Howell 56, Brick Memorial 48
Sophomore Noah Musto scored 15 points and the Rebels (8-7, 1-5) outlasted the Mustangs (7-9, 1-5) to earn their first A Central divisional win while also climbing above .500.
Senior Peter Barkauskas and junior Cayden Parker each added 10 points and senior Joe Vella chipped in nine for Howell.
No. 2 Manasquan 63, Jackson Memorial 38
Sophomore Rey Weinseimer and senior Griffin Linstra each scored 18 points and the Warriors (12-2, 5-2) broke the game open in the second quarter to pick up a road win over the Jaguars (5-10, 3-3).
Junior Yasser Johnson scored nine points to lead Jackson Memorial, which fell into a 35-12 deficit by halftime.
No. 1 St. Rose 77, Point Boro 40
Junior Jayden Hodge scored the 1,000th point of his high school career and the Purple Roses (11-4, 7-0) rolled past the Panthers (10-5, 2-4) for their sixth straight win.
Hodge finished with 21 points, five assists and three steals and senior Bryan Ebeling pitched in 15 points and seven assists to lead St. Rose. Senior Evan Romano added 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the win.
Sophomore Hunter Hynes scored 13 points to lead Point Boro.
Class A South
Southern 48, Manchester 47
Junior Jake Sliwinski hit a left-handed drive along the right baseline as time expired to give the Rams a thrilling, down-to-the-wire win over the Hawks.
Sophomore Noah Perna scored a game-high 21 points to lead Southern while also grabbing six rebounds and four steals. Sliwinski’s game-winner pushed him into double-figures and he finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Seniors Aidan Lunn and M.J. Goins each scored 13 points to lead Manchester and classmate Ny’Zyr Battle chipped in eight, including the go-ahead free throw with 21 seconds left to make it 47-46. Lunn also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists.
Donovan Catholic 64, Toms River South 44
Senior James Gibbons led a balanced Donovan Catholic scoring effort with 12 points and the Griffins (8-8, 5-1) cruised to a win over the Indians (2-11, 0-6) in the Hooper Ave. rivalry game.
Junior Pat Gallo scored 10 points, senior Derek Espineli added nine and sophomore Gabe Feliciano chipped in eight for Donovan Catholic. Junior Shane Gambarony led Toms River South with a game-high 16 points.
Class B Coastal
Keyport 61, Matawan 55
Junior Kai Arrington drained six three-pointers on the way to a game-high 24 points and senior Nico Dispenza poured in 23 points to lead the Red Raiders (10-4, 3-3) to a road win over the Huskies (5-10, 2-4).
Senior Amir Martinez scored a game-high 28 points to go along with three assists and three steals while junior teammate chipped in 10 points, three assists and five steals for Matawan.
Class B Central
Neptune 38, Jackson Liberty 37
Senior Jayden Myrthil scored the go-ahead basket on a putback with seven seconds left and the Scarlet Fliers (10-3, 3-2) escaped with a road win over the Lions (4-8, 1-5).
Myrthil finished with 11 points and classmate Jay’Vion Rogers led Neptune with 12 points. Junior Aiden Brown scored a game-high 14 points while senior Corey Hartnett added 10 to lead Jackson Liberty, which had a chance to win the game on a runner that rimmed out as time expired.
Point Beach 69, New Egypt 58
Sophomore George Breckenridge led a balanced offensive attack with 15 points and the Garnet Gulls (10-5, 5-1) stayed within striking distance of first place with a road win over the Warriors (4-9, 2-4).
Sophomores Danny Cavanaugh and Tyler Preston each added 13 points, senior Scot Crowley threw in 12 and junior Jacob Edgecomb netted eight in Point Beach’s well-rounded effort.
Junior Nolan Arnold scored a game-high 26 points to lead New Egypt and classmate Clyde Ferris added 10 in the loss.
Wall 61, Lakewood 34
Junior Dan Hennessy scored 15 points and was part of a trio that combined to get the Crimson Knights (12-3, 5-0) off to a fast start in a win over the Piners (2-9, 0-4).
Hennessy and seniors Demitri Tu and Brian McKenna combined for all of Wall’s points during a 21-2 first quarter that set the course for Wall’s one-sided win. Tu finished with 13 points.
Junior Cris Rosario scored a game-high 16 points to lead Neptune.
Class B South
Lacey 71, Brick 59
Senior Jon Stabile scored a career-high 32 points to go with eight rebounds and the Lions (4-10, 2-3) pulled away for a win over the Green Dragons (6-10, 1-4).
Senior D.J. Duffy added 13 points and four assists and classmate Maris Mooney threw in nine points for Lacey. Sophomore Jamel Pitts poured in 20 points to lead Brick.
Non-Division
Barnegat 58, Ocean 31
Senior Mason Krey led a balanced scoring effort and the Bengals (9-5) rode a strong defensive performance to a win over the Spartans (3-12).
Seniors Todd Muhammad and Luke Tortorici each added eight points for Barnegat, while junior Aidan Saint Louis carried the Ocean offense with a game-high 20 points.
