Senior attackman Brandon Kunz scored five goals and assisted on three more while seniors Ryan Aldi, Matt Schneider, and Kai Donahue and junior Lucas Longo each scored twice as the Warriors used an 11-3 second-half surge to sink the Ridgers and advance to the Kirst Cup semifinals.
Down 3-1 after the first quarter and 7-3 late in the first half, a goal by Aldi off a setup from sophomore attackman Kieran Schneider pulled the Warriors within three and ignited a blistering second half. Kunz and Longo scored in the opening 98 seconds of the third quarter and, after Glen Ridge’s Brad Foster scored his fourth of the game to put the Ridgers ahead 8-6, Manasquan scored eight straight goals to take control for good.
Schneider finished with two goals and three assists, Aldi posted two goals and two assists, and Longo notched two goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Jack O’Reilly and junior FOGO Will Conway each scored once and Kieran Schneider dished out two assists to round out the offensive production. Senior goalie Pat Loxley made 13 saves, including several big stops in the third quarter when Manasquan (20-3) took the lead. After Glen Ridge (16-9) took an 8-6 lead, Kunz scored three in a row, Conway scored directly off a face-off win, and Matt Schneider and Longo piled on goals in the final 2:09 of the quarter to give the Warriors a 12-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
After goals by Matt Schneider and Donahue made it 14-8, Glen Ridge scored two quick goals to get within 14-10. Manasquan called a timeout with 1:15 left and Kunz ripped a surprise shot from just inside the restraining line for his fifth goal and a 15-10 lead.
