No. 6 Brick Memorial 3, No. 5 Toms River East 1
Senior Justin Fabbricatore hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the seventh to make a winner of junior left-hander Brody Moore, who fired a one-hitter to pitch the Mustangs past the Raiders.
Moore’s only hit allowed was a ground ball to shortstop by Dan Nafziger in the bottom of the third inning that took one of many unpredictable hops on a fielder during Monday’s game.
A pair of errors set up Brick Memorial in the seventh inning with runners on first and third with none out. Shortstop Matt Ferrara struggled with the infield hops throughout the game, but made a spectacular diving stop on a hard ground ball up the middle hit by Gavin McCue. Ferrara fielded the ball on the grass, popped up to hold the speedy Jimi Popp at third base and fired to first for the first out of the inning.
Fabbricatore then stepped in and punched a line drive into right field to score Popp and push Luke Douglas to third. Douglass then scored on a throwing error on an infield single by Moore.
Moore carved up the three hitters he faced in the bottom of the seventh, including a pair of strikeouts — the second of which completed his one-hitter.

No. 10 Jackson Memorial 5, Donovan Catholic 4
Charlie Buchinsky and Tyler Huzzy each delivered run-scoring doubles in the fourth inning, Brady Wendell knocked in a run in the fifth and Brandon Wilson worked out of a seventh-inning jam to finish off a down-to-the-wire win for the Jaguars over the Griffins.
Buchinsky gave Jackson Memorial a 3-1 lead with a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning and Huzzy followed with one of his two doubles in the game for an RBI and a 4-1 Jaguars edge.
Wendell’s RBI single in the top of the seventh pushed Jackson Memorial’s lead to 5-3 and Donovan Catholic mounted a threat in the bottom of the inning. The Griffins loaded the bases with none out and Lucas Affa hit a sacrifice fly to plate the fourth Donovan Catholic run and a wild pitch pushed the tying and winning runs into scoring position with one out.
Wilson walked Connor Bragg to load the bases again, then induced a ground ball to Wendell at third base, who threw to Huzzy at home plate for the force out. Wilson then ended the game by coaxing a first-pitch fly out to leftfield.
John Busco opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, but not before Huzzy threw-out a would-be base-stealer that took a potential run off the board for Donovan Catholic. The Griffins later cut a 4-1 deficit to 4-3 on RBI singles by Ryder Simpson and Colin Johnson in the bottom of the fifth inning.
