Class A North

No. 10 Ranney 71, Manalapan 66

Senior MeSean Williams scored 18 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and four steals in leading a well-rounded offensive effort that propelled the Panthers (6-2, 2-1) to a road win over the Braves (4-4, 0-2).

Senior Justin Buck added 16 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Alex Heysen poured in 12 points and junior Shaan Nayar pitched in 11 for Ranney.

Junior Dean Aviles led all-scorers with a career-high 28 points and senior teammate Aiden Sosinov poured in 22 points to lead Manalapan.

No. 4 CBA 60, No. 8 Colts Neck 41

Senior Kevin Pikiell scored a game-high 19 points and the Colts (7-3, 3-0) used two big runs — one to undo a cold start and the other to close out the game — to turn away the Cougars (4-4, 1-1).

CBA went on a 19-2 run to turn a 16-4 deficit into a 23-18 lead. The Colts held a 25-24 lead at halftime and Colts Neck sliced the CBA lead to 43-41 early in the fourth quarter. Over the final 6:23 of the game, CBA outscored Colts Neck, 17-0.

Senior Charlie Messano added 12 points and junior Connor Andree pitched in eight for CBA. Senior Lukas Sloan scored 18 points and junior Dillon Younger added eight to lead Colts Neck’s hot start.

Marlboro 62, Freehold Twp. 57

Sophomore Nolan Gong scored a game-high 23 points, with a hot start and a strong close that helped the Mustangs (4-7, 1-2) scored a road win over the Patriots (4-5, 1-2).

Senior Cole Newman scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half and sophomore Dylan McEwan threw in 12 for Marlboro, which stormed out to a 24-10 lead by the end of the first quarter. Gong scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished with eight in the fourth.

Sophomore John O’Neill scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half to lead Freehold Township, while senior Nick Cardone pitched in 10 in the loss.

 

Class A Coastal

No. 6 Red Bank 72, Middletown South 57

Senior Ryan Fisher scored 21 points and the Bucs (10-1, 3-0) ripped off a 21-0 run during the third quarter that proved the difference in a road win over the Eagles (6-5, 0-3).

Senior Zayier Dean added 14 points for Red Bank, which led, 32-24, at halftime before scoring 21 unanswered points during the third quarter to go up, 56-33, heading to the fourth. Middletown South then rallied to within eight during the fourth quarter, but could not finish off the comeback.

Senior Brady Hahn scored a game-high 23 points and junior Matt Trimble added 11 to lead the Eagles.

Holmdel 72, St. John Vianney 44

Junior Jack Vallillo led a balanced scoring effort with 18 points while hitting four of Holmdel’s nine three-pointers as the Hornets (5-4, 2-1) coasted to a win over the Lancers (5-8, 0-3).

Senior Ire Adesina netted 15 points, senior C.J. Karis added 12 on three three-pointers, and freshman Anthony Serini chipped in 11 points for Holmdel. St. John Vianney sophomore Nicky Mejia scored double-figures in his fourth straight game to open his season, finishing with 15 points. Senior Jesse Plunkett also chipped in 11 points in the loss.

Red Bank Catholic 61, No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven 55

Senior Ryan Prior scored 19 points and classmate Sean Saxton scored all 16 of his points during a second-half comeback that carried the Caseys (7-4, 2-1) to a crucial division win over the Bulldogs (7-2, 2-1).

Red Bank Catholic trailed by as many as 14 in the first half and was down, 34-25, at halftime before mounting a 13-0 run to open the third quarter and take a 38-34 lead.

Rumson-Fair Haven settled back in and led 50-48, when junior Jake Frankel nailed a three-pointer from the wing for a 51-50 RBC lead with 2:29 to go. Prior then scored on a runner off the glass and after a pair of free throws by Rumson senior David Carr, Prior buried a three-pointer for a 56-52 lead with just under 1:30 to go.

Junior Luke Lydon hit a three-pointer to trim the deficit back to one at 56-55, but Rumson did not attempt another shot from the field the rest of the way. RBC forced a pair of turnovers and went 5-for-8 from the line to close out the win.

Frankel added nine points and sophomore Gavin Biasi chipped in eight for Red Bank Catholic. Junior Luke Cruz led Rumson with 18 points and Carr added 11 in the loss.

 

Class A South

No. 9 Southern 60, Toms River North 51

Sophomore Noah Perna scored 22 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to carry the Rams (7-3, 2-1) past the Mariners (4-6, 1-2).

Senior Rich Flores added nine points and junior Jake Sliwinski dished out six assists to go with his six points for Southern. Senior Sherrod Nelson and sophomore Jackson Sias each scored 12 points to pace Toms River North, with freshman Jake Greenberg adding 11 in the loss.

 

Class B North

Shore 75, Asbury Park 42

Junior Andrew Barham scored 19 points and senior Bryce Crowe poured in 18 to spark the Blue Devils (8-2, 2-1) to a win over the Blue Bishops (0-9, 0-2). Sophomore Maddox Paulin also pitched in 11 for Shore.

No. 7 Freehold Boro 61, Long Branch 36

Senior Brian Tassey put up 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two blocks in an all-around effort that led the Colonials (7-5, 2-0) to a win over the Green Wave (1-9, 1-2).

Junior Damier Lester added 11 points and senior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk contributed nine points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots for Freehold Boro. Quentin Fisher scored nine points to lead Long Branch.

Monmouth 48, Ocean 29

Sophomore Javon Bowles led three Monmouth players in double-figures with 15 points and the Falcons (1-9, 1-2) locked down the Spartans (2-9, 2-1) to secure their first win of the season.

Juniors Jaylin Reeves and Michael Griffin each added 12 points for Monmouth and the trio combined for nine of Monmouth’s 10 three-pointers in the game, led by four from Griffin.

Junior Aidan Saint Louis led Ocean with seven points.

 

Class B Coastal

Matawan 61, Middletown North 46

Junior Ben Morales scored 20 points and the Huskies (4-7, 1-2) raced past the Lions (7-5, 2-1) for a crucial road win in Class B Coastal.

Senior Jayden Elijah added 16 points and nine rebounds and senior Amir Martinez pitched in 10 points for Matawan, which hit 11-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.

Henry Hudson 60, Raritan 55 (OT)

Senior Jack Fitzpatrick scored a game-high 19 points and the Admirals (8-3, 2-1) battled past the Rockets (5-5, 2-1) to pull out an overtime win.

Junior Billy Quinn netted 15 points, while senior Kevin Pharo chipped in nine and junior Michael Fitzpatrick added eight for Henry Hudson. Junior Ian Mullan pumped in 19 points, senior Xavier Nunez added 13 and senior Alan Warren pitched in nine to lead Raritan.

The Rockets sent the game into overtime thanks to a steal by senior Sean Burnett and a pass up ahead to sophomore Eric Berg for the game-tying lay-up in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter.

Keyport 61, Keansburg 58

Senior Andrei Matthews scored 17 points to lead four players in double-figure scoring and sparked the Red Raiders (8-2, 2-1) to a win over the Titans (4-5, 0-3) in a back-and-forth rivalry bout.

Junior Kai Arrington poured in 16 points, senior Nico Dispenza added 14 points and Jermaine Bardon contributed 10 points for Keyport. Junior A’Son Young scored a game-high 18 points to lead Keansburg, with both Ja’Zier Wynn and Gary Friberg scoring 11 apiece in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Memorial 59, Lacey 58

Freshman Mi’Aire Anderson dunked in the game-winning basket with six seconds left for his only score of the game and the Jaguars (3-8) rallied to beat the Lions (2-7).

Junior George Boley scored a game-high 22 points and served as a decoy on the winning possession, with Lacey double-teaming Boley while junior Randy Holmes found Anderson wide open for the winning dunk. Junior Jimmy Pappalardo also netted 20 points and senior John Peten added eight points and 13 rebounds for Jackson Memorial.

Senior D.J. Duffy matched Boley with 22 points to lead Lacey and senior Jon Stabile added 18 for Lacey, which jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter and led, 30-21, at halftime.

The game was delayed with 3:51 left in the fourth quarter and Jackson Memorial lead, 54-53, when a fire alarm in Jackson Memorial High School went off and the gym was cleared.

No. 3 Central 54, Brick Memorial 33

Senior Jaycen Santucci scored 15 points and the Golden Eagles (10-1) stormed out to an 18-2 start en rout to a road win over the Mustangs (7-5).

Senior Jayson King poured in 13 points and senior Royalty Riley pitched in 12 points for Central. Junior Sean Collins scored 13 points to lead Brick Memorial.

 

Non-Conference

Pinelands 52, Pilgrim Academy 35

Senior Ty Kline posted a double-double and classmate Tyler McNally-Ferguson made a bid for a triple-double as the Wildcats (8-2) topped Pilgrim Academy for their sixth straight win.

Kline finished with a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, while McNelly-Ferguson notched nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore Donnie Johnston added nine points and senior Matt Davis chipped in eight points and four assists for Pinelands.
