Shore Conference Girls Basketball Scoreboard Thursday, Jan. 23

Class A Central

No. 2 St. Rose 63, Neptune 45

 

Class A Coastal

No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 70,  No. 5 Red Bank Regional 24

The Caseys defeat RBR in convincing fashion for the second time this season to improve to 6-0 in Class A Coastal. RBC held the Bucs to just two points in the first quarter to jump out to a 21-2 lead. Junior Katie Liggio drained six 3-pointers to score a career-high 22 points for RBC.

Middletown South 41,  Holmdel 39

Trailing by one point in the closing seconds, Amanda MacGregor drained a 3-pointer to give Middletown South the division win over Holmdel. Senior Caitlin Whyte scored a team-high 13 points and Brooke MacGregor finished with 11 points for Middletown South

No. 1 St. Johns Vianney 63, No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven 39 

SJV jumped out to a 24-7 lead in the first quarter and put the game away with a 24-9 third quarter to win their 13th game of the season. Sophomore Elisabeth Lyons scored a game-high 12 points and both Brooklyn Taylor and Tatum Sharpe added 11 points for the Lady Lancers. Senior Sylvie Notine scored a team-high 11 points for Rumson.

 

Class A North

Colts Neck 56, Ocean 19

Colts Neck held Ocean to just four first half points to win their 9th game of the season. Freshman Julianna Jasina scored a game-high 11 points and three other players scored 8 points for Colts Neck.

No. 7 Ranney 86, Shore 64

Ranney had four players score double-digits to beat Shore for the second time this season. Sophomore Ashley Kreiger scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Haley Poser had a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists for Ranney. Senior Claire Doherty also had a double-double for the Panthers, 15 points and 13 rebounds. Shore also had four players with double-digits with Kimi Sayson scoring a team-high 20 points and and Reese Fiore adding 16 points.

No. 8 Trinity Hall 63, Marlboro 34

The Monarchs built a 29-14 lead at halftime and closed out the game with a 16-4 fourth quarter to win their 13th game of the season.

 

Class A South

Central 41, Toms River North 36

 

Class B Coastal

Raritan 27,  Matawan 21

Tied 18-18 after three quarters, Raritan outscored Matawan 9-3 to win their 6th game of the season. Angela Peduto went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line to scored a game-high 11 points for the Rockets. Senior Adriana Euell scored a team-high 6 points for Matawan.

Middletown North 66, Keansburg 32

Middletown North came out strong in the first half, outscoring Keansburg 39-20 to beat them for the second time this season and win their 9th game of the season. Three players scored double-digits for the Lions with Laila Iasparro, Danielle Gonzalez and Kaelyn Gibson all scoring 11 points. With the win, Middletown North has a clear path to the division title.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 52, Manalapan 48

Long Branch was able to hang after outscoring Manalapan 21-9 in the second quarter to build a 36-19 lead to win their 9th game of the season. Manalapan was able to climb back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Green Wave 18-9. Senior Leomary Diaz-Merino scored a team-high 23 points and had 4 assists for Long Branch. Sophomore Brianna Libretti scored a career-high 25 points for Manalapan.

Asbury Park at Freehold Boro, 4 p.m.

Freehold Township 62, Monmouth 17

The Patriots continue to run through Class B North, improving to 6-0 and sitting alone in first place. Senior Gaby Parker scored a game-high 16 points and had 4 steals and Sophie Tonino added 13 points for Freehold Township.

 

 

Non-Divisional

No. 6 Howell 49, Brick Township 40

Howell took a one point lead into the half and expanded on it in the second half to win a hard fought non-divisional game. Sophomore Kylee Beam scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, 7 of those being on the offensive end. BellaRose Marino finished with 13 rebounds and grabbed two important offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter. Marino also went 6-for-6 at the free-throw line to close out the game. Senior Ashley Smith was stellar on the defensive end of the floor, preventing Brick Township from getting the ball to Ariana Wissen. Smith had two steals in the closing minute of the game for the Rebels.

Freshman Kendall Fredricksen knocked down five 3-points to score a career-high 18 points for the Dragons. One of her 3-pointers tied the game 38-38 in the fourth quarter. Senior Riley Nausedas, who finished with 8 points, scored six straight points for Brick Township to get them to within two early in the fourth quarter.

Point Boro 59, Wall 43

Point Boro jumped out to a 10 point lead in the first quarter, 22-12, to win their 12th game of the season. Four players scored double-digits with Vanessa Haas scoring a game-high 18 points and Emily Marinelli adding 14 points for the Panthers. Senior Marisa Amitie posted a double-double, 15 points and 15 rebounds and Erynn Richey knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 14 points for Wall.

Toms River East 51,  No. 10 Barnegat 47

Trailing by six points, 33-27, going into the fourth quarter, TRE outscored Barnegat 24-14 to win their 11th game of the season. Three players scored double-digits with Libby Dickman scoring a team-high 15 points and Adrianna Cruz adding 11 points for the Raiders. Senior Riley Fitzpatrick scored a game-high 16 points and Emma Thornton had 15 points and 22 rebounds for Barnegat.

Toms River South 60, Brick Memorial 33

Tied 15-15 after the first quarter, TRS outscored Brick Memorial 23-5 in the second on their way to their 7th win of the season. Haley Johnson scored a game-high 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and Madeline Krohn added 11 points for TRS. Maggie Leach scored double-digits in her third straight game for the Mustangs, finishing with a team-high 13 points.

Lacey 70, Donovan Catholic 60

Lacey started the game on fire, scoring 26 points in the first quarter and outscored Donovan 21-7 in the third quarter to win their 7th game of the season. Brooklyn Bell and Reece Paget both had a double-double for the Lions with Bell scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds and Paget had 18 points and 21 rebounds. Donovan knocked down 11 3-points with Hannah Kelly hitting six and finishing with a game-high 22 points and Kaylen Wright knocking down four 3-pointers and finishing with 19 points.
