Class A North

No. 10 Holmdel 2, No. 4 Manalapan 1

Senior Dom Poli scored a pair of first-half goals and the Hornets (5-2-1, 2-1-1) held off Manalapan’s second-half push to nail down a key Class A North win over the Braves (4-2-2, 1-2-1).

Poli opened the scoring in the sixth minute off a pass from junior Lucas Nobrega to stake Holmdel to an early 1-0 lead. In the 30th, Poli added his second goal off an assist from fellow senior Luke Farrugia.

Senior Ethan Lustig — who scored the golden goal in Thursday’s win for Manalapan over Manasquan — cut the Holmdel lead in half with a goal in the 50th minute.

Class A Central

Ocean 5, Middletown North 2

Junior Nic Critelli exploded for a career-high four goals and senior Brandon Cosentino chipped in with a goal and two assists as the Spartans (7-3, 2-2) marched past the Lions (1-8-1, 0-3-1).

Senior Cam DelGrosso scored a goal and assisted one by classmate Louis Romero to lead Middletown North.

No. 7 Manasquan 3, Wall 1

Senior Cruz Farkas scored the equalizer late in the first half and delivered the game-winner in the 71st minute as the Warriors (7-2, 4-0) manufactured enough late offense to finish off a win over the rival Crimson Knights (4-4, 2-2).

Farkas tied the game, 1-1, with a turn-and-finish in the 37th minute and with under 10 minutes to go, the senior striker pounced on a loose ball in the box and knocked it in for a 2-1 lead.

Junior Luke Byrne capped the Manasquan scoring with a goal in the 75th minute. Junior Shane Womack staked Wall to a 1-0 lead with a goal 10 minutes into the match.

No. 8 Middletown South 0, St. John Vianney 0

 

Class A South

Southern 2, No. 5 Toms River East 1 (OT)

Senior Brody Nacarlo tapped in a rebound after an initial shot by classmate Caden Schweigart in the first 30 seconds of the second overtime period and the Rams (5-3-1, 2-2-1) handed the Raiders (9-1, 4-1) their first loss of the season.

Schweigart also scored the first goal of the game, collecting a through-ball from senior Nick Leiraio late in the first half and finishing his fourth goal in the last two games. Toms River East equalized 11 minutes into the second half on the eighth goal of the season by senior Aiden Reis.

 

Class B North

No. 3 Long Branch 4, Raritan 0

Senior Chris De Oliveira Santos scored the first and final goals of the game and classmate Thomas Silva contributed a goal and an assist in the second half to lead the Green Wave (7-0-1, 4-0-0) over the Rockets (3-6, 1-3), keeping Long Branch the final undefeated team in the Shore Conference.

Sophomore Carlos Rodas assisted De Oliveira Santos’s goal that opened the scoring and De Oliveira Santos finished off a pass from Silva to extend the lead to 4-0. Sophomore Ricardo Portillo scored off an assist from senior Marvin Oyuela for a 2-0 Long Branch lead before halftime and Silva made it 3-0 with a finish off a feed from senior Joao Dos Santos.

 

Class B Central

Asbury Park 4, Red Bank Catholic 1

Sophomore Christopher Torres scored two goals and assisted another to lead the Blue Bishops (6-3, 5-0) over the Caseys (4-5-1, 3-2-0), keeping Asbury Park unbeaten in Class B Central division play — one half-game better than Ranney (8-1, 4-0) in the race for first place in the division.

Senior Dain Salazar scored a goal and dished out an assist and senior Kerry St. Vilus also scored a goal for Asbury Park.

 

Class B South

No. 6 Brick Memorial 5, Point Beach 1

Junior Nate Stryker scored three unanswered goals in the second half and for the second straight year, the Mustangs (8-3, 5-0) beat the Garnet Gulls (7-3, 2-3) to clinch a division title, this time claiming the outright Class B South championship a year after winning a share of the Class C South championship.

Stryker scored his first goal a minute after Point Beach tied the game with a penalty kick in the 56th minute, finishing a pass from senior Alex Santos to give Brick Memorial a 2-1 lead. Stryker began a run of three insurance goals in five minutes with a goal in the 74th minute off a feed from senior Landon Amalfa, then completed the hat trick in the 78th off a pass from senior Brody Marotta.

Sophomore Jake Emmons capped the scoring in the 79th off an assist from senior Angel Cabrera.

Junior Nick Stryker gave Brick Memorial a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 14th minute off a pass from senior Elin Torres — the lone goal of the first half.

Toms River South 2, Jackson 0

Senior Shane Gambarony scored a goal in each half and the Indians (7-1-1, 4-1-0) and freshman goalkeeper Connor Starr blanked the Jaguars (7-5, 2-3) to secure the team’s sixth straight win.

Senior Nigel Graham played a long pass through the defense to turn Gambarony loose for the finish in the 31st minute. In the 77th, it was senior Owen Beneciuk who found Gambarony for the insurance goal.

 

Class C South

Barnegat 5, New Egypt 1

Senior Aiden O’Halloran rolled up a hat trick and both freshman Ethan Salazar and sophomore Oscar Jaimes-Villa each scored their first varsity goal to lead the Bengals (6-4, 3-1) to a win over the Warriors (3-6, 2-2).

O’Halloran also dished out an assist, as did seniors Riley Stolte and Ethan Yllanes. Junior Nico Ferriolo scored for New Egypt.

 

Non-Division

Freehold Twp. 4, Howell 1

Sophomore Chase Melcher and seniors Gino Castaneda and Alex Rivera sparked a run of four unanswered goals during the second half and the Patriots (5-3-1) bounced back from an early Howell goal to top the Rebels (2-6-1).

Melcher scored the equalizer by knocking in a rebound off an initial shot by Castaneda, followed by a go-ahead scored by Rivera off a cross from junior Greyson Fitch. Castaneda finished a goal for a 3-1 lead and senior Caine Massey capped the scoring off a pass from classmate Gabe Bormolini.

Sophomore Juan Maria struck for a goal in the first half to give Howell a 1-0 lead that the Rebels would take into the second half.
