Class A North
Middletown North 5, No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 2
Zach Hampton pitched into the seventh inning with nine strikeouts and provided an RBI single during a three-run fifth inning to lead the Lions to a win over the Caseys.
RBC jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI triple by Jake Frankel in the top of the first, but Middletown North responded with a run in the bottom of the first when Gabe Ahlemeyer raced home while Alipio Figueroa was caught up in a rundown. The Lions grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third on a dropped third strike and throwing error to score Aldo Casale from third.
Ahlemeyer then cracked a two-run triple in the bottom of the fifth and scored on Hampton’s RBI single to give Middletown North a 5-1 lead on RBC and senior ace Ryan Prior. RBC loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth and settled for one run on an RBI ground out by shortstop Max Dantoni, with Hampton shutting down the inning with a strikeout one batter later.
Frankel led off the top of the seventh with a triple and Hampton bounced back with a strikeout to end his outing. Figueroa then took over on the mound, striking out the first batter he faced before inducing a game-ending ground out to Casale at second base.

No. 1 CBA 6, Marlboro 2
Jared Matejicka hit a two-run double to highlight a six-run second inning and the Colts held off the Mustangs to tighten their hold on first place in the Class A North standings.
Colin Hoverter opened the scoring with an RBI single and Jayden Matejicka made it 2-0 with an RBI single of his own. Jared Matejicka followed his twin brother’s RBI single with the two-run double and the Colts tacked on two more with a sacrifice fly by Dan Tsimbinos and a wild pitch to score Jared Matejicka.

Sophomore Ricky Lopez opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the third inning and closed it with a two-run homer in the fifth to cap his second straight two-homer game and finish off a Panthers win over the Braves.
Nate Fuller also hit a solo blast to lead off the fourth inning and Andrew Parisi hit a grand slam during the seven-run fourth to make it 7-0. Robbie Wrobel later capped the fourth inning surge with a two-run single to make the score 9-0.
Zach Messina spun a five-inning one-hitter, surrendering just a third-inning single to Mike Sisco with one out that was erased when catcher Brody Garguilo caught Sisco attempting to steal second base.

Monmouth scored two runs on RBI ground outs after Denton’s RBI single opened the scoring and extended its lead to 4-2 on another one in the top of the second. In the top of the third, Eddie Segarra and Dom Golembieski struck for back-to-back RBI singles to push the lead to 6-2 and after Howell cut it to 6-4, Will Theobald singled home a run and scored after a stolen base and an error to give Monmouth a 6-4 cushion in the top of the sixth.

Rumson-Fair Haven 5, Matawan 4
Rumson took advantage of Matawan fielding miscues in both the fifth and sixth innings to surge into the lead and held on to score a road win over the Huskies.
Matawan failed to convert a pair of fielder’s choice ground balls into outs in the top of the fifth inning, with Rumson scoring a run on one to cut the deficit to 3-2 and and loading the bases with none out on the second of the two. Matawan reliever Sam Morris induced a double-play ground ball that scored the tying run.
In the sixth, Miles Martin led off with a double and again, Matawan could not turn a fielder’s choice into an out when the throw to third on a bunt by Parker Shenman was too late to get Martin. Shenman then stole second base and D.J. Ylagan gave Rumson the lead with an RBI ground out. Casper Billington followed with a sacrifice fly to score Shenman for a 5-3 Bulldogs lead.
Matawan battled to the brink of tying the game thanks to a pair of two-out walks by Liam Corbett and Nick Bucco, followed by an RBI single by A.J. Aversano that cut the deficit to 5-4 and moved the tying run into scoring position. Lorenzo Michaud extended the game by beating out a ground ball to the right side for an infield single, but Brady Dill coaxed a game-ending ground out to strand the bases loaded.

Redmond surrendered an unearned run in the top of the second inning and shut down Red Bank from there, with Chris Doody singling home the lone Bucs run. Will Marziarz was the hard-luck loser on the mound after pitching a three-hit game with six strikeouts.

No. 6 Colts Neck 14, Middletown South 10
Dan Annunziata and John Glusko delivered key hits during Colts Neck’s five-run fifth inning that proved to be the difference in the Cougars’ slugfest win over the Eagles.
Annunziata hit a tie-breaking two-run single through the middle to put Colts Neck ahead, 11-9, and R.J. Conover pushed the lead to 12-9 with a sacrifice fly to score Annunziata after he landed on third after a Ryan Rude double. Glusko then slammed an RBI double to make it 13-9 and scored the fifth run of the inning on a passed ball.

Manchester 4, No. 5 Point Beach 3
Mike Fink scorched a go-ahead two-run double with one out in the top of the seventh inning and the Hawks turned a game-ending double-play with the bases loaded to complete an upset of the Garnet Gulls.
After Fink’s double gave Manchester a 4-2 lead, Point Beach immediately loaded the bases with none out to start the bottom of the seventh and trimmed a run off its deficit when Chris Napolitano scored on an RBI ground out by Noah Banick. That left runners on second and third with one out and Manchester coach Dave Beauchemin opted to intentionally walk catcher and cleanup hitter Dan Lubach to face Dan Storch with the winning run on second base.
Storch ripped a line drive to shortstop, where Brody Body made the catch and fired to third base to double off the runner and end the game. Lubach had already burned Manchester in his prior plate appearance, which was a two-out, two-run single to tie the game, 2-2, in the bottom of the fifth.
Starting pitcher Brenden Spaziano staked himself to a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the top of the second inning and the Hawks pushed their lead to 2-0 on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Carino in the top of the third.

Toms River North 6, Toms River South 4
Pietro Amodio and Ian St. Luce each picked up an RBI single and Dominic Ostroman dealt for five strong innings on the mound in his first win of the season as the Mariners snapped the Indians’ six-game winning streak.
Toms River South authored a threat in the bottom of the seventh after entering the final frame trailing, 6-1. The Indians loaded the bases with none out for Brett Rankin, who ripped a two-run double down the rightfield line for his second RBI hit of the game. Ruben Febres followed with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to pull Toms River South within 6-4.
After Ian St. Luce hit Christian Mascaro with a pitch, Aiden Lynch dropped a single into rightfield to load the bases again with one out. St. Luce responded with a back-to-back strikeouts to end the game.
