South Jersey Group 4

Semifinals

(2) Southern 11 (3) Montgomery 8

Southerns defense bent, but did not break, and junior goalie Adyson Griffin stood tall in the last 6 minutes, stopping 6 shots, as the Rams (13-6) defeated the Cougars (14-9) in the sectional semifinals.

Southern built an 11-4 lead with just under 16 minutes left in the game.  Montgomery would not give up, scoring the last 4 goals of the game, but would run out of time as Southern defense buckled down.

Senior Delaney Falk led Southern with 4 goals. Freshman Mackenzie Sininskyand senior Avery Smith scored 2 goals apiece, and sophomore Kai Angelozzi, senior Piper Murray, and freshman Kaylee Gibson added a goal each.

Southern will travel to top-seeded Cherokee in the sectional final on Tuesday. Cherokee has eliminated Southern the last 3 seasons so the Rams will be seeking a measure of revenge.

 

South Jersey Group 2

Semifinals

(3) Manasquan 17, (2) Cinnaminson 9

Senior Sophia Evans and freshman Chloe Stevens combined for 10 goals as the Warriors (11-10) pulled away from the Pirates (16-2) to advance to the sectional final. Stevens scored 5 goals in addition to winning 10 draw controls. Evans scored 5 goals. Junior Ellie Sitar netted a hat trick for the fourth time this season. Sophomore Dylan Carnahan scored a goal and tallied 3 assists. Sophomore Ella O’Reilly added a goal and 2 assists. Sophomore Sterling Blum and freshman Olive O’Reilly both scored a goal. Sophomore Sarah Sharpe distributed 3 assists.

The Warriors will travel to top-seeded Allentown in the sectional final on Tuesday. The Redbirds have ended the Warriors’ past two seasons.
