2024 NJSIAA Football Group Classifications
The NJSIAA released its 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 football group classifications on Monday after the finalization of enrollment numbers by the New Jersey Department of Education
Public schools remain split into North and South sections in each of the five groups. The top 16 teams in each super section, based on the NJSIAA’s power point system, qualify for the playoffs before they are split into eight-team brackets in North 1, North 2, Central and South sections. The biggest change is in the two non-public groups where eight previous Non-Public A teams were moved down to Non-Public B. Non-Public A will now have just eight teams while Non-Public B’s roster has ballooned to 23 teams.
This includes Donovan Catholic and St. John Vianney, who are now in Non-Public B. This is especially significant for Donovan, which has been one of the top teams in the Shore Conference over the past five years but has run into juggernauts like Bergen Catholic and St. Joseph (Montvale) in recent playoffs. Red Bank Catholic has been a Non-Public B power in recent years with state titles in 2014, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Camden Catholic, Hudson Catholic, Notre Dame, Paul VI, Paramus Catholic and Pope John also moved to Non-Public B.
