Jersey Shore Basketball League: Legendary pro-am set to tip-off 57th season on June 24th
Throughout the first 55 years of history in the Jersey Shore Basketball League, Earl Foreman’s 55 points stood as the most points anyone had ever scored in a ‘JSBL’ championship game. Foreman, an accomplished player at Western New England College and later in the Eastern Basketball Association, set the JSBL championship scoring record in 1974 while playing for Larson Ford alongside former Monmouth College great Ron Kornegay. Both Larson Ford and Kornegay are still very much apart of the JSBL. Larson Ford remains in the league as the last remaining of the original franchises. Kornegay, a 2,526 point scorer at Monmouth and 2-time JSBL champion player, has been the JSBL commissioner since 2015. Both Foreman and Kornegay were present as recipients at the 2023 championship game when the league honored its 55th Anniversary Team. ABA and NBA superstars including Bob Verga, Kelly Tripucka, and the late Anthony Mason were among the players to receive the honor. Foreman’s record managed to withstand the likes of those players as well as over 180 ABA/NBA players that have appeared in the JSBL. The record seemed safe for the time-being until Diggy Coit showed up.
David “Diggy” Coit set the JSBL ablaze in 2024 from the get-go. The 5’11 guard was known for his scoring prowess at Northern Illinois where he scored just under 21 points per game. Coit would average 34.5 points per game in the regular season while playing for Sterns Trailer. With NBA defensive rules and spacing, Coit was virtually indefensible. In the 56th JSBL championship game, Coit would score 56 points on an efficent 22 for 38 from the field on his way to MVP in Sterns Trailer’s victory over Sea View Jeep. Coit would go on to play at Kansas where he started several games. He will finish his college career this upcoming season at Maryland. While Coit’s status regarding a 2025 JSBL appearance remains up in the air, here is everything we know for 2025 including information, preliminary rosters, and the league schedule.
The Jersey Shore Basketball League presented by Lomurro Law returns to Manasquan High School on June 24th
All games in 2025 will again be played at Manasquan High School with free admission. The first game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. with the late game tentatively scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
2025 Preliminary JSBL Rosters
*All JSBL Rosters are provided by the coaches. Players are not contractually obligated to play. Some players will be there every game, others part-time, and some will not show at all. This works both ways as occasionally a big name player will show up and play with little or no prior notice.*
*Former college players have been listed with their most recent college. Former Shore Conference athletes will have their school noted*
