Nondivisional

Southern 13, Toms River East 6

Seniors Joe Kessler and Liam Griffin led a strong offensive performance for Southern (1-0) in an opening day victory over Toms River East (0-1). Kessler scored a game-high 5 goals while Griffin scored 3 goals and dished out 4 assists. Sophomore Shea O’Donnell added 1 goal and 4 assists. Sophomore Kyle Sininsky scored 1 goal and recorded 1 assist while Sophomore Cash McVey, Senior Collin Markoski, and Freshman Nico Iliescu each scored 1 goal for the Rams. Senior goalie AJ Mattern recorded 6 saves while Sophomore goalie Nick Hughes recorded 4 saves in the win.

For the Raiders, Junior Nicholas Caruso scored 3 goals, Sophomore Gerard Uzzolino scored 2 goals and dished out 2 assists, and Senior Nate Cummings scored 1 goal.

 

Howell 12, Colts Neck 2

Senior Vin Meehan scored a career high 5 goals and dished out an assist to help lead Howell (1-0) past district rival Colts Neck (0-1) on opening day. Junior Mike Kelly also had a career high day with 4 goals while Senior Nick Turturro added 2 goals and 1 assist and Junior Cole Reinsdorf added 1 goal and 1 assist in the win for the Rebels. Senior goalie Adam Baker recorded 11 saves.

 

Holmdel 17, Middletown South 7

Junior defenseman Marcus Cermele erupted for a career-high five goals and one assist and junior attackman Finn Buchan registered five goals and two assists to power the Hornets (2-0) past the Eagles (0-1).

Senior attackman Brian Volpe tallied two goals and four assists, senior FOGO Jack Powers won 22 of 27 at the face-off X, and junior goalie Jack Tiller made six saves. Freshman midfielder Anthony Serini and senior attackman Dylan Lee had a goal and an assist each, while sophomore attackman David Perrotti and sophomore middies Chris Drew and Ryan Pescatore had one goal apiece.

 

Manasquan 18, Red Bank Catholic 3

Sophomore midfielder Kieran Schneider exploded for career-highs in goals (2), assists (6), and points (8) to lead a balanced scoring attack that propelled the Warriors (2-0) to a dominant win over the Caseys (0-3).

Thirteen different Manasquan players registered a point and 10 different players scored goals. Senior attackman Brandon Kunz tallied a goal and four assists and junior midfielder Dylan Lu notched a hat trick. Senior attackman Ryan Aldi and senior midfielders Matt Schneider and Kai Donahue had two goals and one assist each. Senior defenseman Parker Harms and junior Colin Height each scored twice. Junior middie Lucas Longo had a goal and an assist and junior midfielder Frank Tackett scored once. Senior Pat Loxley made three saves to earn the win in goal while Cooper Daly, Thomas Canning, and MJ Femenella saw time and made one save each.

Sophomore midfielder Joe Egan scored all three goals for RBC. Julian Littman got the start and made three saves and Wyatt Curley entered in the second half and made seven saves.

 

 

Nonconference

Rumson-Fair Haven 12, Randolph 7

Junior midfielder Joseph Whitehouse sank four goals and assisted on two more and junior attackman Luke Lydon tallied three goals and one assist to lead the Bulldogs (3-0) past the Rams (0-2) at Borden Stadium.

It was a strong day for the RFH specialists, as sophomore goalie Peter Kessler made 12 saves and senior midfielder Rory Keane went 18-for-19 at the face-0ff X. Senior midfielder Britt Lumsden and freshman midfielder Lian Haggerty had a goal and an assist each. Senior midfielder Grayson Goldin and freshmen Teddy Whitehouse and Kevin Collard each scored once.

 

Somerville 12, Manalapan 6

 

St. Augustine 7, CBA 6

Christian Brothers Academy (0-2) fell to South Jersey power St. Augustine (2-0). Freshman Daniel Varone scored a team-high 2 goals in the loss for the Colts while Senior Carter McGuire, Junior Caden Lucich, Freshman Jackson Chaney, and Sophomore Turner Cooke each scored a goal for CBA.
