Senior C.J. Collins scored two goals in the second half, including one of three head-ball goals scored by Colts Neck and the Cougars (12-1) shut down the Green Dragons (10-4) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals on Monday.

Senior Gabe Kruglyanski opened the scoring with a header off a corner kick by classmate Ben Kazani in the 10th minute and Colts Neck extended their lead to 2-0 on a header by Dillon Younger off a cross from fellow senior center back Ryan Spencer in the 36th minute.

Collins scored his first goal 20 seconds into the second half by flicking in a far-post header by Nate Calhoun for Colts Neck’s third goal on a header. Collins added a second goal in the 56th after collecting a pass from Kazani, knifing through the defense and ripping a low shot to the right side of the goal.

(1) CBA 3, (17) Point Boro 0

Junior John Little scored the lone first-half goal, then seniors James Brady and Will Dreschler assisted goals by one another in the second half as the Colts (12-1-4) pulled away to beat the Panthers (9-7-1), snapping Point Boro’s eight-game winning streak while extending their own unbeaten streak to 14 games.

Little knocked in a cross from senior Ryan Asadi in the 29th minute to stake CBA to a 1-0 lead that it took into halftime. Two minutes into the second half, Dreschler took a pass from Brady and drove a shot inside the far post for a 2-0 lead. Dreschler then returned the favor by setting up Brady for a far-post finish in the 56th.

(10) Ocean 1, (7) Southern 0

Senior Brandon Cosentino converted a free kick by junior Luciano Ibarra into the game-winning goal in the 65th minute and the Spartans (11-4) held on to shut out the Rams (8-6-1), with junior Matt Makower earning the clean sheet.

Ocean advances to face No. 2 Colts Neck on the road Monday in the SCT quarterfinals — a rematch of last year’s SCT semifinal, won by Colts Neck, 2-1.

(14) Freehold Twp. 1, (3) Toms River South 0 (OT)

Senior Gino Castaneda’s corner kick late in the first overtime found its way through a see of players and Toms River South goalkeeper Connor Starr to tuck into the back corner of the goal and give the Patriots (10-5-1) an overtime win over the Indians (10-2-2).

The victory ends Toms River South’s 10-match unbeaten streak and sends Freehold Township to the SCT quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2019.

Toms River South nearly had its moment midway through the second half, when sophomore outside back Charles Cox clanged a shot off the crossbar, narrowly missing a tie-breaking goal.

(6) Manalapan 1, (11) Manasquan 0 (7-6 on penalties)

After Manasquan goalkeeper Quinn Petrulla saved his first attempt of the penalty kick round, senior Dan Altman connected on his second try to clinch the victory for the Braves (8-3-3) and send Manalapan to the SCT quarterfinals Monday against No. 14 Freehold Township.

Senior Ethan Lustig and junior Ryan Seybuck each made both of their attempts during the nine-round penalty session, senior Ethan Rosenfeld made his first before Petrulla saved his second attempt, and senior Edoard Russo made his lone attempt.

Manalapan goalkeeper Chase Lee made one save during the shootout and Manasquan (11-4) missed the mark on two attempts. Seniors Cruz Farkas and Landon Herbert each made two penalty kicks for Manasquan, with juniors Adam Rodricks and Luke Byrne each making one as well.

(12) Marlboro 1, (5) Holmdel 0

Junior Nick Hramyka scored on a half-volley off a far-post cross from senior Rishab Krishnan in the 58th minute and the Mustangs (6-3-4) held on to beat the Hornets (8-5-1) and advance to the SCT quarterfinals Monday at No. 4 Middletown South.

Junior Kosta Mastrokalos earned the shutout in goal with 12 saves. The goal by Hramyka was the only goal by either team in 180 minutes against one another this season, with the regular-season meeting between Holmdel and Marlboro ending in a 0-0 draw.

(4) Middletown South 2, (13) Lacey 0

Junior Connor Saul scored two goals in the second half and the Eagles (9-3-1) outlasted the Lions (9-7) to earn a trip to the SCT semifinals Monday against No. 12 Marlboro. Senior Luke Strada and junior Grant Pipercic set up the two goals by Saul, while senior Carson Perry locked down the shutout in goal.

(9) Toms River East 2, (8) Rumson-Fair Haven 1 (OT)

Sophomore Brady Gillen scored the golden goal with three seconds left in the second overtime period and the Raiders (13-4) survived a thriller against the Bulldogs (8-5-3) to reach the SCT quarterfinals Monday at top-seeded CBA.

After the official stopped the clock with 23 seconds left to separate players from both teams before a long throw-in by Toms River East, Gillen launched a throw into the box that Rumson kicked out of bounds past the touch line for a corner kick as the clock ticked away.

Vincenzo Nasuta served a corner kick to the near post that junior Evan Capetta flicked to the front of the goal. Gillen slipped through a host of players and volleyed the ball into the back of the net for his first varsity goal and the game-winner.

Prior to the golden goal, the goalkeepers on both teams made heroic saves to extend the game. Toms River East senior Aiden Corapi ripped a 23-yard free kick on frame in the 85th minute. Rumson senior Jack Del Priore made a diving save to his right, then lunged for a save on the follow-up to deny Toms River East’s best scoring chance after halftime until the last seconds of overtime.

In the 88th, Toms River East keeper Mike Moore made a leaping save on a dangerous strike by Rumson senior Patrick Huber.

Toms River East scored the game’s first goal in the 21st minute, when senior Aiden Reis knocked in a volley from junior Ayden Salazar after Gillen initiated the action with a long throw-in.

Rumson leveled the score in the fourth minute after halftime, with senior Charlie Gronau scoring from point-blank range after senior Kyle Winig headed Bobby Quaglia’s corner kick from the far post back to the near left post.

 

Consolation Round

(21) Ranney 3, (22) Red Bank 1

Freshman Miles Serrapica scored a goal and assisted another as the Panthers (11-5) beat the Bucs (5-11-1) for the second time this season. Senior Luke Greco and junior Harry O’Neill each added a goal and top scorer Eddie Magherini added an assist in the win.

(19) Brick Memorial 3, (20) St. John Vianney 2 (OT)

Senior Jon Acevedo scored the golden goal in overtime and the Mustangs (12-6) prevailed with a win over the Lancers (7-6-4). Junior Nate Stryker scored a goal to go with an assist and senior Landon Amalfa also chipped in a goal for Brick Memorial.

(24) Barnegat 2, (23) Middletown North 0

Senior Riley Stolte assisted the breakthrough goal by classmate Leo Chamorro in the second half, then put the game on ice with a penalty kick to lead the Bengals (8-7) to a road win over the Lions (3-11-2).

(15) Long Branch 2, (16) Central 0

Senior Brandon Mendoza scored off a pass from classmate Marvin Oyuela in the second half, then assisted an insurance tally by sophomore Ricardo Portillo as the Green Wave (11-3-1) blanked the Golden Eagles (6-8).

 

Shore Conference Coaches Cup

Round of 16

(5) Point Beach 6, (12) Neptune 1

Senior Dylan Ryan, junior Brody Powers and sophomore Abe Morgan each scored two goals and added an assist apiece to lead the Garnet Gulls (10-4) to a lopsided win over the Scarlet Fliers (4-9) that sends them to the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday at No. 4 Freehold Boro.

Sophomore Tyler Morgan also added two assists for Point Beach, while junior Dominic O’Neill scored the lone Neptune goal off a pass from freshman Tevenerri Verdieu.

(7) Howell 3, (10) Matawan 0

Junior Nick Osorio-Rodriguez converted a penalty kick in the 18th minute and added a second goal in the first minute of the second half off a feed from junior Andrew Holmes to lead the Rebels (3-12-1) to a shutout win over the Huskies (5-11), snapping a 12-game winless streak, an eight-game losing streak, and landing Howell in the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday at Toms River North.

Sophomore Tom Beurskens capped the scoring with a goal in the 60th minute.

(3) Wall 6, (14) Keyport 0

Senior Christian Garduza scored Wall’s first two goals and assisted the next three to lead the Crimson Knights (6-9) over the Red Raiders (8-6) and into the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday against No. 6 Jackson.

Garduza made it 1-0 with a penalty kick in the seventh minute and extended the lead to 2-0 in the first minute of the second half. Sophomore Chris Knight scored off a Garduza assist in the 48th, junior Shane Womack capitalized on a Garduza pass in the 51st and senior Tanner Griffin made it 5-0 in the 61st off Garduza’s third assist. Freshman Oliver Rhoades finished a pass from sophomore Jackson Napolitano to cap the scoring in the 69th.

Senior Joe Haney scored both Freehold Boro goals — including the tie-breaking goal in the second half — and the Colonials (7-9) held off the Rockets (4-11-1) to reach the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday at home vs. No. 5 Point Beach.

Junior Brandon Joseph scored off a pass from sophomore Chris Torres in the first half and Dain Salazar added an insurance goal in the second to lead the Blue Bishops (8-5-1) over the Hawks (6-8) to reach the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday at top-seeded Shore.

Senior Declan Drucker scored Shore’s first goal, then assisted the first of two goals by junior Michael Ilvento as the Blue Devils (9-5-1) battled past the Warriors (5-10) to reach the Coaches Cup quarterfinals Monday, when they will host No. 8 Asbury Park.

Sophomore Chris Perez Gomez scored the New Egypt goal.

Senior Michael Demilio scored a goal and assisted one by Peyton Auermuller as the Wildcats (2-9-2) rallied with two goals in the second half to force a draw with the Griffins (2-10-2). Seniors Max Durrazo and Charlie Yuro scored the two Donovan Catholic goals.

Senior Blakely Smith scored the golden goal in the eighth minute of overtime off the second of two assists by freshman Dylan Luby-Meier and the Admirals (1-6) pulled out an overtime win over Woodbridge Magnet (1-13) for their first win of the season.

Senior Albrecht Pineda scored the the game’s first goal to stake Henry Hudson to a 1-0 lead.
