The Mustangs survived playing a man down due to a red card for more than half of the 100 minutes and Toms River South freshman goalkeeper Connor Star saved an attempted bicycle early in the second half as the the Indians (10-1-2) and Mustangs (4-3-4) settled for a scoreless draw in the deciding game for first place in Group 7. The tie clinches Toms River South first place in the group and a corresponding bye in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament.

 

Regular Season

Class A South

Point Boro 2, Lacey 1

Senior Dean Cardia scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute off a pass from classmate Jake Greene and the Panthers (7-6-1) rallied to beat the Lions (8-6) for their first division win of the season and their sixth straight win overall.

Joe Doles pulled Point Boro even with a penalty kick in the 33rd minute, which followed senior Tanner Grozinski’s goal in the 25th to give Lacey a 1-0 lead.

 

Non-Division

Freehold Boro 1, Jackson 0

Senior Kristian Jaku won a scramble in front of the net by knocking in the game-winning goal in the 85th minute and the Colonials (6-8) prevailed in an overtime clash against the Jaguars (8-8-1).

New Egypt 2, Lakewood 1

Senior Braeden Fischer scored the game-winning goal in the second half and the Warriors (4-8) pulled out a win over the Piners (1-12). Senior Dylan Harper scored New Egypt’s goal in the first half.

St. John Vianney 3, Barnegat 1

Senior Mason Boles recorded a hat trick and the Lancers (6-4-4) rolled to a road win over the Bengals (7-6).
