No. 9 St. John Vianney 33, No. 7 Holmdel 19

Sophomore running back Abdul Turay ran for a career-high 223 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries as the Lancers (3-0, 1-0) opened a big lead and held off a late push to defeat the Hornets (2-1, 0-1) for a 33-19 Shore Conference Class C North victory.

Turay had touchdown runs of 51, 3, 55 and 21 yards and also had four receptions for 64 yards to give him 287 yards from scrimmage. Junior quarterback Zach LaBarca tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Brayden Delavega and finished 14 of 19 for 161 yards plus 69 yards rushing on eight carries.

Holmdel junior quarterback Jack Cannon ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries and completed 20 of 29 passes for 218 yards with a late 10-yard touchdown pass to Matt Scheinman along with one interception.
