Charlie Taylor and Owen Farley each scored 18 points and the Rams rode a dominant second quarter to a win over the Bulldogs (21-9) that secures Ramsey (23-9) its first ever overall Group II championship since 1950.
Taylor and Ramsey sixth man James Cunningham each scored seven points during a second quarter in which Ramsey outscored Rumson, 26-8, then made it a 28-8 run on a basket by Farley to open the third quarter and give the Rams a 40-20 lead. Rumson committed 11 of its 19 turnovers in the first half, shot 0-for-7 from the three-point line, 9-for-27 from the field (33 percent) and did not record an assist on any of the nine made field goals.
Cunningham closed the half with a steal and a dunk, followed by a three-pointer from the left wing to push the lead from 33-20 to 38-20 at the break.

Rumson rallied in the second half behind senior Luke Cruz, who scored 14 of his game-high 22 points after halftime while also grabbing 11 rebounds. The double-double was the 17th of the season for Cruz in his 19 games played.
Cruz hit a three-pointer and followed with a finish in the post to pull Rumson within 54-46 with 4:40 to go and after a Cruz pull-up made it 58-49 with 2:30 left, the Bulldogs were on the verge of forcing a turnover when Ramsey was granted a timeout called from the bench. From that point on, the Rams ripped off a 10-2 run to put the game out of reach.
