RWJ Barnabas Health Arena, Toms River

(3) St. Rose 51, (2) St. John Vianney 46

Jada Lynch scored a game-high 19 points and Cassidy Kruesi buried four three-pointers during a 16-point performance that ignited a Purple Roses win over the Lancers, sending St. Rose to the SCT championship game Friday night at Monmouth University and ending St. John Vianney’s run of five consecutive Shore Conference titles.

St. Rose trailed St. John Vianney, 38-37, during the middle of the fourth quarter, at which point the Purple Roses ripped off an 8-0 run that gave them a 45-38 lead. Lynch scored the last two baskets of the run and after St. John Vianney snapped the run, Kruesi answered with a three-pointer to put St. Rose up 48-40. The Purple Roses pushed the lead up to 10 at 50-40 before closing it out.

Stella Lockhart led St. John Vianney with 18 points while Madison Kocis chipped in 15 in the loss.

(4) Red Bank Catholic 60, (1) Manasquan 41

Senior Tessa Carman led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points, including eight in the fourth quarter to help the Caseys close out the Warriors and reach the Shore Conference Tournament championship game Friday vs. St. Rose at Monmouth University.

Carman also grabbed six rebounds, while junior Lola Giordano provided 14 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench for Red Bank Catholic. Giordano scored 10 points during a 12-0 run by the Caseys that flipped a 12-9 deficit late in the first quarter to a 21-12 advantage early in the second.

Junior Addy Nyemchek also pitched in 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocked shots in the win, while senior Christina Liggio and junior Tessa Liggio each contributed seven points and five rebounds for RBC.

Junior Jordyn Hollawell led Manasquan with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, with senior Shea Donnelly hitting three three-pointers for nine points in the loss.

 

 

Coaches Cup Quarterfinal Round

(1) Jackson Memorial 58, (8) Southern 32

Trailing 11-8 after the first quarter, Jackson Memorial outscored Southern 19-7 in the second quarter and put the game away with a 21-4 third quarter. Five players scored double-digits for the Jaguars with Cali Brown scoring a game-high 12 points. Four players scored 10 points for Jackson Memorial with Isabella Finer posting a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds with her 10 points.

(13) Toms River North 44,  (12) Central Regional 32

TRN led 30-24 going into the fourth quarter and put the game away with a 14-8 quarter to advance into the Coaches Cup semifinal round. Senior Angelina DeCesare posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds  and Cara Sarluca added 10 points for the Mariners. Senior Vita Kelyman scored a team-high 11 points for Central.

(3) Marlboro 36, (6) Toms River South 31

Freshman Mackenzie Klatsky scored a team-high 12 points to lead Marlboro into the Coaches Cup semifinal round. The Mustangs led by 6 points going into the fourth quarter and held TRS to 6 points in the quarter. Freshman Daniella Gordon scored a game-high 13 points for TRS.

(2) Manchester 46, (7) Point Beach 30

A game-high 17 points from Freshman Jesse Sarana helped lead Manchester past Point Beach into the semifinals of the Coaches Cup. Sophomore Madeline Nolan added 8 points while Senior Jade Andrews added 7 points in the win for the Hawks. Senior Erin Frauenheim scored a team-high 15 points in the loss for the Garnet Gulls.

 

Non-Divisional

Lacey 51, Lakewood 26

Colts Neck 57, Barnegat 52

Trailing 26-22 at the half, a strong 3rd quarter helped Colts Neck retake the lead and ultimately hold off Barnegat in the victory. Freshman Emily Donahue scored a team-high 14 points while Freshman Avery Wallace added 13 points and Freshman Julianna Jasina added 11 points in the win for the Cougars. Senior Zemirah Enalls recorded a 23 point and 23 rebound double-double performance in the loss to the Bengals.

Freehold Twp 54, Toms River East 43

Freehold Township turned a 23-23 halftime score into a 40-31 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter in a win over Toms River East. Senior Ava Giordano scored a game-high 15 points while Senior Gaby Parker added 13 points and Junior Chloe Glickman chipped in 12 points in the win for the Patriots. Sophomore Kacey Briles finished with a team-high 14 points in the loss for the Raiders.
