No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 7, No. 8 Jackson Memorial 1
Charlie Stumberger drove in four of Red Bank Catholic’s seven runs in the first two innings and the Caseys rode the early offense and a combined two-hitter by three pitchers to a win over the Jaguars.
After Jackson Memorial took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to three consecutive errors to open the game, following a run-scoring balks, Stumberger gave RBC the lead for good with a two-run, ground-rule double that one-hopped the leftfield fence. The final five RBC runs against Jackson Memorial right-hander Brandon Wilson were unearned, including four runs on four Jaguars errors in the bottom of the second.
Freshman right-hander Sam French overcame the three straight errors by his defense to open the game to earn his first career victory with four no-hit innings. Luke Meyers allowed a pair of singles in the fifth by Brady Wendell and Anthony Milone, but bounced back to strand the runners on the way to two scoreless innings of relief. Sean Minarick completed the two-hitter with a clean seventh inning on nine pitches.
Left-hander Chase Kanarkowski pitched four no-hit innings of relief for Jackson Memorial to keep the RBC bats quiet after the second inning.

Freehold Boro 3, Manasquan 1
Filippo Arena broke up a shutout with a solo homer leading off the top of the fifth, igniting a three-run inning and sparking the Colonials to a win over the previously-unbeaten Warriors.
Nick Lynch followed the home run by reaching on an error, but Manasquan starter Keegan Hertel bounced back from the rough start to the inning by retiring the next two batters. The second of those two outs, however, was a ground ball that advanced Cole Hurley — who reached on a fielder’s choice while attempting a sacrifice bunt — to second base with two out. Nick Russo then followed with a two-out RBI single to plate Hurley with what proved to be the winning run and, after Russo stole second base, Erol Bayrasli provided an insurance tally with another RBI single to make it 3-0.
Manasquan mounted a threat in the bottom of the seventh, starting with a leadoff single through the middle by Caden Eastmond. A dropped pop-up with one out brought the tying run to the plate for Manasquan and Shane Hagerman ripped a single through the left side to score Eastmond from second and send Matt Antonucci from first to third with one out.
Freehold Boro pulled starter and winning pitcher Amir Haniff in favor of Noah Ochojski, who started his relief outing with a crucial strikeout for out No. 2 in the bottom of the seventh. Hertel then drew a walk to load the bases and push the tying run into scoring position and catcher Connor Voelksen lined a shot into centerfield in a bid to tie the game, but Russo tracked it down and squeeze the ball in his glove for the final out.
Antonucci and Liam Opatosky each hit a triple for Manasquan, but both came with two out in the inning — Antonucci in the second and Opatosky in the fourth — and both were stranded to end each threat.

Ethan Barry singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh, which turned out to be the only hit of the game-winning rally. Raum Desai and Matt Iulo were both hit by pitches to load the bases, setting up the winning plate appearance by Rakoski with none out.
Each team scored all of the other runs in the game in one inning, with Holmdel taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Rob Mioduszewski gave Holmdel a 1-0 lead with an RBI single and Desai made it 3-0 with a two-out, two-run single.
St. Rose struck back immediately with three in the top of the third. Brendan Brophy and Dom Crudo hit back-to-back RBI singles with one out to make it 3-2 and Peter Nolan tied the game with a two-out RBI single.

Central 10, No. 5 Brick Memorial 7
Rob Bollentino capped an eight-run fifth inning by the Golden Eagles with a two-out, tie-breaking grand slam over the leftfield fence and Central hung on to knock off the Mustangs and extend their season-opening winning streak to four games.
Central entered the bottom of the fifth trailing, 6-2, but rallied behind a sacrifice fly by Gavin Srinivasan and back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Brayden Cimorelli and Mike Nieves to pull within 6-5. A bases-loaded walk by Jack Tietjen tied the game, 6-6, and Bollentino crushed a 2-0 pitch over the fence for a 10-6 lead.
Brick Memorial broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth with a four-run inning of its own. Tyler Garbooshian belted a tie-breaking two-run homer to give the Mustangs a 4-2 lead and Dan Golembewski made it back-to-back jacks with a solo shot one batter later. Brayden Nalducci followed with a double and scored on a two-out RBI single by Luke Douglas for a 6-2 Brick Memorial lead.
Tietjen had the only other run-scoring hit of the game outside of the fifth inning, which was an RBI double to open the scoring in the bottom of the first.

No. 7 Point Beach 11, Brick 8
Tommy Conroy bunted his way on early on in Point Beach’s six-run third inning and belted a leadoff homer in the following frame to help pace the Garnet Gulls past the Green Dragons for their fourth straight win to open the season.
Chris Napolitano led off the third with a double before Conroy set up runners on the corners with his bunt single with none out. Point Beach took the lead with a fielder’s choice RBI to score Napolitano and a passed ball to score Conroy before Brody Powers made it 4-1 with a two-out, two-run single. Dan Coleman then followed with a two-run double for a 6-1 Garnet Gulls advantage.
After falling behind, 8-1, Brick slugged its way back into the game with three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Sean Savannah singled in a pair to make it 8-4 in the fourth and Brannon McBride belted a three-run homer in the fifth to pull Brick within 11-7. The Green Dragons threatened again in the sixth, when James Donoghue singled home a run with the bases loaded to cut Point Beach’s lead to 11-8. Antonio Acevedo then took over on the mound and escaped the bases-loaded, one-out jam with a strikeout and a fielder’s choice ground out.
