Central Jersey Group 4
(1) Brick Memorial 28, (3) Middletown North 0
Senior quarterback Jason Lajara rushed for two touchdowns, senior running back Nazeer Whittaker rushed a touchdown and returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and the defense pitched a shutout as the Mustangs (10-2) defeated the Lions (5-5) to win their third sectional title and first since 2008. Lajara scored on a 1-yard touchdown plunge and a 39-yard touchdown run on a second-and-38. Whittaker scored on a 19-yard rushing touchdown and a 90-yard kickoff return.
Brick Memorial awaits the winner of Winslow and Millville in the Group 4 State Semifinals next weekend.
Central Jersey Group 3
(1) Holmdel 41, (3) Seneca 20
Senior quarterback Jack Cannon threw two touchdowns, ran for two touchdowns, and intercepted a pass on defense as the Hornets (9-2) defeated the Golden Eagles (9-3) to claim their first sectional title in program history.
Cannon found senior wideout James Murphy for a 70-yard touchdown and junior running back Matt Scheinman for an 8-yard touchdown. He also rushed for touchdowns runs of 65 yards and 1 yard. Scheinman added an 11-yard rushing touchdown. Sophomore wideout Anthony Serini scored on a 15-yard touchdown run.
Holmdel will await the winner of Cedar Creek and Mainland in the Group 3 State Semifinals next weekend.
Central Jersey Group 2
(1) Camden 43, (2) Wall 7
Senior quarterback Brian McKenna found senior tight end Justin Davis for a 5-yard touchdown as the Crimson Knights (8-3) fell to the Panthers (10-2). Wall battled in the first half keeping the score at 7-7 before the floodgates opened in the third quarter.
Senior quarterback Ahmad Jones threw two touchdowns to senior wideout Ibn Muhammad and one touchdown to senior wideout Ah’zier Pagan. Senior running back Christian Braxton rushed for two touchdowns. Freshman running back Jayden Boyce rushed for a touchdown. Sophomore defensive end Andre Robinson tackled a runner in the backfield for a safety.
Wall will finish their season on Thanksgiving when they host rival Manasquan.
Central Jersey Group 1
(1) Burlington City 28, (2) Shore 20
Junior running back Cole Torres scored three touchdowns as the Blue Devils of Shore (8-3) battled but fell short against the Blue Devils of Burlington City (11-1). Torres rushed for touchdowns of 30 and 6 yards and also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Logan Clark.

(1) DePaul 35, (8) St. John Vianney 14
Senior quarterback Zach LaBarca rushed for a 16-yard touchdown and found senior wideout Adam Urs on a 50-yard touchdown pass, but the Lancers (5-6) fell to the top-seeded Spartans (6-4).
(5) Holy Spirit 34, (4) Donovan Catholic 27
Senior quarterback Ty Costabile found senior wideout Emanuel Gerena, a former Donovan Catholic player who transferred to Holy Spirit, on a 1-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds to go in the game to lift the Spartans (7-3) over the Griffins (8-4). Holy Spirit drove down for the game-winning touchdown after trailing 27-26.
Costabile threw two touchdowns to Gerena and two touchdowns to senior wideout Taylor Cartwright. Cartwright also returned an interception back for a touchdown on defense.
The Griffins battled behind two touchdown runs from junior running back Alex Staten who scored from 62 and 12 yards out. Junior quarterback Kahden Davis found freshman wideout Justin Roberts for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Davis also scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown that was setup by his 32-yard pass to Staten.
(3) Red Bank Catholic 36, (6) Paul VI 0
Freshman quarterback Rahmir Rivera threw two touchdown passes, freshman running back Gabe Kemp had two rushing touchdowns, and senior wideout Dan Zabora scored two touchdowns and scored on a two-point conversion as the Caseys (11-1) throttled the Eagles (5-5) to advance to the Non-Public B State Semifinals.
Rivera found sophomore wideout Jason Berecsky on a 40-yard touchdown pass before finding senior wideout Dan Zabora on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Kemp scored on rushing touchdowns of 4 and 13 yards. Zabora also return an interception 37 yards for a touchdown.
Red Bank Catholic will await the winner of Paramus Catholic and Immaculata in the semifinals.
Wednesday, Nov. 12
Consolation
Middletown South 27, Raritan 14
The Eagles (4-6) rallied back from a touchdown deficit at halftime to take over in the second half, in consolation action against the Rockets (3-7).
The two teams traded scores to open it up, as Raritan junior running back Eric Berg caught a touchdown pass from junior quarterback Parker Needham to strike first, followed by a 67-yard end-around touchdown run by Middletown South senior wideout Logan Burbank on the first play of the second quarter, taking the lead after a two-point conversion. The Rockets re-took the lead on a 32-yard touchdown run from Needham minutes later.
Burbank opened the scoring in the second half with a 33-yard score through the air, followed by two fourth-quarter touchdowns from junior running back Justin Rosato from 25 and 38 yards out to seal the win.
Raritan closed its season Wednesday night, while Middletown South will rematch against rival Middletown North on Thanksgiving in its season finale.
