Shore Conference Girls Basketball Scoreboard Saturday, Jan. 18

Class A Coastal

No. 1 St. John Vianney 58,  No. 5 Red Bank Regional 41 

Stella Lockhart scored 25 points, including 19 in the second half as the St John Vianney Lady Lancers defeated Red Bank Regional 58-41 in the Jimmy V Classic Cancer Benefit at Central Regional.  Lockhart showed every facet of her game, scoring at all 3 levels while adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Taylor Sofilkanich added 12 points and 6 rebounds for SJV.  Caroline Polloway led RBR with 15 points, scoring 11 of those in the second half.  Most of Polloway’s hoops came off great feeds from Synai Blychanton, who tallied 5 assists to go along with 8 points.  Zoey Gully chipped in 9 for the Bucs.  SJV runs their record to 12-2 while the Bucs drop to 9-3.

 

Non-Divisional

No. 6 Howell, 58, Central 39

Leading 26-19 at halftime, the Rebels outscored Central 19-5 in the third quarter to secure their 9th win of the season. Four players scored double-digits for Howell with Kiera McKown and BellaRose Marino leading the way with 12 each. Emma Christensen scored a career-high 24 points for Central.

No. 10 Barnegat 51, Middletown North 32

Barnegat closed out their 11th win of the season but outscoring Middletown North 19-9 in the fourth quarter. Four players scored double-digits with Emma Thornton and Zemirah Enalls posting double-doubles. Thornton had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Enalls scored 10 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. Kaelyn Gibson scored a team-high 10 points and Karleigh Aber grabbed 16 rebounds for Middletown North.

Shore 69, Raritan 32

Senior Reese Fiore knocked down six 3-pointers to score a season-high 30 points and lead Shore to their 8th win of the season. Junior Ava Coyle hit four 3-pointers to finish with 14 points and Grace Ascolese added 11 points for the Blue Devils. Angela Peduto scored a team-high 9 points for Raritan.

Point Boro 46, Neptune 35

A dominant rebounding effort propelled Point Boro past Neptune. The Panthers outrebounded the Scarlet Fliers 40-16 on the game with 3 players finishing in double-digits. Senior Emily Marinelli led the scoring effort with 14 points while Senior Vanessa Haas added a 13 point and 11 rebound double-double, Senior Gabby Mellet added 8 points and 10 rebounds, and Senior Katherine Henn chipped in 6 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Panthers. Senior Bre Evans scored 14 points in the loss for the Scarlet Fliers.

Point Beach 45, Pinelands 12

Manchester 52, Ocean 25

Manchester outscored Ocean 24-0 in the second quarter to win their 7th game of the season. Sophomore Madeline Nolan scored a game-high 12 points and Jesse Sarana added 10 points for Manchester.

Toms River East 50, Toms River South 28

The Raiders jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter against crosstown rival Toms River South to win their 9th game of the season. Senior Grace Crowley scored a game-high 13 points and Kacey Briles added 9 points for TRE.

 

Non-Conference

Keyport at Perth Amboy Magnet, 10 a.m.

Freehold Boro 59, Sayreville 43

Trailing by two after the first quarter, Freehold Boro outscored Sayreville 19-7 in the second quarter on their way to their 10th win of the season. Senior Christina Sikaras posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds and had 5 assists to lead the Colonials. Sophomore Olivia Batchelor added 17 points and Avery Watt grabbed 12 rebounds for Freehold Boro.

Colts Neck 47, Cresskill 35

Colts Neck jumped out to a 22-12 lead in the first quarter and led 34-17 at halftime to bounce back from last nights loss. Freshman Emily Donahue knocked down five 3-pointers and scored game-high 19 points and Gabriella Bryce added 8 points for the Cougars.

No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 71, St. Elizabeth (DE) 28

Red Bank Catholic jumped out to an 18-3 1st quarter lead and never looked back in a lopsided victory over St. Elizabeth (DE). Junior Addy Nyemchek led a balanced scoring effort with a team-high 12 points while Senior Tessa Carman added 11 points and Junior Kate Liggio chipped in 9 points in the win for the Caseys.

No. 8 Trinity Hall 40, Roselle Catholic 37

Trinity Hall outscored Roselle Catholic 11-6 in the third quarter to win a back and forth non-conference game. Junior Niamh Stapleton scored a team-high 11 points and both Grace Feeney and Bridget Rigney added 9 points for the Monarchs.
