Group D

Shore 3, Barnegat 2 (ET)

Sophomore back Gabby Garofalo delivered the game-winning goal off a direct kick from just outside the box with 40 seconds left in the second extra-time period to send the Blue Devils (2-2) to a victory over the Bengals (2-2).

Junior forward Jenna Eichenbaum scored twice in regulation for Shore while Barnegat received goals from sophomore Jayla Duff and junior Elizabeth Medina. Barnegat sophomore goalkeeper Ella Tortorici made 10 saves and junior Kylei Grant had one assist.

Barnegat opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Jayla Duff blasted a shot from 20 yards out. Eichenbaum did not wait long to respond, scoring the equalizer 40 seconds later after she slipped past the defender. Four minutes later, Eichenbaum scored again to give the Blue Devils the lead. Barnegat tied the game with 8:02 left when junior Medina scored on a scramble inside the box.

 

Group E

No. 7 Howell 3, Red Bank 0

Senior forward Ashley Smith scored a brace and junior goalie Leila Shaw made four saves to record her third straight shutout as the Rebels (3-0) blanked the Bucs (2-1) to remain undefeated.

After a scoreless first half, senior midfielder Allie Nase got the scoring started in the 54th minute and Smith made it 2-0 less than a minute later off a pass from sophomore forward Makenzie Memmolo. In the 62nd minute, Smith scored off a pass from junior midfielder Kendal Bleakley for a 3-0 Howell lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Casey Miranda made 10 saves for Red Bank.

 

Regular Season

Class A South

Toms River South 4, Brick Memorial 1

Senior Kat Wilkins scored twice and senior goalkeeper Hannah Puglisi made five saves when the Indians (3-0, 1-0) opened a 3-0 halftime lead to put away the Mustangs (1-3, 0-2) and remain unbeaten.

Freshmen Emma Turnbach and Brooklyn Chin each scored their first career goals, sophomore Ava Knight and senior Adyson Caputo had one assist each and Reese Lindemann made two saves in relief of Puglisi.

Junior midfielder Lila Hopkins scored off a pass from freshman forward Kaylin Doyle and senior keeper Giselle Lizardi made six saves for Brick Memorial.

 

Class C South

Southern 4, Pinelands 0

The Rams got two goals from Brielle Simon and Isabella Compitello to win their first game in the newly formed Class C South.

 

Nonconference

No. 4 Middletown South 5, Steinert 0

Junior forward Bea Tinoco scored twice while junior forward Julia Prettitore and sophomore Hayley Jamison had a goal and an assist each to power the Eagles (3-1) to a dominant win over the Spartans (2-3).

Senior midfielder Grace Gironda scored once, junior midfielder Nicolette Prince had one assist and freshman goalkeeper Julianna Fiore made four saves.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mia Petracca made 10 saves for Steinert.

 

Trinity Hall 6, Roselle Park 0 

The Monarchs scored five first-half goals to earn their third win of the season. Sophomore Eva Shaughnessy led Trinity Hall with two goals and Maris Child and Grace Greene both had a goal and an assist for Trinity Hall.
