junior Jackson O’Keefe scored 3 goals and tallied 2 assists to lead the offense. Junior Luke Gaffney added 2 goals and an assist while senior Leo Abate added 2 goals. Sophomore Ryan McCarthy scored a goal and tallied an assist. Sophomore Ryan Colacichi and freshman Matt Hegel both scored a goal.

 

Red Bank Catholic 11, Point Boro 10 (OT)

Freshman goalie Wyatt Curley turned back 17 shots and sophomore midfielder Jake Bickerton netted 5 goals as the Caseys (2-12, 1-6) stunned the Panthers (6-5, 2-4) in overtime. Sophomore Joe Egan recorded a hat trick. Senior attackman Leo Cosimano scored twice while sophomore Thomas Muniz scored once. Freshman Ashton Torregrossa distributed 2 assists. Sophomore Jack Denver tallied 1 assist.

Senior Jason Piemonte scored a team-high 3 goals and tallied an assist in the loss for the Panthers.

 

Middletown North 13, Jackson Memorial 5

Noah Fleming scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the Lions (8-4, 4-4) past the Jaguras (0-10, 0-6).

 

Constitution Division

Barnegat 15, Freehold Township 1

Senior midfielder Luke Tortorici scored his 100th career goal and finished with six goals and one assist when the Bengals (11-1, 7-0) beat the Patriots (5-6, 5-2) to clinch at least a share of the division championship, Barnegat’s first in program history.

Junior midfielder Keagan Dunn delivered three goals and one assist, while senior attackmen Jakob Jason and Jason McHale had two goals and two assists each. Senior midfielder Bailey Carroll added two goals and one assist, Codey Shaffery scored once and Connor Maloney contributed three assists. Junior goalie DJ Swierk made three saves to earn the win.

Ryan Rowohlt scored off an assist from Benjamin Brauswetter and Junior Alvarado made 19 saves for Freehold Township.

 

Colts Neck 14, St. John Vianney 4

Senior Tyler Bowden reached 100 career points by scoring six goals and assisting on another to power the Cougars (4-8, 3-4) to a win over the Lancers (2-9, 1-7).

 

Ocean 7, Toms River South 6 (2OT)

Junior Jack Varley scored the game-winning goal off a pass from junior LSM Mickey McGovern as the Spartans (6-4, 4-3) topped the Indians (3-8, 2-5) in double overtime.

Varley and McGovern both scored two goals and distributed an assist while junior Roman Leonardi sank two goals. Junior Connor Holevinski added a goal and an assist in the win for the Spartans.

 

Freedom Division

Toms River North 14, Neptune 1

Senior midfielder Ben Misa and senior LSM Reilly Woodman both netted hat tricks as the Mariners (7-4, 6-0) remained unbeaten within the Freedom Division against the Scarlet Fliers (4-7, 2-6). Misa finished with 3 goals and an assist while Woodman finished with 3 goals. Senior midfielder Cooper Lachowicz added 2 goals and 2 assists. Junior Patrick Hirtes netted 2 goals. Senior Anthony Montalban scored a goal and distributed a game-high 4 assists. Seniors Robert Wingender and Joe Palermo also scored a goal.

Summit 6, No. 4 Rumson-Fair Haven 3

The Bulldogs (8-7) fell to traditional North Jersey power Summit (9-2). Senior Grayson Goldin scored a goal and tallied an assist in the loss. Senior Britt Lumsden and junior Joseph Whitehouse also both scored a goal. Junior Blake Ahmann distributed an assist.
