NJSIAA Tournament Sectional Final Round

 

Central Jersey Group 4

(6) Freehold Township 1, (1) Manalapan 0

A sensational performance from junior goalie Violet Matthews and the Freehold Township defense enabled the Patriots (10-10-2) to stun the formerly unbeaten Braves (20-1) and win the Central Jersey Group 4 title. Defender Sihera Karce scored the game’s only goal on a deep shot in the first half. Matthews finished with 11 saves in the win.

Freehold Township will play Cherokee in the Group 4 State Semifinals.

Central Jersey Group 2

(4) Allentown 2, (2) Point Boro 1 (OT)

The Firebirds (19-3-1) eliminated the Panthers (15-4) on a golden goal from sophomore Kaylee Feldman.

Point Boro forced overtime with a second half equalizer from sophomore Grace Tansey.

Central Jersey Group 1

(6) Shore 5, (9) Point Beach 3

The Blue Devils (12-7) defeated the Garnet Gulls (11-11) and avenged three years’ worth of postseason losses including in last year’s sectional final behind a sensational four goal performance from senior Jenna Eichenbaum. Eichenbaum scored on two penalty kicks in the first half to give Shore a 2-0 lead the half. She would add two more goals early in the second half to extend the lead to 4-0 and essentially put the game out of reach. Senior Megan Kelly also added a goal in the win.

The Garnet Gulls scored three goals in the final eight minutes from senior Baileigh Johnson, junior Avery Barger, and sophomore Nikki Meyer.

Shore will play Haddon Township in the Group 1 State Semifinals.
