Poly Prep (N.Y.) 1, No. 5 Ranney 0
Both starting pitchers took a shutout into the seventh inning in Brooklyn Saturday and after Duke commit Justice de Jong finished seven scoreless innings, his Poly Prep lineup supplied the game’s lone run in the bottom of the seventh to give him and the Blue Devils the walk-off win over the Panthers.
Justin Kauffman silenced Poly Prep through six innings, but hit the leadoff batter in the bottom of the seventh and, after a sacrifice bunt, surrendered the game-winning RBI single to Lachan Rudd with one out.
Ranney’s only scoring opportunity against de Jong came in the top of the first inning, when shortstop Ricky Lopez singled with one out and stole second base. De Jong recorded a strikeout and after Lopez swiped third base as well, de Jong coaxed an inning-ending fly out. De Jong did not allow a baserunner to reach second base the rest of the way.

Jackson Memorial struck first on an RBI single by Anthony Milone in the bottom of the third inning and extended its lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth on a run-scoring error.
