Saturday, Feb. 8

Class A North

No. 8 Colts Neck 57, Manalapan 48

Senior Bryce Belcher led four Colts Neck players in double-figure scoring with 17 points and the Cougars (11-7, 6-4) coasted to a win over the Braves (7-13, 1-9) to clinch the Class A North public division championship.

Senior Jack Freid poured in 11 points and junior Dillon Younger and senior Dan Buoncore each chipped in 10 for Colts Neck, which played without injured senior starter and leading scorer Lukas Sloan.

 

Class B Central

Neptune 64, Lakewood 30

Senior Jayden Myrthil and junior Jordan Pierce each scored 11 points and the Scarlet Fliers (12-8, 5-5) rode their defense and balanced scoring effort to a road win over the Piners (2-17, 0-10).

Senior Max Kiffner added 10 points and freshman Dion Burton chipped in eight for Neptune. Junior Ronny Cuevas led Lakewood with 12 points.

 

Class B South

Toms River East 62, Brick 50

Freshman Tommy Intintola poured in 19 points and classmate Brady Gillen kicked in 15 to lead the Raiders (8-12, 4-4) to a win over the Green Dragons (7-15, 1-7).

Sophomore Chase Bailie, junior Austin Weber and junior Shamus O’Grady each added nine points for Toms River East, which built an 18-point halftime lead and held off a second-half surge by Brick.

Sophomores Sean Nausedas and Ryan Tufaro each scored 17 points to lead Brick, with Nausedas also grabbing nine rebounds.

 

Non-Division

Freehold Twp. 59, Lacey 23

Sophomore Jake Schultzel led a balanced attack with 14 points and also blocked three shots to lead the Patriots (9-10) over the Lions (7-13).

Senior Jordan Dulnuan added 10 points and senior Nick Cardone pitched in six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for Freehold Township.

No. 7 Holmdel 71, Long Branch 31

Junior Jack Vallillo led a well-rounded Holmdel scoring effort with 13 points and the Hornets (12-7) handled the Green Wave (6-16). Sophomore Elliot Bronowich and junior Dylan Zammit each added 10 points and senior Lukas Vellios pitched in nine for Holmdel.

Henry Hudson 51, Pinelands 49

Senior Jack Fitzpatrick scored a game-high 22 points and the Admirals (16-6) held on to beat the Wildcats (10-9), putting themselves in position to grab the final available spot in the 20-team Shore Conference Tournament.

Sophomore JoJo Newell added 12 points and junior Michael Fitzpatrick pitched in eight for Henry Hudson, which got a stop with one second left to secure the win.

Senior Ty Kline led Pinelands with 20 points and his potential game-tying shot at the buzzer rimmed in and out as time expired.

Ocean 56, Raritan 42

Junior Aidan Saint Louis pumped in 27 points and the Spartans (8-14) rolled to a win over the Rockets (8-14).

Freshman Brody Bell drained four three-pointers on the way to 14 points to back up Saint Louis’s effort. Junior Ian Mullan scored 11 points, senior Xavier Nunez added 10 and senior Alan Warren netted nine to lead Raritan.

 

Non-Conference

Allentown 75, New Egypt 65

Junior Nolan Arnold poured in a game-high 29 points to eclipse the 1,000-point milestone for his career, although it was not enough to lead the Warriors (8-11) over the Redbirds (6-15) on the road.

Arnold joins his older sister, Peyton Arnold, in New Egypt’s 1,000-point club and he will have another year-plus to add to his lofty total.

Perth Amboy 59, St. John Vianney 52

Sophomore Danny O’Neill poured in 19 points but it was not enough, as the Lancers (6-16) fell to the Panthers (11-10) in Perth Amboy.

Old Bridge 55, Middletown South 28

Senior Brady Hahn scored 13 points, but the Eagles (8-13) could not get their offense in gear in a road loss to the Knights (12-9). Krish Patel led Old Bridge with a game-high 17 points.

Bordentown 61, Toms River South 53

Junior Jacob Myers led three Toms River South players in double-figure scoring with 22 points but the Indians (3-19) fell on the road to the Scotties (6-11). Junior Shane Gambarony added 15 points and senior Aiden Lynch threw in 12 in the loss.

 

Metro Classic

At Franklin High School

No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 76, St. Joseph Metuchen 44

Junior Luke Cruz went off for a career-high 33 points while also posting 13 rebounds and four blocked shots to spark the Bulldogs (15-5) to a rout of the Falcons (6-12).

Junior Drew Cavise added 21 points for Rumson behind 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range.
