Brick 69, Manchester 45

Junior Jamel Pitts scored 22 points and classmate Ryan Tufaro came up two points shy of a triple-double to lead the Green Dragons (6-10, 5-1) over the Hawks (4-11, 3-3) for their fifth win in the last six games following a 1-9 start.

Tufaro finished with eight points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, while sophomore Jaylen Johnson chipped in 14 points, six assists and six steals for Brick. Sophomore Justin Roberts scored 16 points and junior Orion Andrews netted 14 to lead Manchester.

At Rumson-Fair Haven

No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 64, St. John Vianney 49

Junior Gavin Biasi pumped in 27 points and senior James Hankowski rained in 22 as the two RBC guard combined for 49 points and 11 three-pointers to carry the Caseys (12-4) to a win over the Lancers (4-13).

Biasi nailed five three-pointers while Hankowski drained six for RBC, which hit 13 as a team. Junior Danny O’Neill scored 21 points and classmate Justin Togans chipped in 13 to lead St. John Vianney.

Ranney 69, Red Bank 59

Senior Shaan Nayar led four Ranney scorers in double-figures with 18 points and the Panthers (7-7) held off the Bucs (7-10). Junior Andrew Mardahaev added 16 points for Ranney, including a corner three-pointer that pushed Ranney’s lead to 62-54 with just over two minutes to go after Red Bank had pulled within five.

Junior Ben Schaeffer and sophomore A.J. Mizhir each added 10 points for Ranney. Junior Justin Valentino poured in a game-high 23 points to lead Red Bank while also contributing four assists and three steals. Junior Will Galligan and sophomore Randy Peterson each added 10 points in the loss, with Peterson also pulling in six rebounds.

No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 67, Union Catholic 58

Senior Luke Lydon scored 11 of his team-high 19 points in the third quarter and the Bulldogs (13-4) clamped down on defense in the fourth, holding the Vikings (6-8) to six points over the final eight minutes to seal a come-from-behind win.

Freshman Clint Martin scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half to fuel the comeback for Rumson, which trailed, 36-30, at halftime and by as many as 11 in the first half before taking the lead, 53-52, in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Senior Luke Cruz scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half and also posted 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots for Rumson. Junior Casey Moore contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while senior teammate Blake Ahmann chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Ocean 57, Colts Neck 51

Senior Aidan Saint Louis scored 19 points and junior Justice Hodges scored seven of his 15 points during a decisive fourth quarter as the Spartans (10-7) upended the Cougars (9-5).

Saint Louis scored 15 of his points prior to the fourth, at which point Hodges led the way as Ocean outscored Colts Neck, 20-14, over the final eight minutes thanks to 18 attempts from the free-throw line in the last quarter, of which the Spartans made 10. Freshman Omar Ayyash also scored 12 points, with nine coming in the second half.

Senior Dillon Younger carried the Colts Neck scoring effort with 24 points.

Middletown North 54, Raritan 36

Junior Nate Tyburczy scored a game-high 19 points to go with three steals and seniors Jack Dambaugh and Eddie Lopez each logged a double-double to lead the Lions (5-10) over the Rockets (5-9).

Dambaugh netted 13 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and also dished out four assists, while Lopez went for 12 points and 14 boards. Senior Anthony Fazioli led Raritan with nine points.

No. 10 Central 48, Morris Knolls 37

Junior Derek Roth poured in 24 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and Central secured a win over Morris Knolls in a battle of the Golden Eagles. Senior center and recent Penn State Football commit Elijah Reeder added seven points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for Central.

Midland Park 62, New Egypt 54

Senior Nolan Arnold poured in a game-high 24 points, but the Panthers (11-3) overcame Arnold’s offense to beat the Warriors (8-8). Junior Paul Kennedy added 13 points and senior Ryan Reynolds threw in nine for New Egypt.

Holmdel 59, Middletown South 37

Keansburg 48, Long Branch 41

Senior A’Son Young delivered a triple-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals and the Titans (8-5) took down the Green Wave (4-11) on the strength of a big fourth quarter.

Senior I’Shon Young added 17 points and seven rebounds for Keansburg, which outscored Long Branch, 16-6, in the final quarter after trailing by three heading into the fourth. Senior Nathan Posoa led Long Branch with 12 points.

No. 8 Marlboro 70, Manalapan 67

Junior Dylan McEwan scored 21 points to go with seven rebounds and the Mustangs (12-3) held off a fourth-quarter surge by the Braves (5-9) to escape with a win over their rivals.

Senior Ajay Mathews added 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, junior Nolan Gong contributed 14 points and eight assists, and senior Christian Elmasri went for 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for Marlboro.

Junior Joe Farino scored nine of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to lead a 19-9 fourth-quarter run by Manalapan that pulled the Braves to within one score of Marlboro. Farino got off a contested corner three-point attempt as time expired, but his double-clutch shot hit the front rim.

Junior Grayson Ferraro added 12 points and freshman Josh Sosinov pitched in nine for Manalapan.

No. 2 Wall 60, Neptune 29

Senior Brian McKenna scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half to go with six rebounds and the Crimson Knights (13-0) rode a dominant second quarter to a one-sided win over the Scarlet Fliers (5-9) — their 13th straight win to open the season.

Senior Dan Hennessy chipped in 15 points for Wall, which outscored Neptune, 16-0, in the second quarter to take a 27-7 lead at halftime. Senior Jordan Pierre led Neptune with 18 points.

Pinelands 63, Henry Hudson 56

Junior Cayden Lucas scored 22 points and the Wildcats (10-3) put a damper on a memorable day for Henry Hudson junior JoJo Newell by knocking off the Admirals (10-5) in Highlands.

Newell scored 30 points for his sixth 30-point game of the season and also reached the 1,000-point plateau for his career. Newell already has 381 points in 15 games this season, good for a Shore-Conference-best 25.4 points per game.

Lucas also pulled down seven rebounds and junior Tyler Garcia added 15 points and seven rebounds for Pinelands. Classmate Chris Husni netted 10 points, seven assists and five steals and fellow junior Donny Johnston posted 12 points and five assists for in the win. Junior Jack Carlstrom chipped in 12 points for Henry Hudson.

Point Boro 65, Matawan 54

Senior Jovin Steinmetz and juniors Hunter Hynes and Landon Hoyle each reached double-figure scoring with seven rebounds apiece and the Panthers (9-6) rolled to a win over the Huskies (6-10).

Hoyle led the way with 17 points, Steinmetz pitched in 13 and three assists, and Hynes netted 12. Senior Nick Carmino also dished out 11 assists to go with five points for Point Boro.

 

Non-Conference

Notre Dame 58, Donovan Catholic 56

Freshman Gerard Gallo scored a game-high 22 points, but it was not enough to carry the Griffins (5-8) in a road loss to the Irish (4-14). Junior Gabe Feliciano added 12 points and senior Pat Gallo chipped in 10 for Donovan Catholic.

No. 7 Point Beach 85, New Providence 63

Junior Tyler Preston scored 25 points and six different Point Beach players scored at least eight in a convincing road win for the Garnet Gulls (14-3) over the Pioneers (2-12).

Senior Jacob Edgecomb poured in 17 points and junior George Breckenridge netted 11 for Point Beach. Senior Elijah Ives and junior Ryan Mahoney each poured in nine points and junior Danny Cavanaugh chipped in eight in the victory.

Atlantic City 56, Southern 54

Junior Noah Perna scored a game-high 19 points, but it was not enough in a Rams (8-7) loss to the Vikings (10-6). Perna shot 15-for-20 from the free-throw line to carry his scoring line, while junior Josh Brofman added 14 points and senior Jake Sliwinski chipped in 12 for Southern.

Toms River South 46, Princeton 42

Senior Shane Gambarony went off for 25 points and seven steals and the Indians (9-8) scored 20 of their 46 points in the fourth quarter to pull past the Little Tigers (6-10).

Senior Jake Myers added 11 points and 10 rebounds and classmate Brady Gibson hauled in 13 rebounds to go with his four points for Toms River South, which won the final quarter, 20-15, to seize the victory.

At Caldwell University

Gill St. Bernard’s 64, No. 1 CBA 52

Dorsett Mulcahy scored a game-high 24 points and the Knights (15-2) grabbed control of the game with a 12-2 run to end the first half and send them on their way to a win over the Colts (14-3).

Sophomore Izayah Cooper led a balanced CBA offense with 10 points. Senior Charlie Marcoullier threw in nine points and seniors Connor Andree and Charlie Messano each chipped in eight for CBA, which led, 24-17, before Gill St. Bernard’s stormed into the lead with their half-ending run.
