We’re back with the Week 5 NuVision Resolve Shore Conference Football Player of the Week poll where we post nominees for the Shore Conference offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week and give readers the chance to choose who should take home the award based on their performance in the previous week’s games.

Shore Sports Insider will also select its own offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

Read through each player’s accomplishments for the week and cast your votes. This week’s poll will close on Wednesday at noon.

OFFENSE

Caleb Brown, So., QB, Neptune

-Completed 3 of 6 passes for 106 yards with one touchdown and one interception, ran for 94 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, and rushed for a 2-point conversion in a 47-13 win over Point Beach.

 

Noah Cancela, Sr., WR, Freehold Township

-Caught seven passes for 146 yards and a touchdown to go over 1,000 career receiving yards in a 22-21 loss to Marlboro.

 

Jake Clayton, So., QB, Point Boro

-Rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on just three carries and completed both of his passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns in the No. 4 Panthers’ 40-7 win over Colts Neck.

 

Juan DeJesus, Sr., RB, Howell

-Ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and also had seven tackles and two pass breakups on defense when the Rebels upset No. 6 Manalapan, 14-6.

 

Nasir Jackson, Sr., WR, Toms River North

-Caught three passes for 101 yards and a touchdown and also returned a fumble for a touchdown on defense in the No. 1 Mariners’ 41-0 win over Toms River South.

 

Christian LaFonte, Sr., RB, Marlboro

-Rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries when the Mustangs rallied for a last-second 22-21 win over Freehold Township.

 

Jason Lajara, Jr., QB, Brick Memorial

-Completed 12 of 20 passes for 251 yards with one touchdown and one interception and ran for 93 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in the No. 5 Mustangs’ 24-7 win over Southern.

 

Ty Kline, Sr., QB, Pinelands

-Completed 11 of 15 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns to become the Wildcats’ all-time leading passer and lead the way in a 33-7 win over Toms River East.

 

Josh Moeller, Sr., QB, Shore

-Completed 19 of 24 passes for a program single-game record 261 yards and two touchdowns in Shore’s 32-0 win over New Egypt that gave the Blue Devils sole possession of first place in Class D North.

 

Justice Morgan, Jr., RB, Brick

-Ran for 59 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 1-yard touchdown run in overtime that sent the Dragons to a 20-14 win over Jackson Liberty.

 

Kellen Murray, Jr., RB, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Erupted for a career-high 212 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 17 carries to help lead the No. 2 Bulldogs to a 42-7 win over Manchester in a matchup of division leaders.

 

Quinn Niesz, Sr., QB, Red Bank

-Completed 12 of 17 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a touchdown in a 34-6 win over Lacey.

 

Xavier Nunez, Sr., RB, Raritan

-Totaled 184 yards from scrimmage on just five touches by rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown on four carries and catching an 86-yard touchdown pass in a 35-0 win over Monmouth.

 

Royalty Riley, Sr., WR, Central

-Caught five passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns and added an interception return for a touchdown on defense in the No. 12 Golden Eagles’ 30-0 shutout win over Barnegat.

 

Dominic Romeo, Sr., QB, Freehold

-Completed 10 of 17 passes and set career-highs with 266 yards passing and five touchdowns to lead the Colonials to a 49-34 win over Lakewood that snapped a four-game losing streak.

 

JD Teza, Jr., WR, Manasquan

-Caught six passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the Warriors’ 47-14 win over Ocean that snapped a three-game losing streak.

 

Shane Volante, Sr., RB, Middletown North

-Rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries to help lead the No. 10 Lions to a 41-22 victory over No. 9 St. John Vianney.

 

 

 

DEFENSE

Jackson Battaglia, Sr., LB, Manasquan

-Made a team-high 11 tackles including 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss in a 47-14 win over Ocean.

 

Blaise Boland, Sr., LB, Toms River North

-Recorded 11 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss to lead the No. 1 Mariners’ defense to a 41-0 shutout of Toms River South.

 

Eric Kobilnyk, Jr., LB, Pinelands

-Recorded seven tackles with two tackles for loss and ran for 74 yards and a touchdown on seven carries in a 33-7 win over Toms River East.

 

Bennett Lopez, Jr. LB, Red Bank

-Posted 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles in the Bucs’ 34-6 win over Lacey.

 

Mike MacLennan, Jr., LB, Neptune

-Had 10 tackles with one tackle for loss and also ran for an 18-yard touchdown in a 47-13 win over Point Beach.

 

Vince Meehan, Sr., DB, Howell

-Secured two interceptions, broke up a pass and recorded five tackles in Howell’s 14-6 upset of No. 6 Manalapan. It is the second straight game the Rebels’ defense has not allowed a point.

 

Jake Minniear, Sr., LB, Freehold Township

-Had a great performance in a 22-21 loss to Marlboro with a game-high 14 tackles that included 9 solo tackles, 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss.

 

Mike Pappas, Jr., LB, Brick Memorial

-Made a career-high 13 tackles with 10 solo stops and a forced fumble in the No. 5 Mustangs’ 24-7 win over Southern.

 

Diego Soto, Jr., DT, Central

-Had a career-best night in the No. 12 Golden Eagles’ 30-0 win over Barnegat with nine tackles and two sacks.

 

Brody Tooker, Sr., LB, Middletown North

-Made 11 tackles, 1 sack and 3 tackles for loss in the No. 10 Lions’ 41-22 win over No. 9 St. John Vianney.

 

Cole Torres, So., DL, Shore

-Recorded four tackles for loss when Shore held New Egypt to 93 yards of offense in a 32-0 victory that put the Blue Devils alone in first place in Class D North.

 

Jacob Zapata, Jr., LB, Jackson Memorial

-Made a team-high seven tackles and two sacks and added one tackle for loss when the Jaguars’ defense did not allow a point in a 17-14 win over Middletown South to stop a three-game losing streak.

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Frankie Aragona, Jr., K, Freehold

-Went 7-for-7 on extra points in the Colonials’ 49-34 win over Lakewood

 

Enzo Cagliostro, Jr., PR, Shore

-Returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown during the Blue Devils’ 32-0 win over New Egypt that gave them sole possession of first place in Class D North.

 

Dylan Lu, Jr., RB/KR, Manasquan

-Returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and also ran for 48 yards and a touchdown on six carries in the Warriors’ 47-14 win over Ocean.

 

Max Luzio, Sr., K, Marlboro

-Kicked a game-winning 18-yard field goal as time expired to give the Mustangs a thrilling 22-21 comeback win over Freehold Township.

 

Jack Marotta, So., K, Brick Memorial

-Kicked a field goal and went 3-for-3 on extra points to help the No. 5 Mustangs to a 24-7 win over Southern.

 

Carson Memmot, Sr., K, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Went 6-for-6 on extra points in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 42-7 win over Manchester.

 

Justin Rosato, So., LB/KR, Middletown South

Rosato supplied both of the Eagles’ touchdowns in a 17-14 loss to Jackson Memorial with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown. He finished with 10 tackles, including one tackle for loss.

 

Joe Muzzillo, Sr., K, Jackson Memorial

-Converted a go-ahead 33-yard field goal with under four minutes left and went 2-for-2 on extra points in the Jaguars’ 17-14 win over Middletown South that snapped a three-game losing streak.
