No. 5 CBA 68, Freehold Twp. 41
Senior Justin Fuerbacher scored a game-high 24 points and for the second straight game, the Colts (10-3, 5-0) blew open what was a close game at halftime to secure a double-digit win — this time over the Patriots (4-7, 1-4).
CBA led, 32-30, at halftime and closed the third quarter with a flurry to go up, 48-39, capped by a corner three-pointer by senior Charlie Messano to extend the lead to nine time ran out in the third.
Junior Connor Andree added 10 points and senior Kevin Pikiell chipped in nine for CBA. Senior Sean Harris led a balanced Freehold Township effort with 12 points, with senior Nick Cardone adding 11 and sophomore Jake Schultzel contributing 10 in the loss.
No. 8 Colts Neck 60, Ranney 53
Senior Lukas Sloan stormed out of the gate with 14 points in the first quarter on the way to a game-high 19 points and classmate Bryce Belcher scored 14 of his 18 in the second half to help the Cougars (6-4, 3-1) close out a road win over the Panthers (7-4, 3-2).
Senior Jack Fried added 10 points for Colts Neck, which stormed out to a 23-13 lead through one quarter and held onto the lead throughout as Ranney attempted to rally.
Junior Shaan Nayar scored 15 points and sophomore Alex Heyser added eight to lead Ranney.
Marlboro 69, Manalapan 58
Senior Cole Newman led a well-rounded Marlboro scoring attack with 17 points and the Mustangs (6-8, 2-3) raced past the Braves (5-6, 0-4).
Junior Drew Lubeck dropped 16 points and junior Ajay Mathews poured in 14 for Marlboro, which took control of the game with a 24-6 second quarter after falling behind, 22-15, through one quarter. Sophomore Nolan Gong added nine points and classmate Dylan McEwan pitched in eight in the win.
Junior Dean Aviles scored 21 points and senior Aiden Sosinov pumped in 19 to lead Manalapan. Junior George Hardy scored 11 of his 13 points during Manalapan’s 22-point first quarter, including three three-pointers.
Class A Coastal
No. 9 Red Bank Catholic 66, St. John Vianney 47
Senior Ryan Prior scored 18 points and classmate Sean Saxton scored 14 of his 16 in the first half to spark the Caseys (8-6, 3-2) to a win over the Lancers (5-10, 0-4).
Sophomore Danny O’Neill scored 13 points and classmate Justin Togans netted 10 to lead St. John Vianney.
No. 4 Red Bank 63, No. 7 Holmdel 48
Senior Ryan Fisher scored a game-high 19 points and classmates Ronald Richardson and Zayier Dean each added 12 as the Bucs (13-1, 5-0) pulled away for a win over the Hornets (7-5, 3-2) to cement their spot atop the Class A Coastal standings.
Senior Anthony Moore chipped in eight points for Red Bank, while junior Jack Vallillo and senior C.J. Karis each scored 10 to lead Holmdel. Senior Daxx Corneiro also netted nine in the loss.
No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 77, Middletown South 62
Junior Luke Cruz led four Rumson players in double-figure scoring with 21 points and the Bulldogs (9-3, 3-2) used a fourth-quarter scoring outburst to deny the Eagles (7-6, 1-4) the upset.
Senior Carson Memmott added 15 points, classmate David Carr chipped in 14 and junior Luke Lydon contributed 10 for Rumson, which outscored Middletown South, 28-10, in the fourth quarter to turn a one-point deficit into a lopsided win.
Senior Brady Hahn scored a game-high 25 points to lead Middletown South, while Beckett Oliver added 12 and fellow junior Justin Scarano netted 10 in the loss.
Class A Central
Jackson Memorial 65, Howell 44
Junior Jimmy Pappalardo scored 22 points and classmate Randy Holmes Jr. added 19 points and nine rebounds to power the Jaguars (5-9, 3-2) to a win over the Rebels (6-7, 0-5).
Junior George Boley also posted 12 points and five assists for Jackson Memorial, which limited Howell to 23 points through the first three quarters. Sophomore Jay Parker scored nine points and senior Peter Barkauskas chipped in eight to lead Howell.
Point Boro 55, Brick Memorial 44
Junior Jovin Steinmetz scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds and the Panthers (10-3, 2-3) picked up a Class A Central win while dealing the Mustangs (7-8, 1-4) their sixth straight loss.
Sophomore Hunter Hynes chipped in 14 points, senior Drew Cardia posted 12 points and four assists and senior Nick Kowalewski hauled in 15 rebounds for Point Boro.
Junior Sean Collins pumped in a game-high 18 points to lead Brick Memorial.
Class A South
Manchester 83, Toms River South 61
Senior Aidan Lunn went for 25 points and 16 rebounds and the Hawks (2-11, 1-4) overpowered the Indians (2-10, 0-5). Senior M.J. Goins backed up his classmate with 22 points and senior Ny’Zyr Battle added 11 for Manchester.
Junior Jacob Myers scored 23 points and classmate Shane Gambarony threw in 16 to lead Toms River South.
No. 3 Central 54, No. 10 Southern 30
Senior Jaycen Santucci scored 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals and the Golden Eagles (13-1, 5-0) held the Rams (9-4, 3-2) to nine points over the final 18:48 of the game to turn a close battle into a convincing road win.
A three-pointer by sophomore Noah Perna gave Southern a 21-19 lead with 2:48 left in the first half, but Southern closed with eight unanswered points, capped by a breakaway dunk from Santucci. Central then outscored Southern, 29-9, in the second half to seal the win.
Junior Elijah Reader contributed six points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots for Central, while seniors Jayson King (six points) and Royalty Riley (four) each came up with five steals. Senior Aidan Graham also threw in eight points in the win.
Perna led Southern with 14 points, most of which came courtesy of 11-for-12 shooting from the free-throw line.
Donovan Catholic 56, Toms River North 48
Senior Ryan Jacobs scored 12 of his game-high 15 points in the second half and the Griffins (6-8, 4-1) finished strong to earn a second win over the Mariners (5-9, 2-3) this season in a game between two teams desperate for a win.
Senior James Gibbons added 13 points and junior Kai Pritchard scored six of his 10 points in the third quarter, during which Donovan Catholic established a seven-point cushion with a 15-9 run after the Griffins led, 25-24, at halftime.
Senior Mekai Morse scored 14 points and classmate Sherrod Nelson kicked in 12 to lead Toms River North.
Class B North
Ocean 59, Asbury Park 38
Freshman Brody Bell poured in a career-high 20 points and junior Aidan Saint Louis drained 16 to lead the Spartans (3-10, 3-2) to a road win over the Blue Bishops (0-11, 0-4).
Freehold Boro 74, Shore 56
Senior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk went off for a 30-point double-double and classmate Brian Tassey turned in a triple-double as the Colonials (10-6, 4-0) rolled to a road win over the Blue Devils (10-3, 3-2).
Hamlin-Woolfolk hauled in 13 rebounds to go with his career-high 30 points and Tassey posted 18 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists for his second triple-double in his team’s last three games.
Senior Qua’Mir Everett also netted 17 points, giving the Freehold Boro trio of Hamlin-Woolfolk, Tassey and Everett 65 of the Colonials’ 74 points.
Senior Bryce Crowe scored 18 points to lead Shore and sophomore Maddox Paulin chipped in 11 in the loss.
Class B Coastal
Middletown North 57, Raritan 34
Senior Colin Byrne led four Middletown North players in double-figure scoring with 15 points while also plucking seven rebounds to pace the Lions (9-6, 3-1) to a win over the Rockets (6-8, 3-2).
Sophomore Nate Tyburczy added 11 points and juniors Brayden Marcotte and Eddie Lopez threw in 10 points apiece. Marcotte also contributed seven assists and three steals, while Lopez dished out three assists. Junior James Dillon led Raritan with 15 points.
Henry Hudson 57, Keansburg 42
Junior Billy Quinn scored a game-high 25 points and the Admirals (10-4, 3-1) rolled to a win over the Titans (5-8, 0-5).
Sophomore JoJo Newell threw in 15 points, senior Kevin Pharo contributed 10 and sophomore Michael Fitzpatrick netted seven for Henry Hudson, which played without senior Jack Fitzpatrick for the third time in four games due to illness.
I’shon Young led Keansburg with 12 points.
Class B Central
Wall 45, Neptune 37
Junior Liam Killea scored a game-high 14 points and the Crimson Knights (11-3, 4-0) surged past the Scarlet Fliers (9-3, 2-2) behind a strong second half that nailed down a key divisional road win.
Junior Demitri Tu added 10 points and junior Dan Hennessy poured in nine for Wall, which flipped a 21-19 halftime deficit into a 30-26 lead heading into the fourth. The Crimson Knights gained separation with a 9-1 run after Neptune cut the lead to one, giving Wall a 39-30 lead that proved to be enough cushion.
Junior Jordan Pierre led Neptune with 12 points and senior Jayden Myrthil added eight in the loss.
Point Beach 84, Jackson Liberty 52
Senior Scot Crowley led four Point Beach players in double-figure scoring with 21 points and the Garnet Gulls (9-5, 4-1) coasted to a win over the Lions (3-7, 1-4).
Sophomore Danny Cavanaugh poured in 17 points, while juniors Jacob Edgecomb and Elijah Ives each pitched in 16 for Point Beach. Sophomore Tyler Preston also contributed eight points and six assists in the win.
New Egypt 52, Lakewood 44
Juniors Nolan Arnold and Clyde Ferris each scored 15 points and the Warriors (4-8, 2-3) locked down a win over the Piners (2-7, 0-3).
Junior Ryan Reynolds added 11 points for Lakewood, while juniors Cris Rosario and Ronny Cuevas each scored a game-high 16 points to lead Lakewood.
Class B South
Toms River East 42, Brick 39
Senior Mason Clinton scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds and buried the game-winning three-pointer to give the Raiders (5-7, 2-2) a road win over the Green Dragons (6-8, 1-3).
Junior Shamus O’Grady chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds for Toms River East, which tied the game on a three-pointer by freshman Tommy Intintola.
Sophomore Jamel Pitts led Brick with 13 points.
Barnegat 66, Lacey 53
Senior Mason Krey led an all-around effort by Barnegat with 17 points and the Bengals (7-5, 3-1) topped the Lions (3-9, 1-3) to deliver coach Mike Puorro his 200th career victory.
Senior Cole Toddings added 11 points, sophomore Gavin Gerckens chipped in 10 and seniors Todd Muhammad and Johnnel Johnson each finished with eight for Barnegat.
Senior Frank Smith matched Krey for a game-high 17 points, with senior D.J. Duffy adding 16 and classmate Jon Stabile pitching in 10 in the loss.
