Senior Qua’Mir Everett scored a game-high 21 points while pulling down six rebounds as the Colonials took down the Mustangs to reach the Buc Classic semifinals and secure their fourth straight win.

Senior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk scored eight of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to help Freehold Boro close out Marlboro and also grabbed seven rebounds. Senior Brian Tassey and junior Mike Cush each added eight points and five assists for the Colonials.

Sophomore Dylan McEwan led a balanced Marlboro scoring effort with 12 points, while both senior Christian Elmasri (11) and sophomore Nolan Gong (10) reached double-figure scoring.

(3) Ranney 75, (6) Old Bridge 61

Junior Shaan Nayar scored 19 of his career-high 29 points in the second half to help the Panthers pull away from the Knights and into the Buc Classic semifinals Saturday vs. Freehold Boro.

The two teams were tied, 47-47, in the opening minute of the fourth quarter before Ranney took over. Nayar scored 10 of Ranney’s final 28 points during a 28-14 that closed the game. Nayar also added five rebounds and three assists and sophomore Brody Mauro chipped in 16 points and six rebounds for Ranney. Senior MeSean Williams netted 12 points while sophomore Ben Schaeffer contributed five points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench in the win.

(1) Red Bank 70, (8) Long Branch 37

Senior Ryan Fisher scored 19 points and hit three of Red Bank’s 12 three-pointers by nine different players as the Bucs coasted to a first-round win over the Green Wave.

Senior Gavin Gilmartin added eight points and a pair of three-pointer for Red Bank, which had 13 players score at least two points on at least one field goal. Joshua Guzman led Long Branch with 18 points.

At Southern

Semifinals

(2) Southern 67, (6) Trenton 50

Sophomore Noah Perna set a career-high with 30 points and the Rams rolled through the Tornadoes and into the Score at the Shore championship game on Saturday.

Junior Jake Sliwinski added 19 points for Southern, which seized control with a 21-12 second quarter after exiting the first tied, 11-11. Perna scored nine points during the second-quarter run and Perna (nine) and Sliwinski (eight) combined for 17 of Southern’s 20 points in the third quarter.

(1) Lenape 63, (4) Holmdel 42

Junior Nolan Barnes scored a game-high 18 points and the Indians cruised past the Hornets and into the Score at the Shore championship game Saturday against host Southern. Lenape will play in its fifth straight Score at the Shore championship game and will look to win its fourth title during that same stretch.

Senior Ire Adesina led Holmdel with 10 points and classmate Daxx Corniero added eight in the loss.

Neptune Holiday Jubilee

Semifinals

Union City 45, Monmouth 29

Junior Jaylin Reeves scored a game-high 13 points, but the Falcons could not muster the scoring to knock off the Soaring Eagles in the first round of the Neptune Jubilee. Fernando Badilla led Union City with 11 points and Kaleb Johnson was a force on the defensive end with five steals and four blocked shots to go with seven points.

Neptune 48, Allentown 45

Senior Jayden Myrthil scored 16 points and classmate Donnie Stevenson pitched in 12 to lead the Scarlet Fliers over the Redbirds and into the Jubilee championship game Saturday against Union City.

At Middletown South

Semifinals

Manalapan 55, Howell 48

Senior Aiden Sosinov hit the 30-point mark for the third straight game to open the season, which powered the Braves to a win over the Rebels to extend their season-opening winning streak to three. Sosinov finished with an even 30 points while also inhaling 18 rebounds, dishing out four assists and blocking three shots.

Through three games, Sosinov has scored 104 points for an average of 34.67 per game. He scored 35 in an opening-night win over East Brunswick and poured in a career-high 39 in a win over Steinert this past Saturday.

Sophomore Spencer Schoenfeld added 12 points on four three-pointers, including three of Manalapan’s seven first-half threes. Junior Peter Barkauskas led Howell with 18 points.

Middletown South 70, Raritan 58

Senior Brady Hahn scored a game-high 22 points and junior Beckett Oliver posted a double-double to lead the Eagles past the Rockets and into the championship game of the first ever Pat Houston Memorial Tournament.

Oliver finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while juniors Matt Trimble and Nick Cannizzaro each pitched in 11 points for Middletown South, which will host Manalapan in the championship game on Sunday.

Seniors Xavier Nunez, Sean Burnett and Alan Warren each scored 12 points to lead Raritan.

 

Cole Young Memorial Christmas Classic

At Point Boro

Nottingham 65, Jackson Liberty 57

Jayden Williams scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Northstars in a win over the Lions. Sophomore Aidan Kelly led Jackson Liberty with 15 points.

Point Boro 74, Florence 37

Sophomore Hunter Hynes scored 27 of his career-high 30 points in the first half and the Panthers rolled to a win over the Flashes after scoring the first 21 points of the game.

Hynes has bested his career-high in each game this season, starting with 16 points on opening night and following that up with outings of 24 and 25 points — all in Point Boro wins. On Friday, he beat his career high before halftime, draining 7-of-11 three-pointers in the first half. Hynes then hit his first and only three-point attempt of the second half to finish 8-for-12.

Senior Drew Cardia and junior Jovin Steinmetz each added 10 points, with Cardia also pitching in five assists and five steals in the win. Senior Hudson Griffin posted 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals to go with his three points and senior Nick Kowalewski contributed nine points, five rebounds and three steals for Point Boro.

Semifinals

South River 77, Keansburg 54

Alex Grospe scored a game-high 36 points and the Rams rolled past the Titans and into a championship-game rematch with Henry Hudson on Saturday after the Admirals beat South River in last year’s title game.

Junior A’Son Young led Keansburg with 21 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Henry Hudson 61, South Amboy 34

Sophomore JoJo Newell scored 19 points and junior Billy Quinn added 17 to lead the Admirals over the Governors and send Henry Hudson to the championship game Saturday against South River.

Woodstown 51, Pinelands 46

Senior Ty Kline scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, but his 20-point double-double was not enough to lift the Wildcats over the Wolverines. Senior Tyler Ferguson added 13 points for Pinelands, while Blake Bialecki led Woodstown with a game-high 23 points.

New Egypt 48, Steinert 46

Junior Nolan Arnold pumped in a game-high 28 points and the Warriors clipped the Spartans to reach the championship game of the Warrior Classic Saturday vs. Woodstown.

(3) Red Bank Catholic 70, (7) Point Beach 62

Senior Sean Saxton scored 16 points and the Caseys used another balanced scoring effort to fight off the Garnet Gulls and into the fifth-place game of the Ruhnke Bracket.

Sophomore Gavin Biasi poured in 14 points and senior Ryan Prior scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half, during which RBC outscored Point Beach, 47-29. Sophomore Ryder Ciorciari and junior James Hankowski each added nine points, with Hankowski’s points coming on three three-pointers.

Sophomore George Breckenridge scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half to lead Point Beach. Junior Scot Crowley added 13 points and sophomore Tyler Preston pitched in 10 in the loss.

(5) Toms River North 55, (8) St. John Vianney 51 (OT)

Senior Sherrod Nelson scored 24 points and classmate Mekai Morse netted five of his 10 points in overtime as the Mariners outlasted the Lancers to earn a spot in the fifth-place game Sunday against Red Bank Catholic.

Freshman Jake Greenberg added nine points and 11 rebounds for Toms River North. Sophomore Danny O’Neill led St. John Vianney with 13 points, while sophomore Dan Lavan added 12 and classmate Justin Togans pitched in 10 in the loss.

(15) Toms River East 59, (14) Toms River South 52

Freshman Brady Gillen went off for 31 points, six rebounds and four steals to lead the Raiders over the Indians for their first win of the season.

Junior Shamus O’Grady added 11 points and eight rebounds and senior Mason Clinton poured in 10 points for Toms River East. Junior Shane Gambarony led Toms River South with 17 points.

(13) Brick Memorial 59, (16) Brick 39

Junior Jason Lajara flirted with a triple-double in finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, leading the Mustangs to a win over the rival Green Dragons.

Senior Joe Witter and junior Sean Collins each scored 13 points for Brick Memorial, with Witter pulling down six rebounds and Collins grabbing six. Senior Jayden Johnson scored a gam-high 20 points and sophomore Jamel Pitts added 11 to pace Brick.

CBA 59, West Morris Central 40

Junior Kevin Pikiell scored a team-high 16 points and the Colts marched to the Flynn semifinals with a win over West Morris. Junior Charlie Marcoulier added 13 points behind five three-pointers and sophomore David Buley posted 10 points for CBA, which will play Madison in Saturday’s semifinal round at Delbarton.

Rumson-Fair Haven 54, Woodbridge 48

Junior Luke Cruz drained 20 points and the Bulldogs fought their way past the Barrons and into the Butch Kowal final Sunday at 4 p.m. Senior David Carr added 11 points and senior Riley Gill pitched in seven for Rumson-Fair Haven.

Junior Jimmy Papalardo pumped in 22 points behind six three-pointers, but the Jaguars came up short against Morristown-Beard. Freshman Mi’Aire Anderson chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds for Jackson Memorial, which remained without starters Randy Holmes Jr. (illness) and senior Brady Adams (ankle).

Junior Aidan Saint Louis scored a game-high 15 points to lead Ocean, but the Cardinals overcame the Spartans behind a balanced scoring effort, led by 13 points from Noah Johansen.

Keyport 61, Roselle Park 55

Junior Kai Arrington scored 23 points to lead four Keyport players in double-figure scoring, which was enough to power the Red Raiders to a consolation win over the Panthers. Arrington also posted eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Senior Andrei Matthews added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, senior Nico Dispenza chipped in 11 points and eight boards, and junior Jermaine Bardon contributed 10 points and three blocked shots for Keyport.

Matawan 54, Timothy Christian 41

Senior Jayden Elijah poured in 21 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked three shots to carry the Huskies over the Tigers for their first win of the season.

Senior Amir Martinez added 15 points, sophomore Christian Baskerville netted nine and junior Colin Reitmann pitched in six points, four assists and seven steals for Matawan.

Senior Mason Krey scored 21 points but his effort on the offensive end was not enough to push the Bengals past the Panthers.
