Toms River North topped crosstown rival Donovan Catholic behind a strong defensive performance. The Mariners recorded 13 steals and 4 blocks as a team and out-rebounded the Griffins 30-23 on the glass. Junior Cara Sarluca led Toms River North with a game-high 13 points while Senior Angelina DeCesare chipped in 7 points in the win. Junior Anais Friedman scored 11 points for Donovan Catholic in the loss.

(1) Howell 48, (2) St. Joseph Hill (NY) 46

Howell defeated out-of-state opponent St. Joseph Hill (NY) behind a pair of double-doubles recorded by Sophomore Kylee Beam and Senior Kiera McKown. Beam finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds while McKown finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory for the Rebels.

Championship Game

(4) Pingry 64, (2) Trinity Hall 61

Trinity Hall fell to Pingry in overtime in the Score at the Shore championship after rallying from a 7 point deficit at the end of the 3rd quarter to force overtime. Pingry Senior Taylor Francis, a Georgetown softball commit, erupted for 33 points in the win. Trinity Hall Junior Grace Feeney scored 20 points while Senior Lilly Riggi added 15 points and Junior Whitney Hobson added 14 points in the loss for the Monarchs.

 

Holmdel Holiday Invitational

Location: Holmdel High School

Holmdel 47, Marlboro 28

A strong 2nd quarter in which Holmdel outscored Marlboro 10-1 helped propel the Hornets to victory. Senior Mackenzie Teevan led the way with a 25 point and 14 rebound double-double in the victory while Freshman Claire Gillespie added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Marlboro Freshman Mackenzie Klatsky scored 12 points in the loss for the Mustangs.

No. 8 Ranney 60,  East Brunswick 34

Ranney blitzed East Brunswick in the 1st quarter with a 26-7 lead and never looked back. Senior Haley Poser led the way with 20 points while Sophomore Ashley Kreiger recorded a 15 point and 10 rebound double-double in the win for the Panthers.

Colts Neck 57, North Plainfield 44 

Colts Neck extended a 3 point halftime lead to 9 at the end of the 3rd quarter and kept North Plainfield at an arm’s length the rest of the way. Freshman Julianna Jasina led the way for the Cougars with 17 points while Sophomore Mattilyn Caffiero added 12 points and Freshman Emily Donahue added 11 points in the victory.

No. 5 Manasquan 39, Mount St. Mary 23

After trailing 23-21 at halftime, Manasquan turned it on with stifling 2nd half defense shutting out Mount St. Mary in the 2nd half to win 39-23. Junior Shannon Looney scored a game-high 12 points while Senior Shea Donnelly added 11 points in the victory for the Warriors.

 

Monroe Holiday Tournament

South Plainfield 58, Freehold Township 50

South Plainfield defeated Freehold Township behind a 24 point effort from Senior Stella Sweeney. Senior Gaby Parker scored 19 points in the loss for the Patriots.

 

Holiday Hoopfest

Gill St. Bernard’s 66, No. 3 St. Rose 41

St. Rose fell to state power Gill St. Bernard’s and nationally ranked UConn commit, 6’6 center Gandy Malou-Mamel. Malou-Mamel finished with 20 points while Senior Maya Abramson finished with 19 points. St. Rose Junior Jada Lynch scored 11 points in the loss.

No. 2 St. John Vianney 62, Immaculate Conception 27

St. John Vianney trounced Immaculate Conception from the start opening up a 30-11 halftime lead on their way to victory. Junior Taylor Sofilkanich recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds while Junior Stella Lockhart added 10 points and 9 rebounds in what was a balanced scoring effort from the Lancers.
