Saturday, Oct. 11

Class C North

Shore 35, Colts Neck 21

The Blue Devils (4-2, 2-2), behind two rushing touchdowns each from junior running back Cole Torres and junior quarterback Logan Clark, outlasted a late test from the Cougars (2-5, 1-3), scoring two unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win their second straight game.

Shore used a strong rushing attack with a pair of scores on the ground from Clark and an 83-yard scamper by Torres to take an early 21-0 lead in the first half.

Colts Neck responded with three straight scores across the second and third quarters to tie the game, but the Blue Devils took the lead right back 90 seconds into the fourth quarter with a 50-yard score from Torres. Senior wide receiver Enzo Cagliostro iced the game with a 34-yard touchdown run on a fourth-down reverse with under two minutes to play.

R.J. Conover had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Colts Neck, and senior quarterback Zach Caporale had a 37-yard TD run and another score on a QB sneak that tied the game at 21 going into the fourth quarter.

No. 8 Manasquan 7, No. 11 Red Bank 6

The Warriors (5-1, 3-1) held off the Bucs (4-2, 3-1) on a rainy Saturday afternoon to keep their Class C North title hopes alive.

Star senior running back Ace Etienne scored Manasquan’s only touchdown of the day, sprinting into the end zone from 36 yards out in the first half.

Both defenses played strong games, but the difference came midway through the fourth quarter. Red Bank found the end zone on a 20-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Brett Laude to senior wideout Ari Fraser. The Bucs opted to go for a two-point conversion to take the lead, but the Warriors sniffed it out to hold onto the lead for the rest of the way.

Etienne also added an interception on the defensive side.

Class D North

Neptune 27, Ocean 10

With the win, the Scarlet Fliers (6-1, 3-0) – combined with Raritan’s victory on Friday night – set up a Class D North winner-take-all title game on Oct. 24 in a strong performance against the Spartans (3-4, 2-2). Neptune trailed at halftime, but turned up the heat in the trenches and notched a 21-0 second-half shutout to take home the victory.

The Scarlet Fliers struck first to end the first quarter in trick-play fashion with a 41-yard touchdown pass, as junior Hassin McMillian received a handoff, and lofted the ball down the field to junior Daaron Lynch. Ocean scored the final 10 points of the first half to take a 10-6 lead into the locker room.

Neptune got two scores from junior quarterback Caleb Brown-Mason in the second half, a two-yard run and a 26-yard pass to senior wideout Jeremiah Montgomery, and an 11-yard rushing score for Montgomery with under three minutes to play to seal the win.

Nondivisional

Freehold Township 42, Freehold Boro 7

The Patriots (4-3) took the 2025 iteration of the Battle for the Duke in dominant fashion over the Colonials (1-6).

Senior running back Jake Rattiner punched in two rushing touchdowns in the opening half, as Freehold Township took a 35-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

The Patriots also scored on another rushing touchdown and a scoop-and-score by senior defensive back Jamar Irvin early in the second quarter, before senior quarterback Johnathan Kokotis lofted a 45-yard touchdown pass to junior wideout Jake Schultzel with a minute left in the second quarter.

The two teams played even in the second half with a touchdown each, as the Patriots notched another fumble returned for a score in the third quarter, and Freehold Boro got on the board with four minutes left in the game.

Friday, Oct. 10

Class A North

No. 4 Holmdel 47, Marlboro 21

Senior quarterback Jack Cannon ran for four touchdowns and threw for three more to lead the Hornets (4-2, 3-1) past the Mustangs (2-5, 0-4). Cannon scored on runs of 73, 36, 8 and 1 yards. He found senior wideout James Murphy on touchdown passes of 75 and 62 yards. He also found junior wideout Michael Todisco on a 7-yard touchdown pass.

No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 34, No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven 10

The Caseys (7-0, 4-0) remained unbeaten and clinched at least a share of the Class A North title with a victory over the rival Bulldogs (4-2, 2-2). Freshman running back Gabe Kemp rushed for two touchdowns on runs of seven and four yards. Freshman quarterback Rahmir Rivera rushed for a one-yard touchdown and threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Johnny Williams. Freshman kicker Simon Picinich converted on field goals of 33 and 23 yards.

Rumson scored on a 25-yard field goal by senior kicker Drew Cavise and a one-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Brady Williams.

Class A South

Toms River North 21, Jackson 20

Junior wideout/defensive back Cole Garrison ran for a 13-yard touchdown with two minutes left and followed that up with a game-sealing interception to lead the Mariners (3-4, 1-2) past the Jaguars (2-5, 1-2).

Garrison finished with two rushing touchdowns while junior wideout Wesley Tanner scored a receiving touchdown. Junior kicker Carter Tamaro converted on all three extra point attempts.

No. 7 Donovan Catholic 10, No. 9 Point Boro 7

Senior kicker Blake Caruso booted a 23-yard field goal with just seven seconds remaining in the game to lift Griffins (4-3, 3-1) over the Panthers (2-4, 1-2) in a thriller that gave Donovan Catholic at least a tie for the Class A South title, its first division title since 2019.

Point Boro struck first in the second quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run from junior running back DJ Albanese before Donovan Catholic tied the game up on a screen pass from junior quarterback Kahden Davis to junior wideout Aidan Kelly with just 41 seconds remaining in the half.

The win marked the return of Davis, who had been out with a knee injury since the second game of the season.

Class B North

St. John Vianney 36, Howell 0

The Lancers (3-4, 2-1) blanked the Rebels (3-4, 1-3) to remain alive in the Class B North race.

Senior defensive back DJ Carter scored on an interception return and on a kickoff return. Senior running back Danny Breen and senior quarterback Zach LaBarca both scored on rushing touchdowns. Sophomore defensive back Khalyd Goodman returned an interception for a touchdown. Junior linebacker Tyler McDougal blocked a punt for a safety.

No. 10 Wall 25, No. 3 Manalapan 22

Senior quarterback Brian McKenna tossed three touchdown passes and rushed for another to lead the Crimson Knights (4-2, 3-0) past the Braves (5-2, 2-1) to clinch at least a share of the Class B North title with the win.

McKenna scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown and found senior tight end Justin Davis for passing touchdowns of 28 and 14 yards. He also found sophomore fullback Jesse Roth on a 36-yard touchdown pass. Junior defensive back Franny Scaramellino recorded an interception.

Junior quarterback Cameron Desfosse threw two touchdown passes in the loss. Senior tight end Brayden Claro caught a five-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

After the Braves fell behind 25-6, senior running back Ah’sere Woolfolk scored on a one-yard touchdown run followed by a two-point conversion from junior tight end Ethan Fogelstrom. Junior running back Nicky Palmieri scored on a 27-yard touchdown reception followed by another Fogelstrom two-point conversion.

Class B South

Central 27, Toms River South 7

Junior wideout/defensive back CJ Yates returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown and hauled in a 90-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Jacob Halpin to lead the Golden Eagles (6-1, 3-1) past the Indians (1-6, 1-2).

Both Halpin and junior quarterback Dominic Prasad rushed for one-yard touchdowns on quarterback sneaks.

No. 2 Southern 42, Manchester 0

Six different players found the end zone as the Rams (7-0, 3-0) improved to 7-0 for the first time in program history and clinched no worse than a tie for their second straight Class B South title by blanking the Hawks (0-7, 0-3).

Christopher Raub had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown, Carson Abbato threw a 13-yard TD pass to Niko Iliescu, John McGinnis had a 13-yard interception return for a score, Aidan Covell ran for a 13-yard touchdown, Ty Eck’Art scored on a 12-yard run and Dillon Wolfer added a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown to power the Rams.

The defense posted its third shutout of the season.

Class C North

No. 12 Matawan 42, Long Branch 0

Sophomore quarterback BlairCarter Gagneron threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Huskies (5-2, 3-1) rolled over the Green Wave (0-7, 0-4) to remain in contention for the Class C North title. Gagneron reached the 1,000-yard mark through the air on the season with yet another strong performance with his arm.

Sophomore running back Sean Euell rushed for 96 yards on eight carries including a touchdown. Sophomore wideout Cayson Williams recorded three receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Senior wideout Welman Crooms caught a 65-yard touchdown. Senior running back Erik Martinez rushed for 82 yards on four carries, including a touchdown.

Class C South

Pinelands 21, Barnegat 14

Senior running back Eric Kobilnyk ran for a pair of touchdowns from 21 and 5 yards to lead the Wildcats (4-2, 3-0) past the Bengals (3-3, 1-3).

Junior defensive back Sam Kilisi recorded two interceptions, including a 65-yard interception return touchdown.

Toms River East 14, Lacey 10

The Raiders (4-2, 3-0) topped the Lions (2-4, 1-2), setting up a showdown on Oct. 24 with Pinelands for the Class C South title.

Senior running back Brandon Siebert scored on a rushing touchdown. Senior quarterback Brayden Flanagan scored the game-winning touchdown on a rush with three minutes remaining. Ryan Caruso recorded an interception on defense.

Class D North

Raritan 43, Asbury Park 19

Senior running back John Jeleniewski and sophomore slotback Lou Zweidinger each rushed for two touchdowns as the Rockets (3-3, 3-0) ran past the Blue Bishops (3-3, 0-3) to set up a division title game against Neptune on Oct. 24.

Junior slotback Marko Brown and sophomore quarterback Zahir Jones each rushed for a touchdown. Junior Eric Berg scored on a two-point conversion, forced a fumble, made a key 4th down stop, and had over 100 yards of offense.

Class D South

Monmouth 21, Keansburg 6

Sophomore quarterback Ryan Corwin went 13-for-21 with 216 yards and three passing touchdowns as the Falcons (5-2, 2-1) defeated the Titans (1-5, 0-3).

Three different Falcons caught touchdowns – senior tight end Bryce Browne, sophomore wideout Liam Faulkner and sophomore wideout Donovan Hicks.

Senior running back Tyler Gustafson rushed for 141 yards on 26 carries.

New Egypt 54, Keyport 38

The Warriors (3-3, 2-1) tied the school record for points in a game in a shootout victory over the Red Raiders (1-6, 1-3) to win their third straight game.

Senior running back Eddie Novatkowski scored on three rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown, and an incredible six two-point conversions. Senior wideout Clyde Ferris scored on an 80-yard kick return and a 67-yard receiving touchdown.

Nondivisional

No. 6 Brick Memorial 49, Brick 7

The Mustangs (5-2) took care of business against the crosstown Dragons (3-4) behind four first- half passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown from senior quarterback Jason Lajara.

Four Mustangs caught touchdown passes in the first half – senior wideouts Nyzier Matthews and Ricky Dillon, junior wideout Shawn Fowler and junior tight end Joe Livio.

In the second half, junior quarterback Tyler Pierce threw a touchdown pass to junior running back Nick Barry. Junior running back Zahire Carpenter also ran for a touchdown.

Point Beach 44, Lakewood 30

Senior quarterback Matthew Rossi threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns along with a two-point conversion run as the Garnet Gulls (5-2) bounced back from last week’s defeat to beat the Piners (2-4).

Senior wideout Elijah Ives caught both touchdown passes and rushed for a touchdown. Sophomore running back Gage Boyle rushed for over 100 yards and had over 50 receiving yards along with two rushing touchdowns. Sophomore running back Thomas Aiosa scored on a rushing touchdown and twice scored on two-point conversions.
