Semifinals

(1) Rumson-Fair Haven 18, (4) Shore 7

Senior Mia Milkowski registered 4 goals and 3 assists, and senior Kat O’Connor registered 4 goals and 1 assist as the Bulldogs (17-4) jumped on the Blue Devils (16-6) early and never looked back to advance to the sectional championship. Rumson came out of the gate hot with 7 goals and led 7-1 at the end of the 1st quarter. They extended their lead to 12-2 at the end of the 2nd quarter. Sophomore Chloe Kelly netted a hat trick along with an assist. Senior Rachel James, the Bulldog’s all-time leading scorer, also netted a hat trick. Senior Daisen Iwan scored 2 goals and tallied an assist. Senior Kendall Carcaterra and sophomore Aly Megaw both added a goal. Sophomore goalie Sydney Kiernan saved 5 shots in the victory.

Senior midfielder Gabby O’Brien went out fighting with 4 goals and an assist in the loss. Senior Kendall Bennett added 2 goals. Senior Teagan Harmon scored a goal. Sophomore Marielle Montenegro registered 2 assists, and senior Jasmin Okuszka registered 1 assist. Senior goalie Sofia Merten saved 9 shots.

Rumson-Fair Haven will host second-seeded Haddonfield in the sectional final in a game tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th at 5:00 p.m. The two teams squared off earlier in the season with Rumson coming out on top by a score of 12-9.

The Blue Devils will be hit hard by graduation as they lose the likes of Gabby O’Brien (371 career points), Kendall Bennett (194 career points), Cami Grella (103 career points), and Sofia Merten (647 career saves) among others. They will return some young talent including sophomores Ava Matthews and Marielle Montenegro.
