No. 5 Point Beach 4, Toms River North 3 (10 Innings)
Chris Napolitano singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning and Bennett Moberg closed out the game on the mound with a major assist from rightfielder Dan Coleman as the Garnet Gulls went 10 innings for the second time in as many days, this time topping the Mariners.
Coleman started the winning rally with a line drive into rightfield for a one-out single and took second on a wild pitch before moving to third on Antonio Acevedo’s infield single. Napolitano then smacked a a ground ball through the middle to plate Coleman, giving Point Beach a 4-3 lead.
Ian St. Luce retired the next two Garnet Gulls batters to end the rally and Toms River North went right to work, with Justin Valles reaching on an error and Nick Daniele working a walk to place two men aboard with the top of the order coming up against Moberg.
Toms River North’s odds took a hit when Moberg struck out the next batter, but Vinny Vergona came through with a single to rightfield that prompted Valles to make a bid to score from second base. Coleman came up throwing and nailed the runner for the second out of the inning, with both Mariners runners holding at first and second.
Moberg then induced a ground ball to Acevedo at shortstop for the final out. Acevedo pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win and Point Beach’s three pitchers behind starter Noah Banick combined for five innings of scoreless relief.
Toms River North rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pietro Amodio led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Justin Caldwell to break up the shutout and the next two Mariners runs scored on a pair of errors, with Point Beach committing three of its five errors in the sixth.
Barnegat defeated Point Beach, 10-9, in 10 innings on Wednesday after Point Beach scored three runs with two out in the top of the seventh to extend the game.

Jackson Memorial 3, Manalapan 0
Two swings by Angel Cruz led to all three Jackson Memorial runs and Matt Colaneri came up one out short of a shutout as the Jaguars topped the Braves on the road.
Cruz hit a hard ground ball with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the third and Manalapan could not convert it into an out, allowing two runs to score on the error. In the top of the fifth, Cruz added to the Jackson Memorial lead with an RBI single.
Colaneri recorded the first two outs of the sixth inning, but a two-out walk left him at the 110-pitch limit for a single game. Brandon Wilson took over and after running the count full, finished off the strikeout for a one-batter save and a Jaguars win.

After a slow start, the Raiders exploded for 15 runs over the final four innings to score a win over the Cougars in a battle between two of the top public school teams from the two counties of the Shore Conference.
