Holmdel 54, Red Bank 34
Senior Jack Vallillo scored a game-high 19 points and sophomore teammate Anthony Serini poured in 14 to spark the Hornets (6-4, 2-3) to a win over the Bucs (6-9, 1-4).
Senior Connor Paul added eight points for Holmdel, which built a 25-13 lead by halftime and put the game away with a 20-point third quarter to go up 17. Sophomore Wyatt Hegner led Red Bank with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, with junior Justin Valentino kicking in nine points in the loss.
No. 1 CBA 50, No. 6 Manasquan 46
Senior Connor Andree capped a 14-point performance with a critical lay-up in the final 20 seconds and junior Avery Lynch scored all 11 of his points in the fourth quarter to help the Colts (13-2, 5-0) escape another near-upset, this time against the Warriors (7-6, 3-2) in Manasquan.
CBA enjoyed its largest lead of the game at 37-20 with 2:30 remaining in the third quarter, but Manasquan came alive to scored 12 unanswered points, the last eight of which came from sophomore Luke Winn. Behind Lynch’s fourth-quarter awakening, CBA pushed its lead back to 46-37, but Manasquan again struck back with eight straight points, including a three-point play and three-pointer from the wing by junior Logan Cleveland — the latter of which made it 46-45 with 3:15 to go.
Manasquan had multiple chances to take the lead — including a pair of missed free throws with under two minutes to go — and with a minute left, CBA drained the clock to under 30 seconds before senior Charlie Marcoullier attacked along the baseline and found Andree for a short floater in the paint that put CBA ahead, 48-45, with 18 seconds left.
CBA elected to foul Manasquan senior Jack Lattimer with eight seconds left to put him on the line and Lattimer made the first of two free throws before missing the second. Lynch grabbed the rebound and was fouled with six seconds left and missed both free throws to give Manasquan an opening, but Lynch followed his missed with an offensive rebound and putback for the clinching basket.
Sophomore Izayah Cooper added 10 points for CBA, while Cleveland led Manasquan with 13. Winn finished with 10 and senior Jack O’Reilly pitched in eight in the loss.
Class A Central
Middletown South 56, No. 9 Freehold Twp. 40
Freshman Evan Wells poured in 10 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and the Eagles (9-5, 3-2) snapped a three-game losing streak by downing the Patriots (7-6, 2-3) for their second win over an SSI-ranked opponent in the last 11 days.
Freshman Ryan Gannon added 14 points for Middletown South, which shot 15-for-15 from the free-throw line as a team. Senior Beckett Oliver chipped in eight points and classmate Matt Trimble contributed six for the Eagles, who outscored Freehold Township, 16-4, in the second quarter and closed the game with an 18-8 run for the duration of the fourth quarter.
Junior John O’Neill scored 11 points and classmate Jake Schultzel added eight to lead Freehold Township.
No. 5 Howell 73, St. John Vianney 65
Junior Jayson Parker and senior Cayden Parker each broke the 20-point threshold and four Howell players reached double-figure scoring to carry the Rebels (10-2, 4-1) to their fifth straight win on the strength of a road victory over the Lancers (4-11, 1-4).
Jayson Parker led Howell with 22 points, with Cayden Parker going for 21. Junior Noah Musto poured in 18 points and junior Eddie Garcia chipped in 10 for Howell. Junior Danny O’Neill led St. John Vianney with a game-high 27 points and senior teammate Nick Roselli scored all nine of his points in the second half.
Class A South
Donovan Catholic 62, Barnegat 46
Senior Pat Gallo scored 17 points and junior Gabe Feliciano netted 15 to highlight the Griffins (4-6, 1-3) offense in a win over the Bengals (5-7, 0-4) that snaps a five-game losing streak.
Junior Anthony Streeter added 10 points and freshman Gerard Gallo threw in seven for Donovan Catholic. Senior Donovan Paul scored a game-high 18 points and freshman Myles Joseph pitched in 10 to lead Barnegat.
Jackson 58, No. 10 Central 48
Senior Jimmy Pappalardo scored 11 of his 19 points while helping to lead a furious fourth-quarter rally that propelled the Jaguars (9-4, 3-1) to a road win over the Golden Eagles (8-5, 3-1) that tightens up the Class A South divisional race between co-leaders Jackson, Central and Southern (7-5, 3-1).
Sophomore Mi’Aire Anderson added 13 points and eight rebounds and senior George Boley contributed 11 of his 13 points in the fourth for Jackson, which erased a 10-point lead by outscoring Central, 26-3, and held the Golden Eagles without a field goal in the fourth quarter before a three-pointer by junior Derek Roth as time expired made it 26-6 for the quarter. Senior Sean Hallihan also threw in eight points in the win.
Roth led Central with a game-high 20 points while also grabbing eight rebounds. Sophomore Caden King and junior Tyler Woermer each added eight points in the loss, with King also contributing three assists and three steals and Woermer pulling in five boards.
Class B North
No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 48, Colts Neck 43
Sophomore Ryan Bailey led a balanced RBC performance with 12 points off the bench on four three-pointers and junior Tyler Hager posted a double-double to help the Caseys (11-3, 5-0) prevail in a road battle against the Cougars (8-4, 3-2), snapping Colts Neck’s four-game winning streak and tightening their grip on first place in the Class B North standings.
Hager finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocked shots and RBC’s four starting guards each contributed between six and eight points to round out a balanced scoring effort. Junior Gavin Biasi posted eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, while classmate Ryder Ciorciari hit a pair of three-pointers for six points, including a three that gave RBC a 45-41 lead with 45 seconds left. Ciorciari also dished out three assists.
Seniors James Hankowski and Ryan Saxton each scored six points as well, with Hankowski hitting a go-ahead three from the corner to give RBC a 42-40 lead with just over two minutes left after Colts Neck took its only lead of the second half.
Sophomore Nate Sloane and senior Dillon Younger combined for 40 of Colts Neck’s 43 points, with Sloane going for 26 points, six rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals and Younger putting up 14 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior Liam Collura made the only other shot for Colts Neck, which was a three-pointer that tied the game, 39-39, with 3:17 left.
No. 8 Marlboro 67, Middletown North 61
Junior Dylan McEwan scored 20 points and all five Marlboro starters scored at least eight points to help the Mustangs (10-3, 3-2) fend off the Lions (3-10, 0-5).
Senior Christian Elmasri added 14 points and three assists, fellow senior Ajay Mathews pitched in 13 points and five assists, and junior Nolan Gong contributed 10 points and eight assists for Marlboro. Senior Drew Lubeck also threw in eight points in the win.
Senior Eddie Lopez scored all of his game-high 21 points in the first three quarters to lead Middletown South. Senior Jack Dambaugh poured in 17 points, junior Nate Tyburczy netted 13 and freshman Nick DiGiovanni went for eight to pace the Lions.
Class B Central
Neptune 53, Raritan 43
Senior Jordan Pierre bid for a triple-double, finishing for 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as one of four Neptune scorers that finished with double-figures in leading the Scarlet Fliers (4-8, 2-3) to a win over the Rockets (4-8, 1-4).
Junior Dominic O’Neill poured in 11 points, while senior C.J. Evans and junior Jeremiah McCleave each added 10 points for Neptune. Sophomore Mario Diamantis scored a game-high 18 points to pace Raritan.
Class B South
Point Beach 62, Toms River North 52
Junior George Breckenridge erupted for a career-high 31 points and scored the final eight points of the game to carry the Garnet Gulls (13-2, 5-0) over the Mariners (4-10, 1-4) for their ninth straight win.
Breckenridge hit five three-pointers and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, while senior Jacob Edgecomb added eight points for Point Beach. Senior Jayden Thomas led Toms River North with 19 points. Junior Jackson Sias added 11 points, sophomore Jake Greenberg pitched in nine and junior Wesley Tanner netted eight in the loss.
Toms River East 59, Brick Memorial 44
After being shutout in the scoring column in the first half, sophomore Brady Gillen went off for 21 points in the second half while the Raiders (6-6, 2-3) held the Mustangs (8-7, 2-3) to 19 as a team after the break to secure a divisional win and snap a four-game losing streak.
Sophomore Tommy Intintola delivered 17 points and 13 rebounds for Toms River East, while senior Sean Collins led Brick Memorial with 16 points.
Point Boro 52, Toms River South 48
Senior Jovin Steinmetz and junior Hunter Hynes combined for 44 of their team’s 52 points and the Panthers (8-5, 4-1) fought back from a three-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to topple the Indians (8-7, 1-4) in Toms River.
Steinmetz led all scorers with 23 points and Hynes poured in 21 with five three-pointers for Point Boro, which won the fourth quarter, 15-8. Senior Shane Gambarony pumped in 22 points and senior Jake Myers kicked in 12 to lead Toms River South.
Class C North
Keansburg 57, Asbury Park 46
Senior Jaivon Thomas-Conklin scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Titans (6-5, 1-3) topped the Blue Bishops (0-10, 0-4) for their first divisional win of the season.
Sophomore Taurian Black added 12 points, three assists and five steals, senior I’Shon Young netted 10 points and senior A’Son Young chipped in six points, seven rebounds and four assists for Keansburg.
Ny’John Kirkpatrick led three Asbury Park players in double-figure scoring with 15 points, with Ryan Monroe adding 12 and Tyree Nelson 11 in the loss.
Henry Hudson 67, Keyport 40
Senior Billy Quinn scored a game-high 25 points and the Admirals (9-4, 3-1) sailed to a win over the Red Raiders (7-6, 2-2). JoJo Newell added 14 points, fellow junior Masio Tucker contributed 12 and classmate Jack Carlstrom threw in eight for Henry Hudson.
Senior Kai Arrington scored 17 points and junior Demetrius Attia added 11 to lead Keyport.
Class C South
Pinelands 53, New Egypt 27
Juniors Chris Husni and Tyler Garcia each scored 14 points and the Wildcats (9-2, 4-0) routed the Warriors (7-7, 4-2) for their fifth straight win and ninth out of their last 10, which keeps Pinelands in sole possession of first place in the Class C South division.
Husni also dished out five assists while Garcia hauled in 10 rebounds. Junior Cayden Lucas contributed eight points and eight rebounds and junior Donny Johnston handed out six assists to go with his four points for Pinelands.
Senior Nolan Arnold scored a game-high 15 points to lead New Egypt.
Manchester 59, Lakewood 29
Junior Orion Andrews went off for 25 points and sophomore Sam Spaziano posted a double-double to lead the Hawks (4-10, 3-2) to a win over the Piners (1-10, 0-5). Spaziano finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds and senior James Ruocchio also pitched in 12 points.
Senior Cris Rosario led Lakewood with nine points.
Brick 73, Lacey 44
Junior Jamel Pitts did it on both sides of the court with 24 points and six steals while classmate Sean Nausedas posted his third straight double-double as the Green Dragons (4-10, 3-1) rolled to a win over the Lions (2-13, 1-5).
Nausedas ended with 16 points and 11 rebounds, senior Jason Hunter pitched in nine points and sophomore Jaylen Johnson contributed seven points and seven steals for Brick. Senior Teagan Gilliespie scored 18 points and freshman Tristan DeRosa added nine points and six steals to lead Lacey.
Non-Division
Monmouth 54, Shore 51
Junior Javon Bowles led a balanced offense with 13 points and the Falcons (9-3) pulled out a road win over the Blue Devils (9-4) in a clash between two Shore Conference division leaders while also snapping Shore’s six-game winning streak.
Senior Charles Tinsley added 10 points and classmate Ahmir Wiggins added nine for Monmouth, which continued to play without junior forward and leading scorer Logan Conrade due to an ankle injury.
Senior Andrew Barham scored a game-high 18 points and junior Maddox Paulin added 11 to lead Shore.
Freehold Boro 54, Long Branch 53
Senior Mike Cush pumped in 25 points and the Colonials (6-7) slipped past the Green Wave (4-9) to halt a five-game losing streak.
