Week 4 Shore Conference Football Divison Players of the Week

 

CLASS A NORTH

Offense

Owen O’Toole, Sr., QB, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Completed 9 of 13 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown to eclipse 5,000 career passing yards in a 34-6 win over Middletown South.

 

Defense

Patrick McGonnell, Sr., LB, Red Bank Catholic

-Posted 10 tackles, 1 sack and 4 tackles for loss when the No. 3 Caseys shut out No. 11 Marlboro, 42-0.

CLASS A SOUTH

Offense

T.J. Valerio, Sr., QB, Toms River North

-Completed 19 of 25 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 65 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries to lead the No. 1 Mariners to a 24-21 comeback victory over No. 4 Point Boro.

 

Defense

Zach Padilla, Sr., DB, Howell

-Intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown when the Rebels shut out No. 8 Jackson Memorial, 18-0.

 

Special Teams

Yianni Papanikolas, Sr., K, Toms River North

-Kicked the go-ahead 20-yard field goal with 46 seconds left and went 3-for-3 on extra points in the No. 1 Mariners’ 24-21 comeback win over No. 4 Point Boro.

 

 

CLASS B NORTH

Offense

Nick Cardone, Sr., QB, Freehold Township

-Completed 16 of 25 passes for 267 yards tied his own program single-game record with five touchdowns to lead the Patriots to a 34-21 win over Matawan.

 

Defense

Brian O’Donnell, Sr., DB, Middletown North

-Recorded three tackles for loss in a 35-7 win over Freehold for a starting defense that has not allowed a touchdown all season. Also ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass.

CLASS B SOUTH

Offense (tie)

Joe Vezzosi, Sr., QB, Central

-Delivered the best game of his career by going 15 of 21 for 301 yards and four touchdowns, including the go-ahead 13-yard touchdown pass to sophomore CJ Yates with 20 seconds left, to help lead the Golden Eagles to a 26-21 comeback win over Southern.

 

CJ Yates, So., WR, Central

-Caught six passes for a career-high 190 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 13-yard touchdown with 20 seconds left, when the Golden Eagles rallied for a 26-21 win over Southern.

 

Defense

Germaine Rice Jr., Jr., DB, Brick

-Returned an interception for a touchdown and also ran for a 32-yard touchdown in a 37-13 win over Toms River East.

Offense

Ryan Dougherty, Sr., QB, Manalapan

-Completed 9 of 12 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown, ran for 35 yards and two touchdowns, and tossed the game-winning 2-pt conversion pass to senior tight end Anthon Hammel in the No. 12 Braves’ thrilling 35-34 overtime victory over No. 7 St. John Vianney.

 

Defense

Michael Todisco, So., DB, Holmdel

-Returned two interceptions for touchdowns, recorded six tackles and caught two passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in the No. 10 Hornets’ 35-14 win over No. 6 Wall, which was unbeaten entering Week 4.

 

Special Teams

Brandon Mueller, Jr., K, Holmdel

Went 5-for-5 on extra points in the No. 10 Hornets win over previously-unbeaten Wall.

 

 

CLASS C SOUTH

Offense

Jaimin Parkinson, Sr., RB, Pinelands

-Ran for a career-high 237 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries in a 40-0 win over Monmouth Regional.

 

Defense

Jaeshon Smith, Sr., DL, Manchester

-Recorded a career-high three sacks when the Hawks beat Barnegat, 24-12, and shut down a Bengals’ offense that had scored 40 or more points in three straight games.

 

Special Teams

Ian Spicer, Sr, K, Manchester

-Kicked a 25-yard field goal and went 3-for-3 on extra points in the Hawks’ 24-12 win over Barnegat.

 

 

CLASS D NORTH

Offense (tie)

Liam Brosnan, Sr., RB, Point Beach

-Ran for a career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and intercepted a pass on defense in a 22-12 win over Asbury Park.

 

Eddie Novatkowski, Jr., RB, New Egypt

-Ran for a career-high 181 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries when the Warriors improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2011 with a 20-6 win over Keyport.

 

Defense

Brayden Nelson, Sr., LB, New Egypt

-Made nine tackles (6 solo) with 1 sack and 3 tackles for loss in a 20-6 win over Keyport, improving the Warriors to 4-o for the first time since 2011.
