Lajara, Andrews lead No. 6 Brick Memorial past Brick

Everything was clicking for Brick Memorial on Friday night.

The Mustangs, ranked No. 6 in the Shore Sports Insider Top 12, ran for over 300 yards and stormed past rival Brick, 37-6, in a Shore Conference nondivisional game at Brick’s Keller Memorial Field.

Senior quarterback Jason Lajara ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 60 yards, while senior running back Kevin Andrews ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns to push the Mustangs to a 2-0 start. Junior tight end Trey Tallmadge added a 75-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and also had a 2-point conversion. Seniors Jaxon Figueroa and Matt Hillin also tallied 2-point conversions. Senior defensive lineman Ben Szuba had a fumble recovery.

Sean Savannah caught a touchdown pass from James Hirtes for Brick.

Brick Memorial’s 31-point win is their largest margin of victory over Brick since a 42-7 win in 2004 and is the largest margin of victory in the series since Brick won 42-0 in 2014.
