Coaches vs Cancer Showcase

Location: Donovan Catholic High School, Toms River , NJ

Wall 47, Donovan Catholic 34

Wall lead by 12 points at halftime, 27-15, and held on in the fourth quarter when Donovan got as close as four points in the opening game of the Coaches vs Cancer Showcase. Sophomore Erin McBarron scored a career-high 16 points and Marisa Amitie scored 9 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on her way to being named MVP for Wall. Junior Anais Friedman was named MVP for Donovan with her scoring a season-high 17 points and sophomore Sarah Franks added 14 points.

Colts Neck 74, Hightstown 40

Colts Neck’s pressure was too much for Hightstown, outscoring them 23-6 in the second quarter to win their seventh game of the season. Four players scored double-digits with freshman Avery Wallace scoring a career-high 16 points to lead the way. Freshmen Emily Donahue and Julianna Jasina both scored 12 points for the Cougars. Senior Katie Dichter was named MVP for Colts Neck.

Manchester 61, Marlboro 47

Manchester battled back after trailing 16-2 to start the game and 19-7 at the end of the first quarter to win their fifth game and get back to .500. The Hawks held Marlboro to one point in the second quarter, outscoring them 14-1. Freshman Jesse Sarana scored a team-high 20 points and had 8 assists on her way to being named MVP for Manchester. Senior Jade Andrews posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Madeline Nolan added 14 points for Manchester. Freshman Mackenzie Klatsky knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 21 points on her way to being named MVP for Marlboro.

No. 4 Red Bank Regional 80, Notre Dame 28

Shore 49, Mount St. Mary 48

Shore got off to a slow start in the first quarter, trailing 15-11, but outscored Mount St. Mary 15-5 in the second quarter and built their lead up to 11 points in the second half before Mount St. Mary made a comeback.  Junior Ava Coyle knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 17 points and senior Reese Fiore scored 13 points and was named MVP for Shore. Mia Gestosani scored a game-high 21 points and was named MVP for Mount St. Mary.

No. 10 Ranney 66, No. 9 Point Boro 52

Senior Haley Poser exploded for 27 points and was named MVP as she led Ranney to victory over Point Boro in a battle of top ten teams. Freshman Lucy Eibeler added 15 points while Sophomore Ashley Kreiger chipped in 11 points for the Panthers in the win. Ranney improved their record to 5-5 after a difficult early season schedule.

Middletown North 48, Manalapan 24

Middletown North pulled away from Manalapan in the 4th quarter to bring their record to 5-7 on the season. The Lions led 28-22 at the end of the 3rd quarter before outscoring the Braves 20-2 in the final quarter. Senior Karleigh Aber finished with a game-high 17 points while Sophomore Kaelyn Gibson added 13 points and Junior Danielle Gonzalez chipped in 10 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the win for the Lions.

Long Branch 35, Raritan 30

Long Branch opened up a 22-11 halftime deficit before holding on late to defeat Raritan and improve their record to 6-1 on the season. Senior Leomary Diaz-Merino filled up the stat-sheet with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 9 steals while Senior Taniylah Brown grabbed 16 rebounds in the victory for the Green Wave. Senior Angela Peduto scored a team-high 10 points in the loss for the Rockets.

Toms River East 48, Ocean 13

Toms River East jumped on Ocean with a 28-9 lead at halftime before cruising to victory in the 2nd half. Sophomores Libby Dickman and Kacey Briles led a balanced scoring effort with 9 points apiece while Freshman Ciley Francis added 8 points in the victory for the Raiders.

 

Non-Conference

Sayreville 35, Matawan 15

Sayreville shut down Matawan with a strong defensive performance. Freshman Natalia Glazewski led the Bombers with a 10 point and 12 rebound double-double performance.

Manville 53, Keyport 23

Keyport fell behind early against Manville and could never gain their footing. Junior Sadie Fleming recorded a double-double performance with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the win for Manville.

Keansburg 46, Koinonia 21

Keansburg routed Koinonia to improve to 8-1 on the season. The Titans jumped out to a 21-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. Junior Gabriella Flanzbaum led all scorers with a game-high 18 points in addition to 10 rebounds and 7 steals while Junior Princess Graves also finished with a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

No. 2 St. Rose 52, Bayonne 44

Jada Lynch’s 25 points propelled St. Rose past a strong Bayonne team. The Junior converted on five 3-pointers with one of them giving her 1,000 points of her career as well as a perfect 8/8 from the free throw line. Junior Brooke Missry added 13 points in the win for the Roses who improved to 8-2 on the season.

Princeton 55, Toms River North 47

Toms River North fell short to Princeton who moved to 8-2 with the victory. Junior Anna Winters scored a game-high 25 points in the win for Princeton. Junior Cara Sarluca scored a team-high 18 points and senior Jordyn Brown added 12 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss for the Mariners.
