Collin Denton drove in one of Monmouth’s two runs in the top of the first inning, then racked up 13 strikeouts in a three-hit complete game that capped his dominant season on the mound while also delivering the Falcons the Ted Jarmusz Bracket championship.
Denton’s 10th strikeout gave him 200 for his career — most of which he accumulated in the last two seasons. He allowed Middletown South an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning, then gave up a pair of singles to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Denton then notched a strikeout, a fielder’s choice ground out and a lineout to shortstop on the way to retiring the final 12 batters he faced.
Will Theobald led off the game with a double and scored on Denton’s single through the middle to open the scoring in the first two batters of the game. Vaughn Bociulis tacked on a run with an RBI single to leftfield for a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Denton also singled during Monmouth’s one-run inning in the second, with Beckett Langdon driving in the run on a fielder’s choice.
Denton finishes his senior season with a record of 7-1 and a 0.47 earned-run average in 59 2/3 innings. The St. Peter’s University commit struck out 83 and walked 14 in his final year as a Falcon.
Monmouth lost to Red Bank in the championship game of last year’s Jarmusz Bracket — a consolation bracket of the Monmouth County Tournament. Jarmusz was Monmouth Regional’s head coach from 1987 to 2013 and is currently an assistant coach at Red Bank Catholic.

Dylan Reynholds blasted a go-ahead solo home run to lead off the top of the eighth inning and the Colts rallied to beat the Maurauders in Jersey City while handing St. Peter’s junior right-hander Logan Chi his first loss of the season.
CBA tied the game in the top of the seventh on a two-out, RBI bloop single by Jared Matejicka to score pinch-runner Jayden Matejicka from second base. Danny DiTullio fired two perfect innings of relief to earn the win.
