Southern 2, Point Boro 1

Senior Caden Schweigart opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match and classmate Brody Nacarlo broke a tie with the game-winning goal in the 45th as the Rams (1-1)  topped the Panthers (1-1) to claim their first win of the season.

Jake Greene pulled Point Boro even with a goal in the 38th minute off a pass from fellow senior Joe Doles.

 

Non-Division

Lakewood 7, Monmouth 2

Sophomore Abraham Torres rolled up a hat trick and junior William Alejo and sophomore Johan Rodriguez each added a brace to carry a scoring outburst that powered the Piners past the Falcons.

Alejo scored in the 22nd minute to open the scoring, but Monmouth countered in the 27th on an equalizer by freshman Casey Simon. Torres scored off a pass from sophomore Olin Cortez to give Lakewood the lead in the 31st minute, which the Piners took into halftime.

Torres made it 3-1 with his second goal in the 45th, which came off a pass from senior Yosiah Cruz. Senior Luca Tvrdik responded for Monmouth in the 48th before Alejo scored his second goal of the game in the 55th — the first of four unanswered goals by Lakewood in a span of 14 minutes.

Torres assisted the first of Rodriguez’s two goals and Jonathan Bravo picked up a pair of assists on Lakewood’s final two goals.

Rumson-Fair Haven 0, No. 6 Long Branch 0

Long Branch’s Gerardo Rodas (10 saves) and Rumson’s Jack Del Priore (eight) each turned in a 100-minute clean sheet as the Green Wave and Bulldogs battled to a scoreless draw. It is the fourth consecutive meeting between the two teams to reach overtime.

No. 9 St. John Vianney 5, Matawan 1

Senior Mason Boles posted a hat trick and the Lancers (1-0-1) rolled to a win over the rival Huskies (1-2). Boles scored four minutes into the match and finally added Matawan’s second goal in the 43rd minute, which came off a pass from senior Cyril Azer.

Boles then assisted a goal by senior Ethan Bellone to extend the SJV lead to 3-0 in the 50th, followed by a goal by senior Alex Buckely in the 65th off a feed from fellow senior Luke Noble.

Senior Ryan Hart broke up the shutout for Matawan with a goal in the 68th minute, followed by Boles’s third goal in the 76th, which came off Bellone assist.

No. 10 Ocean 4, Red Bank 1

Senior Brandon Cosentino and junior Connor Shaw each scored two goals — one in each half — to lead the Spartans (2-0) over the Bucs (0-2-1).

Cosentino opened the scoring off a feed from senior Jonathan Williams in the 21st minute and Shaw made it a 2-0 lead seven minutes later off a set-up from junior Brandon Johnson.

Red Bank cut its deficit in half in the 31st on a goal by senior Alex Salvo, with junior Billy Carbajal setting him up for the finish.

Ocean protected a one-goal lead until the 57th minute, when Cosentino connected for his second goal of the game — his second brace in as many games to start the season. Shaw capped the scoring in the 70th with his second goal.

Red Bank Catholic 4, Barnegat 1

Sophomore Cathel McStravick scored three goals on three assists from junior Jack Denver and the Caseys (1-0-1) cruised to a win over the Bengals (2-1). Luck Howarth capped the RBC scoring with a penalty kick.

Senior Ethan Yllanes scored the lone Barnegat goal.

 

Non-Conference

Freehold Boro 1, West Windsor-Plainsboro South 0

Sophomore Klodian Jaku parked at the far post and hammered home a cross from junior Ade Franklyn for the winning goal in the 78th minute and the Colonials (2-0) snagged a win from the Pirates (0-3) for their second straight victory to open the season.

Howell 3, West Windsor-Plainsboro North 2 (OT)

Junior Dylan Johansen converted a golden-goal penalty kick eight minutes into overtime and the Rebels (1-0) prevailed with a win over the Knights (0-2) in their season-opener.

Senior Zach Zimmer pulled Howell even, 1-1, with a goal in the 18th minute and the Rebels took the lead on a goal by sophomore Tom Beurskens — the first of his varsity career — in the 25th minute.

Senior Aarav Chanda scored the equalizer for West Windsor North in the 32nd minute and both teams went scoreless for the next 56 minutes until Johansen’s winning penalty kick.

Jackson 3, Hamilton West 1

Junior Serhii Hryoriak opened and closed the scoring with his fourth goal and fifth goals in the first three games and the Jaguars (3-0) topped the Hornets to extend their winning streak to three to open the season.

Hryoriak opened the scoring in the 23rd minute off an assist from senior Callan Granito and later extended the Jackson lead to 3-0 in the 64th minute off a pass from senior Nick Ifantis. Hryoriak also assisted a goal by sophomore Anthony Materia in the 44th minute.

Monroe 1, No. 2 CBA 0

Christopher Duran re-directed a free kick by Dante Aschettino into the net for the golden goal in the 89th minute and the Falcons (2-0) handed the Colts (0-1-2) an overtime loss in their first game vs. N.J. competition in 2025.

South Brunswick 3, No. 4 Lacey 1

Senior Madden Mozal finished a corner kick by senior Aiden Schmitt for the equalizer in the 30th minute, but the Vikings (1-3) scored twice before halftime on goals by Dylan Petersen and Anand Warrier and held on to beat the Lions (1-1).
