Opening Round

(18) Toms River East 43, (15) Toms River North 39

Freshman Brady Gillen scored a game-high 19 points and the Raiders ended a drought of 30 games and 15 seasons without a win over Toms River North by beating the Mariners Thursday in the Coaches Cup opening round.

Sophomore Chase Baillie and freshman Tommy Intintola each added 12 points for Toms River East, which held Toms River North to 17 points in the second half. Senior Sherrod Nelson scored 17 points to lead Toms River North.

(8) Matawan 52, (25) Lakewood 47

Senior Amir Martinez scored 13 points and junior Colin Reitmann added 12 to lead the Huskies over the Piners and into the Coaches Cup round of 16 against No. 9 Shore.

(13) Manalapan 71, (20) Jackson Liberty 49

Junior Dean Aviles poured in 27 points and the Braves rolled to a win over the Lions to move into the Coaches Cup round of 16 Friday at No. 4 Point Boro.

Senior Aiden Sosinov added 17 points for Manalapan. Junior Aiden Brown scored 17 points and sophomore Aidan Kelly pitched in 10 to lead Jackson Liberty.

(14) New Egypt 64, (19) Brick 44

Juniors Clyde Ferris and Nolan Arnold combined for 46 points and the Warriors raced past the Green Dragons and into the Coaches Cup round of 16 Friday at No. 3 Brick Memorial.

Ferris finished with a game-high 24 points and Arnold kicked in 22. Sophomore Jamel Pitts scored 14 points and senior Jayden Johnson added 10 to lead Brick.

(21) Manchester 63, (12) Raritan 55

Senior Aidan Lunn scored a game-high 30 points and the Hawks went on the road to knock off the Rockets and advance to the Coaches Cup round of 16 Friday at No. 5 Middletown South.

Freshman Justin Roberts added 10 points and senior M.J. Goins pitched in nine for Manchester.

Sophomore Eric Berg led a balanced Raritan offense with 15 points. Freshman Mario Diamantis poured in 13 points, senior Xavier Nunez added 12 and junior Ian Mullan chipped in 11 and  in the loss.

(10) Pinelands 46, (23) Toms River South 43

Senior Ty Kline scored 18 points and the Wildcats outlasted the Indians to advance to the Coaches Cup Round of 16 Friday at No. 7 Keyport. Junior Josh Barongo also chipped in 12 points for Pinelands.

Junior Shane Gambarony scored a game-high 20 points to lead Toms River South.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 12

Shore Conference Coaches Cup

Opening Round

(9) Shore 59, (24) Monmouth 54 (OT)

Junior Andrew Barham scored a team-high 18 points and the Blue Devils (16-5) pulled out an overtime win over Class B North division rival Falcons (5-15) to advance to the Coaches Cup round of 16.

Senior Bryce Crowe added 15 points and sophomore Maddox Paulin pitched in eight for Shore. Junior Jaylin Reeves scored a game-high 19 points to lead Monmouth and sophomore Logan Conrade posted 10 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Shore will play the winner of Thursday’s game between No. 8 Matawan and No. 25 Lakewood on Friday in the round of 16.

(11) St. John Vianney 60, (22) Long Branch 17

Sophomores Justin Togans and Nicky Mejia each scored 15 points and the Lancers (7-16) handled the Green Wave (6-17) in a dominant round-one win that earns St. John Vianney a round-of-16 game at No. 6 Donovan Catholic on Friday. Joshua Da’Cruz scored 12 of Long Branch’s 17 points.
