Class A North

Holmdel 59, St. Rose 50

Senior Jack Vallillo scored 17 points and sophomore Anthony Serini threw in 16 to lead the Hornets (5-4, 1-3) to a win over the Purple Roses (1-11, 0-4). Senior Connor Paul added nine points for Holmdel, which jumped out to a 16-8 lead after one quarter and kept St. Rose at bay from there.

Senior Tyler Cameron scored a game-high 20 points and senior O’Rien Campbell and junior Marco Leonardis each chipped in 10 to lead St. Rose.

No. 1 CBA 85, Red Bank 46

Senior Charlie Marcoullier erupted for a career-high 31 points and the Colts (11-2, 4-0) cruised past the Bucs (6-8, 1-3) for a bounceback win two nights after dropping a game at Bergen Catholic for their first in-state loss of the season.

Senior Connor Andree and sophomore Izayah Cooper each added nine points for CBA. Junior Will Galligan scored 11 points to go with five assists and sophomore Wyatt Hegner chipped in nine to lead Red Bank.

 

Class A Central

No. 5 Howell 61, Middletown South 50

Junior Jay Parker put up 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists and senior brother Cayden Parker scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter to lead a sizzling finish for the Rebels (9-2, 3-1) that lifted them to a road win over the Eagles (8-4, 2-2).

Middletown South led, 45-43, heading into the fourth quarter, but Howell seized control with an 11-0 run during the first 5:30 of the quarter and outscored the Eagles, 18-5, over the final eight minutes.

Junior Noah Musto added 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots while senior Freehold Township transfer J.C. Farley delivered 11 points and five rebounds off the bench for Howell.

Freshman Evan Wells led Middletown South with 14 points while classmate Ryan Gannon pitched in 12 points and four assists. Senior Matt Trimble added eight points, six rebounds and three steals in the loss.

No. 2 Wall 65, No. 8 Freehold Twp. 58

Seniors Dan Hennessy and Jake DeBrito combined for 31 of their team’s 41 points in the second half and the Crimson Knights (10-0, 4-0) came through in the clutch over the final 1:33 to emerge from a road test vs. the Patriots (7-5, 2-2) still perfect on the season.

Hennessy scored 15 of his game-high 22 points after halftime and DeBrito caught fire for 16 of his 21 after the break, including nine during the third quarter. Senior Brian McKenna also added 14 points and six rebounds, which included two tie-breaking free throws to give Wall a 58-56 lead with 1:33 left after junior Jake Schultzel pulled Freehold Township even with a three-pointer on the other end with just under two minutes to play. Hennessy converted a layup off a feed from fellow senior Liam Killea to push the lead to 60-56, then knocked down a pair of free throws to go up 62-56 with 40 seconds left.

Sophomore Aamari Alexander-Monroe converted a layup as he was fouled, but could not convert the three-point play and DeBrito sank two free throws on the other end with 19 seconds left to push the lead back to six and ice the game.

Schultzel led Freehold Township with 22 points, including 18 points and four three-pointers in the second half. Alexander-Monroe added 12 points in the loss.

 

Class B North

Colts Neck 40, Freehold Boro 29

Sophomore Nate Sloane scored a game-high 16 points and the Cougars (7-3, 3-1) continued to play shutdown defense, this time holding the Colonials (5-7, 1-4) under 30 points to pick up a home win.

Senior Dillon Younger poured in nine of his 11 points in the first half for Colts Neck, which has held each of its last two opponents (Marlboro and Freehold Boro) to a combined 61 points in two victories.

Seniors Mike Cush and Max Girandola each scored eight points to lead Freehold Boro.

 

Class B Central

Raritan 52, Long Branch 40

Junior Eric Berg scored 20 points and the Rockets (4-7, 1-3) tamed the Green Wave (4-8, 0-4) in a Class B Central game between teams searching for their first divisional win of the season. Senior Ian Mullan added eight points and seven rebounds for Raritan.

Monmouth 57, Matawan 47

Senior Ahmir Wiggins scored 23 points and senior Charles Tinsley stepped in for injured junior forward Logan Conrade to score 14 points as the Falcons (8-3, 3-1) handed the Huskies (6-7, 4-1) their first Class B Central division loss, tightening up the race for first place between Monmouth, Matawan and Ocean (7-6).

 

Class C North

Keyport 61, Asbury Park 45

Two nights after scoring a career-high 32 points, senior Kai Arrington topped that mark with 35 points Friday to lead the Red Raiders (6-5, 2-1) to a road win over the Blue Bishops (0-9, 0-3).

Junior Demitrius Attia added eight points for Keyport, while senior Ny’John Kirkpatrick led Asbury Park with 17 points.

Shore 67, Keansburg 34

Senior Andrew Barham led four Shore scorers in double-figures with 19 points and the Blue Devils rolled to a win over the Titans. Senior Finn Watson chipped in 15 points, junior Maddox Paulin netted 11 and senior Ryan Barham contributed 10 for Shore, which won for the eighth time in its last nine games.

Senior I’Shone Young and sophomore Taurian Black each scored eight points to lead Keansburg.

 

Non-Division

No. 7 Point Beach 48, New Egypt 44

Senior Elijah Ives scored 16 points and the Garnet Gulls (11-2) fought back an upset bid by the Warriors (7-6) to win their seventh straight after heading into the fourth quarter tied.

Junior Tyler Preston poured in 13 points and classmate Danny Cavanaugh added 12 for Point Beach, which won the fourth quarter 16-12 and got back into the game with a 19-6 second-quarter run after New Egypt built a nine-point lead through one quarter.

Senior Nolan Arnold scored a game-high 19 points and classmate Clyde Ferris chipped in 11 to lead New Egypt.

 

Non-Conference

Henry Hudson 84, Academy Charter 46

Junior JoJo Newell went off for 37 points in his fourth game of at least 30 points this season and the Admirals (8-4) coasted to a win over the Panthers (0-6).

Junior Blakely Smith poured in 18 points and senior Billy Quinn threw in 10 for Henry Hudson, which is 8-2 since losing its first two games of the season. Those two losses are to Shore and Red Bank Regional by a combined margin of three points.
