Class A North

No. 2 Colts Neck 3, No. 5 Holmdel 0

Junior Sean Moore scored a goal and assisted the two others and the Cougars (7-1, 4-1) pulled away late to turn back the Hornets (5-3-1, 2-2-1) and get back on the winning side after dropping its first loss of the season Friday vs. CBA.

Moore assisted a first-half goal by senior Gabe Kruglyanksi that gave Colts Neck a 1-0 lead. The Cougars nursed the one-goal advantage until the 74th minute, when Moore finished a pass from Leo Shatku to provide a goal of insurance.

In the the 77th, senior Ben Kazani converted a pass from Moore into a goal to put the game away.

Marlboro 3, No. 6 Manalapan 2 (OT)

Senior Gianni Liscandra scored the golden goal with under 1:30 to go in the second overtime period and the Mustangs (4-2-3, 1-2-3) erased a 2-0 deficit to stun the Braves (4-3-2, 1-3-1) in extra time.

Senior Dean Allegretta collected the ball off a corner kick and played it over to Liscandra, who buried a far-post shot to complete the Marlboro comeback and Mustangs’ fifth overtime game. Marlboro is 2-0-3 in its three extra-time games this season, including three straight draws prior to Tuesday’s win.

Trailing by two goals midway through the second half, the Mustangs cut their deficit in half when senior Aidan Lang chested down a cross to senior Vinny Pollifrone, who slammed in a volley from eight years out.

In the 68th, Lang sent a flick forward to Allegretta, who drilled a shot off the bottom of the crossbar and down over the end-line for the equalizer.

Manalapan jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a header by junior Ryan Seybuck off a cross by senior Ethan Rosenfeld. The Braves added to their lead in the 30th minute, when senior Edoardo Russo beat his defender up the left flank, cut the ball in and curled a far-post shot into the right corner of the goal.

Marlboro junior goalkeeper Konstantinos Mastrokalos made two key saves in overtime to keep Manalapan from winning the game, including a save on a direct kick to the near post and another out of a scramble inside the box that Mastrokalos stopped with a dive to his right.

 

Class A Central

St. John Vianney 3, Ocean 1

Senior Ethan Bellone assisted goals by classmates Isaiah Boone and Cyril Azer and the Lancers (3-4-4, 1-2-3) notched their first divisional win of the season by knocking off the Spartans (7-4, 2-3) for the second straight year.

Boone gave SJV a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute off Bellone’s first assist before Ocean drew even on a goal by junior Louis Vitale early in the second half.

The Lancers pulled back in front in the 64th minute on Azer’s goal and added an insurance score in the 71st on a goal by sophomore Greg Azer off a feed from senior Alex Cardenas.

No. 8 Manasquan 3, Shore 1

Senior Cruz Farkas scored two go-ahead goals and the Warriors (8-2, 5-0) topped the Blue Devils (5-4-1, 2-2-1) to clinch the outright Class A Central division championship for their second division championship in the last three seasons.

Farkas opened the scoring in the first half and gave Manasquan a 2-1 lead just before halftime by converting a through-ball from fellow senior Quinn Juska for his 10th goal of the season.

Sophomore Noah Matuch knocked in a throw-in by junior John Visceglia for the lone goal of the second half to cap the victory.

Senior Declan Drucker scored the equalizer for Shore in the first half off a pass from sophomore Bryan Barbosa.

Middletown North 2, Wall 1

Senior Paul Que scored two goals in the second half and the Lions (2-8-1, 1-3-1) rallied from a one-goal halftime deficit to upend the Crimson Knights (4-5, 2-3). Junior Dolan Dunigan assisted the equalizer and after finishing the pass from Dunigan, Que picked off a pass in the Wall defensive third and slammed in the winning goal.

 

Class B North

Matawan 3, St. Rose 0

Senior Sean Sobocinski went off for a hat trick to carry the scoring in a shutout win for the Huskies (3-8, 3-3) over the Purple Roses (1-10-1, 1-4-0). Juniors Derek Busch, Gavin Heyward and Ryan Hart each assisted one of Sobocinski’s goals.

Freehold Twp 3, No. 3 Long Branch 2

Senior Geno Castaneda kicked off a five-minute scoring outburst by curling in a corner-kick equalizer in the 61st minute and the Patriots (6-3-1, 4-1-0) held on to hand the Green Wave (7-1-1, 4-1-0) their first loss of the season.

Long Branch jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick by senior Marvin Oyuela in the 14th minute after a hand ball in the box and the Green Wave maintained that lead up until the midway point of the season half, with senior goalkeeper Gerardo Rodas making two acrobatic saves in the first half to preserve the one-goal lead.

In the 61st, Castaneda bent in a left-footed corner kick that carried into the far corner of the net, with Rodas’s parrying the ball into the net after it was already over the line.

Less than three minutes later, senior Caine Massey served a free kick into the box and sophomore Chase Melcher pounced on the loose ball and buried it for the go-ahead score. Not even three minutes after the go-ahead goal by Melcher, his classmate, Jack Manfredonia, broke loose on a breakaway and followed up a save by Rodas to finish the rebound for a 3-1 Patriots lead with 14:29 left.

After scrambling to defend the Freehold Township attack for most of the second half, Long Branch applied pressure on the Patriots goals for the final 10 minutes and drew a goal closer when Oyuela’s free kick from 35 yards out bounced over goalkeeper Giuseppe Romano and in.

 

Class B Central

Monmouth 5, Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Dimitri Papantoniou collected a brace and the Falcons (3-7, 3-2) rolled to a shutout victory over the Caseys (4-6-1, 3-3-0). Senior Luca Tvrdik, senior Alex Bylander and junior Dario Dwomoh each added a goal for Monmouth.

Asbury Park 5, Henry Hudson 0

Seniors Dain Salazar and Kerry St. Vilus each scored two goals and the Blue Bishops (7-3, 5-0) continued to set the pace in the Class B Central division race by blanking the Admirals (0-5, 0-5). Junior Likerson Garius also scored a goal in the win.

Ranney 2, Neptune 1

Senior Eddie Magherini scored his 17th goal of the season and it proved to be the difference as the Panthers (9-1, 5-0) edged the Scarlet Fliers (2-6, 2-3) to win their ninth straight while keeping pace with Asbury Park in the race for the Class B Central championship.

Junior Trevor Davis scored the other goal by Ranney, with junior Juan Torres and senior Jack Fallon supplying the assists.

Senior Harin Gutierrez Moreno scored the Neptune goal off a pass from junior Hunter Reynolds.

 

Non-Division

Toms River South 3, No. 4 Toms River East 1

Seniors Shane Gambarony and Karsin Migliori assisted goals by one another and senior Jimmy Aguilar Ochoa capped a three-goal first half that powered the Indians (8-1-1) to a win over the crosstown-rival and Class A South champion Raiders (9-2).

Gambarony flicked a long pass from senior Nigel Graham to free up Migliori for the finish that made the score 1-0 in the the 10th minute. Migliori returned the favor in the 23rd by finding Gambarony for the goal that made it 2-0.

Aguilar Ochoa capped the first-half scoring in the 38th by working the finishing end of a give-and-go with Bain Howe.

Senior Aiden Reis broke up the shutout by knocking in a throw-in from sophomore Brady Gillen in the eighth minute of the second half.

No. 7 Brick Memorial 2, Howell 0

Junior Nate Stryker struck for two goals in the first half and the Mustangs (9-3) blanked the Rebels (2-8-1) behind a shutout performance by senior goalkeeper Ryan Wheeler and his defense.

Seniors Sebastian Millan and Elin Torres each contributed an assist for Brick Memorial.

Point Boro 1, No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Senior Alberto Boscolo-Cegion scored off a pass from Dean Cardia in the 21st minute and the Panthers defense and senior goalkeeper Logan Forte finished off the shutout in a key inter-divisional win for the Panthers (3-6-1) over the Bulldogs (4-3-3).

Lacey 3, Lakewood 0

Senior Tanner Grozinski scored two goals during a three-goal second half by the Lions (6-4), who kicked into gear after halftime to race past the Piners (1-8). Grozinski opened the scoring in the 45th minute off a long pass from senior John Heckel and later capped the scoring in the 68th off a feed from classmate Aiden Schmitt.

Senior Noah Riley knocked in a bouncing ball in the box in the 55th minute to extend the Lacey lead to 2-0.
